After a few days I returned to Zindra.
People have actually got their land now, and it really looks amazing.

Unfortunately I couldn't move, as there are BAN LINES everywhere -.-
Where you used to walk from 1 sim to the other, when the land was still in the hands of the Lab, you cannot walk around anymore, fly around, its chaos and a mess.. :(

So, I call my fellow residents to remove ban lines, it really really annoys me.
I do realise *some* people have them up because they want to work on the land first, and I respect that.. just, hopefully they can take the red ban lines away really soon.
For now, I don't visit Zindra anymore, as it is ruined.

Fly higher than 51 Meters above the terrain surface, and no ban line will touch you, unless they have you explicitly banned by name.

Why are businesses putting up Ban Lines? The first Zindra refugees are supposed to be businesses, aren't they?

I hit a couple of ban lines too. I assume it's because they're under construction and don't want anyone inside messing with things or seeing some new designs or something, just like Corporate Security on new products, maybe?

And, Zindra is beautiful!

Heh. Speaking of banlines: In , I muttered:
From: someone
I did see one guy who'd won a huge swath of land and already set up banlines around one of the parcels--with, of course, nothing within 50m of ground and a skybox at several thousand meters where he and a visitor were presumably preparing to do something Adult. (And this moron appears to script vehicles--for which banlines are just the thing. )
Later, in-world, I got the following gracious dispatch, apparently from the fair maiden of that realm:
From: someone
I know who you are talking about. I told him to put up the banlines, because we are F[...]ING TIRED of nosy, jealous, a[...]holes up our asses. Excuse me for wanting a f[...]ing skybox homepoint. And f[...] you very much, our Extreme ADULT business qualified for the swap, not his vehicles. Idiot.

All of which nicely supports my claim that whitelist banlines should require the landowner to be certified in their actual effects, and lack thereof.

LOL that actually seemed like a reasonable response if they've been visited by half of the people who had their land down as a choice.

As soon as residents arrive, the look and flow of any region goes to hell. Been to Bay Cities lately?

Hey now, those of us in Bay City do a bit better than what happened there within the first couple weeks of land sales. Perhaps Zindra will also settle out.

Hmmmm banlines ...

Is it fair? Those, who sent their tickets in the first two minutes got their land now ... we others, who were 5 or 10 minutes later will have to wait a week or two.

But not only wait, we also are sent to Zindra by the Lindens, cause our first choices are taken and they ask us to tell three more choices. That was no problem before, now, if we want to take a closer look we run and fly into banlines of those who were luckier with the land swap.

Fair? Businesslike? Hmmmm....

And yes, Zindra WAS nice ... at some areas it looks like normal mainland already. Let us talk about nicety, when all businesses are built and the first customers come ...

It's mainland. Banlines are legal. Who are we to tell people what to do with their parcels while they're not violating the TOS/CS? (O.o)

Can't ban ugly. (^_^)y

Yep banlines are legal.

But banlines are also a sign of bad neighbourhood.
They are a sign saying: this is mine! Stay outside! No trespassing!

SL is creative and showing creativity.
Banlines are the contrary.

SL is communication and neighbourhood and friendship.
Banlines demostrate the contrary attitude.

Zindra is just in a process to being given to many residents at the same time.
Banlines hinder from doing that without barriers.

Banlines are legal.
But creative, communicative human beings that come together in a virtual word .. what do they need banlines for. Even in the adult continent?

SL is for the creative people.
Banlines is for the people that don't want others to take part.

Banlines are legal.

There are many things that are legal and are stupid at the same time.
Legal is different from smart. Sometime smart fits legal, sometimes not.
Sometimes stupid fits legal, sometimes not.

I do not feel sad about banlines.
I feel sad for the people who need them.

What happened to the road network on zindra, last time I was there it had roads all over the place, you should be able walk around on those and not get hold back by a single ban line.

so just stick to public land or fly above 50 meter over land hight and you will be fine, just chill.

I won't be surrpiced if I'm banned by name on some parcels there for being a user of a child av and active in the forums. doesn't bother me one bit, if they feel I should not be on their parcel most likely I would not even want to be on it.

Well it sucks..
Its very unwelcoming...
And it simply makes looking for a suitable spot thats left very very hard.
Hopefully they can remove them soon though..

I'd say.. NO Banlines on main land anymore
Privat sims, ok...

Hopefully Linden Lab will come up with that idea ^_ ^

I say, allow banlines until LL comes up with another way to fence off property in order to insure privacy. You should have no right to trespass on some one else's plot of land.

Sorry, but there is no privacy in SL.

What do you need it for? As a businessman you want customers to come to your land. As a private resident you might need your privacy 1 hour, 4 hours ... maybe even 8 hours a day, but when you're off, you're out of SL.
(Many private sims say: banlines or orbs only if you are online on your property)

How can you get privacy with banlines? If you don't have a sim for you alone and with no other sim connecting, anybody can watch you in any height, behind doors and walls.

On the contrary: if you set up banlines, you make people curious, they will find the green dot(s) on map and minimap and know where to look.
If you watch the camera positions in the advanced menu you will find out, how often there are two avatars in your sex bed, but 3 or 4 cameras in the room.

With a camera control that ignores banlines, those red stripes of characters only have one purpose: to tell: Look here, stranger! The avatars behind these banlines might just do something naughty! Come and watch!

I imagine there are still a lot of looky ppls wandering around.
Maybe owners got sick of wandering around ppls after they got in and are probably waiting for Zindra to settle themselves.
Store sims close, throw up ban lines when they are constructing.
Is there any snow in the green?

he sounds like someone who doesn't actually USE his vehicles or he'd quite possibly hold a different view about banlines.

though it does make one wonder what types they DO like up their asses...

Why do you think you should be able to come on my land if I don't want you there? Why should it matter if I am online or not? I pay for it. Why shouldn't I be able to post my land as no trespassing if I so choose? Banlines are the only way to do this.
I totally agree, camera movements need to stop at a parcel edge.
It all comes down to principle. You believe in theft, I do not.
