OK folks, it is REAL EASY to tell who is a female and who is a male.
Just give the suspect avatar a complicate gadget that comes with a manual. If they just poke the thing about and complain because they can't figure out how to work it - male. If they read the manual then happily use the gadget they are a woman. Simple _____________________

Aww rats, have I gotta make a wolf avie now? Nah there are plenty of nice ones out there, so just a shopping spree  I follow a simple rule. RL stays separate for the most part. How you present in SL is how I treat you in SL There are many 'rl males' that are going through changes to be what they feel is right. There are many 'rl females' that are curious about the other side of things (trust me, females get far far more freebies from folks...) or simply don't want to be hit on by the newbie with the freebie hanging out |

Sad thing is that there was actually a rumor about me like that. It wound up being a seriously tough week and I eventually was FORCED to go in to voice chat to debunk it and prove that I really am just the freakshow I make myself out to be. Anytime people ask me about my RL gender, I always tell them I'm a "19 year old HOT BI BABE with large breasts" who is roleplaying being a guy. _____________________

I've been playing with changing my voice.
I am starting with vocabulary and strength. Things like "I am thinking of doing x" instead of "I plan on doing x" http://heartcorps.com/journeys/voice.htm PS: 1. 105% of all statistics are made up including this one. 2. No one exists.  The planet has a finite number of people and the universe is believed to be infinite. so (according to the hitch hikers guide to the galaxy) any finite number divided by and infinite number can be roughly rounded to ZERO. so if the average population of all the planets are ZERO then it's safe to say that every planet has a population of ZERO. Therefore any people/animals/things you run into are just a result of your deranged imagination. I was 215 pounds until I started playing world of warcraft, and then I dropped to 183 due to lack of food, quite simply. Being on the computer causes me to lose, not gain.. which isn't always a good thing. However, being 6'0, 183 pounds is just BARELY in the normal weight range, as 184 is considered overweight... I know what you mean. I’m 6’2” in RL and went from 220 to 180 lbs during my first year in SL simply because I won’t eat at the computer. I’d probably feel great if I wasn’t so sleepy all the time As far as the gender thing goes, a close friend of mine can only be on SL as her male alt because her husband won’t let her on otherwise…sad but true.  I’ve yet to hear a voice changer that’s convincing, so I’d be interested in hearing it. |

My opinion of men playing women: I don't care. They're the ones walking around with boobies; if they don't want me to make a pass them, don't play a female. As far as I am concerned, I'm chatting with a woman, dancing with a woman or trying to talk a woman out of their clothes He's the one having cyberz with a guy. This is a good example of WHY I dont engage in "Pixel Sex" in SL.
Ya never know who's at the other end. Reminds me of the time I called a phone sex number. After the sultry, sexy voice at the end was done with our "Business" she reminded me to tell Dad she'd be home at the usual time. Just kidding about that part.  _____________________

If I see a female AV I take it that its a female controlling it, I have my doubts about the super shiny practically naked prim boobied avatars, but I tend not to talk to them much anyway. I just wouldn't ask anyone what their actual sex is, unless they initiate the topic it just seems kind of rude. |

in my experience, the only surefire way to tell that your partner is a man, is if they ask if you're "really a woman".
Women don't seem to be terribly concerned about this. Actually, now that I think about it.. nearly every person I have known who was concerned about that, ended up being not only male in RL, but underage. _____________________

The anecdotal evidence suggests that 80% of female AV's are actually males in RL, 19% are true females but 200 lbs heavier in RL, and the remaining 1% are underage. Similarly, if you see a male AV with six-pack abs, it's a certainty that the only six-packs he's got in RL are empty aluminum cans strewn around his beer stained keyboard, and his abs are a distant memory. Not to make too fine a point of it, but the statistics that Philip Rosedale gave recently in an interview is that 35% of the SL population are really female. The total breakdown in SL is about 50/50 male to female. So, approx. 15% of female avs are RL males. The open question is whether there are a significant number of RL females who have male SL avatars.  _____________________
