you can usually zoom in pretty close to where it is quite viewable. My TV at my home has a decent picture, and I can get it to almost fill the monitor screen. I went to the MST3K place recently, and I must admit it is one of the cooler places I've been to. We should have a party there.

I see. hhmm well I personally would feel silly watching 'tv' in SL unless it was a group event (similar to how silly I would feel going back to my SL home alone and dancing by myself.... ermm why not get off my PC and simply do it irl). Seems IMO its forcing a square peg in a round hole for no other reason then to force a square peg in a round hole when much easier options are availialbe off line. But again, thats just me.

But the social aspect does sounds interesting. May have to go to a SL movie event with friends and see what comes of it.

The same could be said about music . Why go into a club, and sit, or try to Lag Dance when you can just put the CD into the home stereo and listen.

I think, in fairness, most ppl go for the social aspect and the club aspect is just frosting to the cake. As you said above a similar argument could be made about movie watching, its a social thing not so much watching just to watch it. :)

Why listen to the same dozen CD's over and over when you can listen to good music from all over the world?

Agreed. I'm one of those RL companies Stay Out people. I'm going to buy from a resident 100% of the time if given a choice. . Not being a creator I marvel at all the things people make that I enjoy in SL. If you have spent the time to make it and think it's worth selling, good for you. I recently visited a shop owned by a forum member and bought several items, noting to return when I bought more Lindens as there were many items I wanted. When I returned, she was at the store, and thanked me, telling me I was her very first customer. That made me smile.

Ooh, I think that might be me!! You certainly were my first customer and it gave me such a boost that someone would buy my stuff. I don't think I'm a particularly brilliant builder, (builder seems like a funny word for a shoe and bag maker, but anyway!) but I do enjoy what I do, and I'm happy that people like what I make. There have been things that I have bought that I've been not entirely happy with, but SL is all about learning new stuff, meeting new people and having fun. In with all that there will occasionally be irritations and disappointments, but that's (s)life!

To the OP:

Yes, I totally agree. I can talk about this until I'm blue in the face (I don't need oxogen, however, I can turn my face blue on command).

Many people have the ability to 'build' in SL. They are excited about the fact that they can create something, and put it up for sale. Some of the time, people are so oblivious to how bad their items are--they can either be very young and inexperienced...or not very intellegent. Or they just don't give a damn, and they hope people will buy thier items anyway--trust me, a lot of people know how much they 'suck' at modeling and texturing, but they keep on pushing out products, in hopes of sales.

Now, I'm all about people continually practicing if they suck...we all sucked at modeling at one point or another. But the difference is, the smart ones amongst us, didn't try to buy a sim, create a logo in 'Paint', and market wretched product. A lot of us practiced, and got better...and when we had something we could be 'proud' of...then and only then did we put it up for mass consumption.

What also irks me...are how there are so many carbon copies out there...I mean, how many grundge stores can you have? How many plaid skirts? There are SO many options for product, why does nearly everyone make clothing? And why does everyone do the same thing?

Also, what irks me is bad store design. You have this sellable product in your hands...now why do you just put flat posters on your wall, and sell the product. If you have a vendor or store location, use some freakin' design in your store...use some thought. It's very important for your storefront or vendor to look good. Just pasting your product side-by-side and selling them isn't appealing. It's much better to go for less, and make it look better. Use some bloody white space! :)

Anyway. Oh, design. I'm going to RL work now...I'll jump back on when I get there. :)

Hello Ricardo,

I'm certainly not going to bandy words with someone as articulate and erudite as yourself.

I would however point out something that a man of your obvious intellect must already know.

The vendor of the "films" you bought is in fact indulging in what in the UK at least is called online piracy. This is an illegal activity and as such probably means that your rights as a consumer are pretty much null and void.

Since this situation would be transparent to most individuals over the age of 12, I'm assuming that you must have some reason for starting this thread that is simply opaque to people of lesser IQ such as ourselves.

I'm afraid you will have to explain your point more clearly so that we lesser beings can understand.
