I am not interested in that sort of thing personally and might be slightly put of myself but I have seen this behavior more with the male avatars then females.
Oh well. People can do what they like and what is fun for them. It isn't any of my business.

It's funny you say that. This morning I was in a store shopping and there were two female avatars. They were talking about the "slutty" clothes they bought for their avatars. They made comments like "You can tell I am a man just by the way I dress her hehe..." I was kind of surprised actually. Must get out of my bubble more.....

Ok..my nipple piercings is high quality from AddiXion....look realistic and all. (I was newer a piercing-and tattoos girl before I joined a nudist beach....then I needed to have something to "dress" the naked body in, LOL) So I was throwing on clothes in a hurry and leaving.....about 2 hrs later I found out that I forgot to take off the nipplepiercings......and NOBODY told me....

So therefore I strongy advice: Buy bling, so perhaps you'll notice them and take them off!

What really stinks is that if a gay man meets another gay man, they are pretty sure they are both gay men. A gay woman, onthe otherhand, is almost certian to find many crossgenders before actually meeting another gay woman.

Seriously, I'm not sure where you get that 50% of SL females are gay from. I'd hazard to guess that it's more like:

80% of SL residents are female
20% of those are guys in drag (not sure that I care if they're gay or not)
50% of those are marginally bored married women

as a Rl female i have my "slutty moments'..while i don't go out and buy bling or bighair..or things that involve stillettos..i do dress more revealing..maybe buy a tattoo or go to a nude beach.

I always assumed those "female avatars" who did have the BIG hair and bling were simply those rl women out there without good taste..(the term "good" being subjective ofcourse.)They do exist.

I went thru a phase where i suspected that every male avatar out there who wanted to perform cunnilingus was infact a lesbian RL. I'm sure that's not true. but we have to be careful about broad stereotypes.

Not necessarily a bad thing. I've encountered guys who complain that their search for SL dates is complicated by suspecting that the woman they're talking to is actually a guy.

Soooo, by dessing super-sleazy, the guys in drag are actually making it easier to be recognized as such. Yesterday I saw someone in red thong, leather chaps and floorlength wig gyrating at a very casual blues club. Huge set of shoulders on her, though. Come ON! Too easy.

I'm sticking to that theory because I really hate the idea of 'real' women actually displaying themselves like this in public - errrr, special occasions/venues excepted

There is sexy, alluring and/or provocative - and there is something that belongs on the street corner.

Its hard to know how many Residents are really female and male, however people seem to ignore a lot of Realities when they churn out their made up statistics.

Some Examples -


Many of the men I know tend to spend less time in SL than the Women. They often play WOW or what not; it stands to reason if they are playing 2 or 3 Online games they will be on each less often.

There are a lot of stay at home Moms who play SL instead of watch Soap Operas which definitely would make it seem like theres more women on all the time.

Many see SL as a shopping simulator - Women tend to have more of an interest in shopping. Anecdotally - My RL husband and My RL son begin to lose patience after 20 minutes in a RL Clothing Store.

On the Sexual Preference thing -
Most of the women I know in SL are straight. Most of the Bi women I know in SL have never even tried being Bi IRL. Many of the "SL lesbians" I know are actually also straight women IRL.

I do know quite a few Gender Benders who have admitted it to me over the years. Some of those call themselves Lesbians. Some consider themselves TG. Not always the same people.

I think the majority call themselves "Bi", but you'll never see them actually dating men. They are nowhere near the majority of female Avs I know.

Walk into just about any dance club and you'll get the distinct impression it's girls' night out. Prims flying everywhere, it's scary I tell you.

The information doesn't track actual SL online use based on RL gender however.

So if those 40% of women spend a significantly larger amount of time in SL than those 60% men...

Its still going to feel like there are more women than men in SL.
