30+. It's why you hear so much 80s and classic rock in SL. ;-) I LOVE IT! Damn it... Showing my age now.

I couldn't have said it better ... lol

It may be a difficult transition for the 18 year olds too... We may not make it any easier - I have been guilty myself. The other day I was dancing with a nice guy, we talked a little- usual SL stuff -what are some you r favorite places? What do you enjoy here the most? Any favorites to recommend ad such- then he says, I should tell you, I just crossed into the adult grid- I am 18. OK- so this previously completely innocent conversation stopped dead in its tracks- excused myself, wished him a good SL...and hightailed it out of there - it just felt - wrong- to even be dancing with the kid. After, I felt like such a jerk - cause I could have even helped him out in getting started... /me ... guilt...

Oh - 44, here going on 30 and sometimes 900- depending on how much sleep I got the night before :)

LOL...it's not like you were going to partner with him...it was just a dance!

I've been spending massive amounts of time lately helping "new residents", and they are usually very grateful. I can't imagine that the crossover teens would be any less grateful for assistance from us older residents. Try not to flee next time ;)

I understand that- that's why I felt so stupid later - but it was just the first reaction, u know - like dancing with your kids' friends or something - and no- my kid is is not 18 - but still.

And actually I help out newbies all the time, it's fun to do and it gets them going in the right direction. Great- add to my guilt..

Do you know, I don't think it is that the teens don't 'care' about SL. They probably just haven't heard a lot about it.
Think about it, unless you were actually in SL already or friends referred you, where would you have heard of it? Most of the things about SL changing the virtual world, the currency, the social impact... it's all in adult magazines/newspapers or on websites which most teens probably have never even heard of.
I only read about SL on the off chance on a website I clicked onto accidentally. I've told my friends about it but none of them have ever heard of SL. I have not met one person in RL who knew about SL.
This is all in the UK though, I don't know how big SL is in the US, but I imagine it is pretty much the same.

I am 18 by the way :)

22 here.

I love SL. I get to run around, shop, and dance. :-p

I started using SL as a way to meet up with/hang out with my fiance when he travels for work though.

I'm a very happy 32 and love playing with my virtual dress up dolls! Not to mention, creating things for my virtual dress up dolls. And shopping for them.. No, I never really grew up and maturity has nothing to do with age as I can prove!

42 ... Oh hold on that's the meaning of life!

It's not the 'meaning of life'--that's Python...it's 'the answer to life, the universe, and everything.'

... I guess the fact I have teen nieces gives away my age bracket.
I became an uncle at the age of 10. The miscreant who gave me that title grew up to take out an Iraqi runway .. but they didn't get on.

My dad has a niece older than him and he graduated with two in his high school class. :)

I'd guess it's a little higher, perhaps mid 30s.

Regulars may remember this but I'm going to post again:

James Bolam, as characters in two different TV series said the same line. I like to think he asked to do it as some personal statement;

"I tried growing up once ... I found it very over-rated."

I thought it didn't matter? However, I'm 18 in RL and created my avatar to sort of look like me. And I guess when your 18 you sort of act like it too. Anyways, I was in a modeling compeition and was basically told I look to young.

They suggested that I make my avatar look more "refined". Does that mean old?

I hope he was aiming for the runway.

He's strangely very quiet about it ;)

Refinement involves the way one dresses, speaks, carries themselves, etc. rather than age. Although a person *may* become more refined as they age, it doesn't necessarily follow.

I'm 41 in RL....25 in SL. (which is what makes SL so great!) :)
