I suppose if someone really wanted to be "sure" they could go to the TG clubs...

I'm not sure what they'd be sure of, but at least they'd be sure.
Finding TG clubs in SL has been a SCARY endeavor so far... I wouldn't recommend it unless you like to randomly run into herms that like to flail their pen0rs around in public. (T_T)

(( Honestly, of the crowds I know, there are a lot of TG hiding out in GLBT places and I see that can lead to great frustration. As a whole, it never matters what our avatars look like. But come the moment of intimacy, I can see where people want to draw the line. But, for regular social chat and general meetups, I prefer to take the avatar at face vaule, regardless of RP, "deception", or otherwise.

I, myself, have a very broad scope. While, in RL, I'm pretty darned straight. In SL, I'm pretty much "anything goes". But, not without disclosure on my part. Any relationship I have inworld is genuine to me. From friendship to partnership. Like it says in my profile: "If I see you care, you will know about me. Probably more than you want to know." I won't be one to ask for genuine disclosure because I don't think it concerns me. But, I have met people that are concerned. So I'm approaching things with "better safe than sorry".

I have no probelm at all with any part of the TG scene in SL. I don't think people have to tag themselves like they're lepers. But I also don't think it's right to put on a full deception act with anyone they get intimate with. In the end; Keep the mystery alive. And be careful not to hurt the people that appreciate you. ))

Do you have any work you should be doing, Key? ... According to my watch you have at least 6 more hours to go (including 5 minutes off for lunch) before you can consider it time to thread teh Friday needle. Just think of having me as your friendly bossess! (Just jokes, I think?)

I'd prefer to think of you as my grown-up daughter who lives in the next town.

I've been to some where everyone is quite friendly and, of course, devastatingly beautiful.

I'm not that much of a clubber, though, really. It was just a half-joking, wondering aloud kind of thing...

But I don't see why people get their panties in a bundle about the true identities of their partners in casual sexual encounters.

If it's a relationship, that's different. I think honesty is necessary, even at the risk of ruining the relationship.

There's another reason to go to TG clubs?

OMG, that was a pain in the arse with download this and download that, and then they wanted money. And the free trial to hear was a man's voice speaking about how you change your voice like this, but then no sound when the voice was supposed to be changed????????? Not for me! I got better things to do, I hope and I ain't spending no money! Then you have to go through removing all that crap! What a pain in the arse!

Got one a long time ago for RP - it not only changes gender for those that want that, but there are a wide range of RP things in the one I bought (Screaming Bee, is that one?). Since I do SL in the same room as my wife while she reads or watches the tube, the whole voice thing died quickly, but it was great fun with the dog - since there was one voice that 'converted' your voice to barking. Unfortunately, if voice got on my wife's nerves, the barking was somewhat worse.

The dog and I liked it though.

The OP does not Get It.

OP...Second Life is not FaceBook. A lot of people are here to play something that they are not. Staid housewives become wanton escorts. Shy people become party animals. Other people become animals, period. Physically handicapped people become Arnold Schwarzeneggers. And yes, people cross genders.

There are a lot of reasons people do that. Many are transgendered, and in SL they finally get to be the person they've been inside all along. Some are curious about what life is like for the "other half". Some just like to look at a cute ass as their camera follows their avatar around. None of these reasons have anything to do with YOU. That is, they're not out to make you feel "violated and offended".

Why worry about it? Just accept a person as they are. Unless you get into a very serious relationship with someone, their RL gender or age or physical appearance has no more importance than the color of their eyes.

SL can be a truly broadening experience. I'm a middle aged WASP, and politically and sexually pretty conservative. But here I've met people of all ages, all walks of life, hugely varying beliefs and life experiences. You know what? An awful lot of them have turned out to be really nice people, and I've made a lot of friends here.

Try a little tolerance, for gods' sake.

Oh...and your stereotyping really sucks. Believe me, you CAN'T tell a person's gender from their typing, or their word choice, or even their voice (with or without a voice changer). Desmond thinks he can do it by noticing personal space preferences, but I think that one fails too. Your very best bet is to ask them, politely. And then believe their answer, and learn to live with a little uncertainty.

I am sorry to com e off wrong to anyone....but i think it is sick for a woman to play as a man or vice versea....many people get serious here and feelings are strong...i have seen it go bad and it is terrible. I am not here to expose anyone or embarrass anyone just get input on how others feel about this and Using Voice is the only way to know if you must.....

That is a result of miscommunication and/or deliberate dishonesty, not what dollies people choose to use in SL.

Voice is in no way concrete proof of gender. People's voices can be naturally androgynous and modulators are easily obtained for anyone who cares to use them.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

I imagine someone probably thinks it is sick when I log myself and my male alt in and put us in sexual positions in order to properly align my pose balls. Then again, as long as I am honest with myself, I do not think I am hurting anyone by this.

LOL that was great. First about 2 minutes into it. I guess the supplements don't really change the voice eh?

To the OP: You know that blue fox you've been dating? They're really not blue. They're purple...

Don't you like it when brand new residents wade in telling us all what a bad place SL is and how they're going to set it right?
From: someone
For one most men don't type well and are a little slower than women and men are sloppy.
Most women don't type well either and they are a little slower than women who can type well and women who can't type well are sloppy.

That's the fun bit. (^_^)

My chat typing is almost always capitalized, punctuated, somewhat grammatically correct, and I always have time for the smileys. =^-^=

I wonder what category THAT fits me into. (O.o)

(^_^)y ( Note... I said "almost" (=_=) )

 sick...sick...sick..sick..

...and selfish...

Think of all the poor duckwalking plywood-wearing naked noobs out there. They're just begging to align pose balls with someone ... anyone! And you have the temerity to log in your alt?

;)

And chat isn't as easy to correct as regular typing in word processors nor is there a spell checker. As a result, many, many people raised on word processors, where starting a sentence with a complete thought and being able to spell are afterthoughts, have problems with both.

As a fountain pen collector (and user), I find that most people can't write with a fountain pen in a legible manner partly because not having a complete sentence formed effects the flow of their writing. Another reason cursive writing is considered archaic...

(On the other hand, another reason us contrarians think the world has been slowly going down hill since IBM came out with the Selectronic typewriter...)
