I know nothing about any such link, which you wouldn't have sent me anyway, even if I had asked.

/me nods sagely . . . ;)

(So, um . . . how did you score, anyway? :D )

What I would like to know is how and why Pep had those surveys that were obviously designed for teen age girls so readily available for contribution to this thread.

Oh, if only it were true that Cosmo *were* read only by teenaged girls . . . It's a perennial favourite of a certain set of women who are frequently approaching, or have even passed into, middle age.

It also appears to appeal to another hitherto unconsidered demographic: 50-something male expatriate Welshmen . . .

/me muses on the likelihood of an AR succeeding on the basis of implied paedophilia.

Pep (In the real world you'd be hit for libel without a second thought.)

@Eli: I don't suppose you've been blessed with a wife and daughter, so your ignorance is understandable.

@Chris: I'm surprised you can joke about such things, since you claim to have a little girl yourself.

Not stated as fact and I am in no position to know the contents of your pockets, so I am not a reliable source. Then there is the argument that by posting on this forum you are a public figure, so libel charges do not apply.

Incorrect but defaming opinion is actionable, and in fact is the crux of the matter. You would be crucified in a real world court, and attempted humour would not be a defence.

I'm not sure about the possibility of any recent US legislation, but the "public figure" issue has been thrown out any number of times in the UK in the last year that I can remember.

Pep (Your and Eli's sense of humour is seriously suspect, regardless of the legal situation.)

Wrong on both counts. I just never took their reading material with me to the bathroom. :p
You might want to check out Field and Stream or Reader's Digest.

Why do I get the feeling I don't believe you? It doesn't matter anyway. It must have been long enough ago that you have forgotten.

I'll believe that though.

Never seen a copy of either. Are they American publications?

Goodness, Chris...you seem to have actually gotten under Pep's skin. Peppy, not a thing Chris said is actionable. But it's so funny watching you fume and boil for once, instead of things being the other way around.

(I thought Chris and Eli were incredibly funny)

Oh goody! I was hoping that we could sweep away this light-hearted repartee, and get down to some really SERIOUS name-calling . . .

Since I am not in the UK and never intend to be......your laws don't matter to me. In the US, opinion is protected.

See Falwell vs. Hustler Magazine.

It appears that someone has lost that sense of humor that they so often boast about.

Jealousy will do that to you.

"Funny"? Interesting that you think paedophilia is amusing. I don't.

Pep (But then, I have a daughter; perhaps you haven't been blessed that way either.)

Surprisingly enough, I don't have a sense of humour regarding paedophilia.

Pep (In line with LL's attitude, apparently.)

You're obviously just having problems with Mickey's incoherence.

I'm a little puzzled by the supposed link between Eli's post and implied paedophilia.

(/me flies Pep to Colorado and buys him some medical marijuana so he can mellow out)

What, Cosmo is ALLLLL about teh sexxors, why should it be a surprise that it might appeal to any man?

Particularly if they spend any time in the line at a grocery. I'm always amazed at what Cosmo gets away with, right next to the bubblegum. Gives me hope for the country, in an odd way. Collectively, we're generally such prudes.
