RP In Areas Not Designated For That Sort of Thing...

Like the topic title? It took some time to come up with something that awkward.

The G.. the Go.. I can't say it. That other thread, over there, got me thinking a bit.

What do you all think of leashing and kneeling in mature spaces not specifically designated for such behaviours?

I admit that I love taking a girl out shopping when the space seems justifiably adult oriented. Like shopping for fetishy clothes or items. Attempts at sensible discretion are applied...

But I also wonder about dragging people into my own kink, which I'm doing just by being there in that situation. Is that fair to others? Should they *really* care, given where we are? It is mature land, more than likely, there's sexual imagery freaking eveywhere anyway...

Thoughts?

As long as dressed properly it should be perfectly fine (No silks showing their 'naughties' and such is what I mean, if theres a no-nudity policy)
I always kneel in public, I was ordered so... even if not with my Mistress. I've met people for job interviews and had to refuse a seat and kneel, because that was my order. I've never had anyone be openly biased against me because of it or anything. Never on a leash in public though.. my Mistress rarely does it at all anyway so meh.

If someone is bothered by it, then just.. don't talk about it to them or something.. kneeling is kneeling, whether for that or just for kneeling (Nadu though... I restrict nadu to only adult oriented sims, normally use tower)

It's Second Life. Not only does it not bother me, I miss it when I don't see it...or someone wandering around in a freebie Snoopy avatar.

In my opinion, it would depend upon the role play. A master and a slave out shopping for new leashes is one thing. A master and a slave RPing oral sex............take it private.

Doesn't bother me. As long as they aren't doing anything to annoy me, harrasing, or the like. They can even speak to me in their character if they wish. As long as they are keeping within the limits of the area in terms of PG or mature, and any restrictions the business owner may have, I don't care.

Personally I don't like it. I am very uncomfortable when I see Masters and Slaves out shopping or in other general areas. I cringe when I hear the Master barking out orders.

What do I think should be done about it? Absolutely nothing. There's no harm done, just my own issue. As Chris said, it's not like they're out having sex.

Just curious, a few days ago you said that people kept turning you down for jobs...I really really hate to say it, but they might be a bit taken aback when you kneel in a submissive posture...

It depends. If you're just doing your shopping thing and she happens to be kneeling at your feet, I really don't care. If you're engaging in or describing explicit activities of ANY sort in open chat, it's probably going to make me pissy. I also wasn't a fan of the guy dragging his bound, naked slave through Celestial City one night, while she did the whole "Yes, Master," "No, Master," "Whatever you wish, Master" spiel. On a semi side note, I checked his profile as well and he referred to himself in capital letters and third person all the way through, which made me want to stab him with something...it was just soooo arrogant.

I guess it comes down to enjoying yourself while still maintaining respect for the people around you, who may not be into what you're into.

Actually only been to two interviews as a submissive with those orders. One of them lead to me being partnered in business with someone, the other.. I dun remember lol

Hell no! I put that thing in a ziplock bag, put that bag into a box, plastic wrapped the box, and mailed it to Trout.

I personally find it very uncomfortable to be around people RPing the Master/Slave thing in general non RP public areas. It tends to feel like they are extending their bedroom out into the whole public space.

I accept the sexual choice they have made. But it is not mine and in my world the connotations are much too close to real slavery (which I have unfortunately seen firsthand).

I would never complain regarding such a thing. I just acknowledge we have differences of opinion and move my camera away or shift to a different part of the shop etc.

If they are RPing the sex, then sure, thats just plain rude. (In a normal non-sex place I mean..)

But.. its not just a sexual choice. Its a lifestyle, encompassing a hell of a lot more than sex, and its a commitment. If you're just reffering to the etiquette involved (Yes, Master/Mistress, etc) then.. why would that be uncomfortable? Its just like normal etiquette except titles are applied slightly differently. I found it rather refreshing to find people who spoke with respect, before I became a submissive myself.

If the shop is in an adult playground, and so many adult playgrounds have shops, then I see no problem. I see a problem if the shop is out of an adult playground. Or has little to do with kneeling slaves (like, say, Blaze - has some interesting dresses that actually revealed more than I expected, and there are also "underthings" there, but not the main focus of that shop). A shop that sells whips that is in a general mall? No nudity. Any PG land? No nudity (and probably no leashing and the like). Random mature land? Depends on the land, and what is occurring on the land.

Oh, and I was at a Halloween party last night and I changed into a costume (I had not realized it was a costume/Halloween party before arriving). I actually asked if my costume was ok (Princess Leia in slave costume), because the place strongly noted formal clothing. I was told that it was ok (but only after the person looked at what I was wearing).

The line is where I'm forced to move out of chat range to avoid the dom/sub exchanges filling my screen.

If it's not an RP area, I'd say keep it in IM.
