Through many experiences I have found that not everything is as it appears to be in this world. I have truely felt violated and offended to find out someone I thought I knew was a a Man and there are Many men playing as women. To ALL you new comers, and for those who wonder who you are really talking with, there are ways and things to notice. For one most men don't type well and are a little slower than women and men are sloppy. that is most. Some men are fast at the keyboard, but come on do you really believe someone that was that talented would be spending time on a game......Plain and simple if you want to know ask them to voice with you if they are not hiding anything they will do it with no excuses even just a simple sentence to say this is who I really am. If not they are hiding who they are for a reason. I respect all you people who play this game as honest people. Those who don't will get what is coming to them in the end. REMEMBER VOICE IS A GREAT TOOL TO KNOW WHO YOU ARE PLAYING WITH IN WORLD

I don't know why, but as I read this post I kept thinking of that W.C. Fields movie, "The Fatal Glass Of Beer."

Hmmm... Maybe it's time I get back to practicing on Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing so that I do raise any suspicion based on these umbrella stereotypes. =^-^=

Wow, I know a lot of women who can't type. We're not all secretaries you know! ;)

Also, a fair number of them have their own reasons not to voice. Mainly because they don't want you to find out that the escort you were with last night is the person giving the sales presentation to your company today. :)

tail twitching, a ripple of pleasure runs through her taut body ...

My rl bf can't type for shite, not even to me in SL. He's a hit one key, search for the other, find the other key, hit it... zzzzzzzzzzzzz

However, I'm all for a voice club cuz I get tired of typing at times (and I do have bilateral carpal tunnel syndrome from previous career). Check out my profile, if you have the money to invest in the type of club I'm interested in, hit me up with IM.

I want a very low lag voice OPTION club based around great music and interesting conversation but I can't afford one. If you can, start one and invite. But, remember, it should be voice option because some people will turn down the voice to be able to listen to the great music. Great music to me is NO RAP, NO TRANCE, NO COUNTRY.

Voice is so "safe"
Take a chance Tanner. It's not HOW they say it - its what they say. Besides voice works both ways - the man could sound liek Elmer Fudd or thick as a plank. I hate it when a man sounds common. A bit common I can handle but that thicky voice is too much.

Dnt worry Brenda - but you know what I mean. That real thickkie accent. Really makes you cringe. Definitely NOT Hugh Grant or Hugh Laurie. No one ever thought of that with this voice thing - its liek sitting on the bus which I avoid at all costs and listenign to two men snarfle on about who they bonked last night in crudest of terms. yeauch! In raw accents that could blunt a knife.

And your spelling represents some kind of high class accent?

The OP does not Get It.

OP...Second Life is not FaceBook. A lot of people are here to play something that they are not. Staid housewives become wanton escorts. Shy people become party animals. Other people become animals, period. Physically handicapped people become Arnold Schwarzeneggers. And yes, people cross genders.

There are a lot of reasons people do that. Many are transgendered, and in SL they finally get to be the person they've been inside all along. Some are curious about what life is like for the "other half". Some just like to look at a cute ass as their camera follows their avatar around. None of these reasons have anything to do with YOU. That is, they're not out to make you feel "violated and offended".

Why worry about it? Just accept a person as they are. Unless you get into a very serious relationship with someone, their RL gender or age or physical appearance has no more importance than the color of their eyes.

SL can be a truly broadening experience. I'm a middle aged WASP, and politically and sexually pretty conservative. But here I've met people of all ages, all walks of life, hugely varying beliefs and life experiences. You know what? An awful lot of them have turned out to be really nice people, and I've made a lot of friends here.

Try a little tolerance, for gods' sake.

Oh...and your stereotyping really sucks. Believe me, you CAN'T tell a person's gender from their typing, or their word choice, or even their voice (with or without a voice changer). Desmond thinks he can do it by noticing personal space preferences, but I think that one fails too. Your very best bet is to ask them, politely. And then believe their answer, and learn to live with a little uncertainty.

You haven't spent much time listening to British radio recently then.
