OK, I have , in the last 2 weeks, had someone come to my art studio and undress and ask for sex. twice. I told him that since he was a noob he OBviously didnt know that SL wasnt a sex club and it was VERY bad manners. Today i got accosted in damselfly hair salon, a fave of mine, by a Peter Toxic, BUT i searched for that name and he;s not listed. how did he manage that? i use SL socially and for business since i am wheelshair/ bedbound and this lets me interact with my friends And school almost like RL. Anyway, this peter Toxic ( ooh,, the Toxic Degerate..new superhero-NOT ) asks me to buy him hair. I told him about the best places to get free avatar stuff. then he told me my AV was fantastic and it wasnt "fair" then I got pissed. I walked off but this guy got REAL nasty and kept demanding money.
I know they're out there but I have NEVER had one come to my gallery ( its not advertised OR at a nice place like damselfly's. I tried to warn Damsels but you cant IM them.
Can we make a Wanted Poster list and name these guys? this one was abusive not just an annoyance and i know its only virtual but it FEELS real when it happens. ( im a psychologist and i know Im projecting but hey...)
a WANTED or a WARNING poster/list of these people would be helpful for stores. the businesses have got to ban these folks. it ruins it for everyone else who has done their time here.

Search is kinda borked right now, Raelle. You can AR him for harrassment; but mute/ban is your best bet, on your gallery land, as Sable said. If you see him again get a pic, to include with your AR report and don't forget to copy/send the chat to LL too.

I'm very sorry to hear that this happened to you, Raelle. And I don't think you need to feel apologetic about it "feeling real" -- it's normal that it frequently does.

Ban, mute, and report.

Mostly ignore completely, or let them make a fool of themselves by performing tasks i order them to do for it.

If i'm not in the fun mood, i ask them to stop.. if they don't i'll report him/her and mute.
if they keep running circles around me, i might (barely happend) orbit the lamers.. to give a clear warning.

Or i'll tp away... or to another place on the same sim..

conclusion: i don't give the requested lindens to them.

First of all, isn't it against the TOS to beg for Ls?
Secondly, I have been actually known to REFUSE Ls from people who mistakenly thought I was manipulating them into giving Ls to me. Once I mentioned that I was looking for a good camping spot to sit at while I sorted my inventory (might as well earn a few Ls while doing something productive) in a group IM and someone gave me a bunch of Ls. I sent them right back to her, explaining again that I really *was* looking for a camping spot and NOT begging for Ls.
Lastly, I have turned my avatar into a 3000 year old sorceress and spent L$2000+ for a spell HUD. People who bother me on my parcel (I rent) and don't take the hint get caged or orbited into the next sim (my spell HUD has a feature that allows this even in "No Push" zones). Just a little something to use when the sim owner is not around.

I don't have people begging me for money. Perhaps it's the same look I give them as I give the ones begging at the traffic light.

I don't have as much trouble with pan handlers in SL.. probably because I usually just flat out ignore pleas for L$. I donate to RL charities to help the RL poor. If you are poor in a game.. well, that's your problem.

I agree about not handing out L$ to beggars but I did have the misfortune to discover not long ago that in some ways many folks have gone too far in their automatic refusals.

I not long ago had a family member that decided to join SL without telling any of us. She wanted to learn and explore this place without the influence of "THE FAMILY". Which is absolutely fine with us sometimes its the best way to do things.

Well she landed on the mainland in a foreign sim....and was orbited the minute they figured out she didnt belong there. Landed at another random spot (once she figured out how to get down out of the sky) ran into a firing range and became the target.

After 3 days of various adventures she finally found an av with a human that would talk to her. SHe asked if the lady could point her in the direction of somewhere a new player could learn about SL. She got frozen banned and ejected for being on this persons lawn and called a beggar

Eventually she did find someone that sent her to NCI. BUt she had a week of complete H*ll.

Yeah that does sound a bit overboard, but OTHO that's what the noobie islands and whatnot are for.
I admit I didn't use them much but between the former friend who got me into SL, the fact that my dad had been a commercial artist, and all the years I spent in chat rooms, I found I could figure out my way without all that.

In her case game instability took her off noobie island before she was ready. She crashed right when she landed at noobie island and when she logged back in SL sent her to a random place on the mainland.
