How come all the younger age groups are by 5's and once your over 40, by 10's!!

it a big difference between being 40 and being 50. If you don't belief me just wait a few short, short years...you'll see.

and remember:
Age and treachery, will always overcome youth and skill. :)

P.S. i notice we are a good chunk at 36% (at time of posting) - let all get together in world and have some refreshing sarsaparilla soda.

I only had 10 options for the poll! being 41 it seemed the most logical set of options.

*chuckles* It is kind of limiting and most of the players are probably going to fall between the ranges of 18-35, sadly.

I dunno... Any time I go to a sand box or any place on the "Popular Places" list, it seems more likely to be between 12 and 18 :(

In all seriousness, I am sure you are correct. I voted 35-40.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

I wonder who was stupid enough to do that...

I'm 49. The difference between 40 & 50 isn't all that great. Unless maybe you are on "the low end" and, for some reason, feeling a bit threatened by being clumped with those of us on "the high end" =) 40 and 50 have a lot more in common than 20, 25, 30 and 35 have with each other.

If you don't believe me ... just wait a few short, short years =oD

(PS, it's not so scary. Really, it ain't. You couldn't pay me to be 25 again.)

The graph is confirming the demographic distribution researched by Second Life Insider http://www.secondlifeinsider.com/. "72% of Second Life users are 25 years and older. This age band consumed 81.3% of the total user hours for June. Older people are more engaged with Second Life, with the most heavily engaged users being 45 years or older.

The official Linden statistics now provide two sets of age numbers: age by registrations, and age by percentage of hours spent in Second Life. The age distribution in the poll here is much closer to the second set in the Linden statistics, which skews significantly older; that is, there are lots of accounts created by people under 25, but they don't spend as much time in-world (on average) as the older residents.

I guess your right.
It is better than "35 or older" as an option....

In the 21-25 age bracket. A minority in SL o.O;

The amount of time I spend in SL varies greatly depending on what exactly I am doing. When I wasn't with my girlfriend, I did spend a lot less time, but such wasn't always the case. It honestly depended on my mood, I would go weeks without logging in, but I'd already been playing for a year at this point - I was jaded by a lot of things in Second Life.

When I first started, I spent too much time in-world, I was absolutely in love with how much there was, all user-created, and just what I could do. Very diverse for a guy who hates MMO's as a general rule.

Now I spend all my time with her, but we're both reaching a point where we are kind of over it, it being Second Life. But we're reaching a point where we will no longer need it anymore as well, so I guess that's good.

I turned 37 this year. And at that age I plan on remaining for a long time.

/me creaks to his feet and totters toward the edge of the porch, waving his gnarled wooden cane in one arthiritic fist.

"Stay off the d*mned grass!" he shouts/wheezes at the scampering crowd of younger avis, flouncing about on his lawn.
