You don't see the point. Without escalation, most would have fizzled out.

But you seem not able to let *any* perceived slight go. Even those not intended as such. And once escalated you will not let things simmer down.

Then you misread again. The people who are insignificant are those who say that they won't shop at a place if it uses bots. *They* are insignificant in pretty much the same way that people who say they will leave SL because of the instabilities are insignificant to LL.

Customers are very important to me. If you've ever been one, and have had queries, problems, or wanted something special, you would know that.

So what you're saying is that a person should just allow people to be nasty to them, without reacting to it. Don't you think it would make much more sense if people just weren't nasty in the first place? It's the instigators who are at fault.

Again, you are right. The nastiness of people in that thread, definitely had an effect on me, to the extent that I now assume the nastiness, such as you and others posted in that thread, and preemt it.

Unfortunately Phil is right. A handful of people on the forums saying they won't shop where bots exist makes very little difference and the guy with the store who on ethical grounds doesn't try to workaround the system finds himself losing far more customers than the guy with the bots generating traffic to make their products more visible in the search listings.

Now if LL would eliminate traffic from relevancy then we might see a difference.

so you limit 'your customers' to those who dont dislike bots? Is this like some part of a business plan? Do you turn away people who dont agree with your slanted ideals? I know now I am insignificant because I dont agree with you. I don't limit my customers at all. Where did you get that idea from? And I turn away very few people. There are only 4 people in the ban list. If people don't want to shop there for whatever reason, it's their business, not mine. All I do is make good products and sell them at very low prices. If people want to buy, they buy, and if they don't want to buy, they don't buy. I can't make them do one thing or the other.

umm...no. I did as you said I did - escalated things with individuals when attacked; i.e. AFTER being attacked. There have been 2 exceptions, when it was me who launched the attacks. Both were very recent threads, one of them is this thread. They were caused by the cynicism in me, which in turn was caused by the nastinesses towards me.

Yes. I already said it was bad of me, but yes. The title of this thread stated a bad attitude, and I responded to it.

A relative of mine with an extremely sucessful RL business likes to say "A good impression gets you 5 new customers. A Bad impression Loses you 20."

From personal experience that is pretty much true RL or SL.

Here in the forums recently you do come off as a wholey nasty person. Argumentative and unpleasant. The thing to remember is that in this or any other forums there are a whole lot more people who lurk and never post than those who egage you in verbal warfare. What kind of an impression are you giving all those potential customers? Is that not limiting your customer base by alienating potential paying customers before they ever land at your shop?

Well I think that people who read the threads Phil referred to, know he has a point there.

Phil is a rare person, because he is the only one who I know admitting he runs a botfarm. And got a whole load of crap over himself because of that. And no, I am no friend of his, we never met even exept on this forum. But I can sure understand his current thoughts.
