Sex Beds Banned in PG land

The final "maturity ratings" have been posted to the Knowledge Base:

It not only defines the new adult category, it changes what is allowed on Mature and PG land. In particular for PG:

"A Region may be designated PG if it does not advertise or make available content or activity that's sexually explicit, violent or depicts nudity. Likewise, sexually-oriented objects such as "sex beds" or poseballs may not be located or sold in PG regions."

So any of you that have private homes on PG land with sex furniture or poseballs are in violation of the new ratings. Likewise any stores that sell such things on PG land are in violation.

There are 1422 mainland and 3422 estate PG regions. The Linden staff obviously do not have time to visit that many places looking for sex furniture, but the new rules *do* place you at risk for an abuse report for violating the policy.

Blondin Linden, in his office hours yesterday asked:

"Are there people selling sex beds on PG sims?"

I used the 1.23RC software, Search/All, with only the PG maturity checkbox turned on.

For the word "sexbed" there are 2160 results.
For the word "animations" there are 9170 results
For "adult animations" there are 1880 results

So I think the answer is a clear yes.

Well, shops not being allowed to sell these on PG would be a bit of an obvious one. Shops are more or less public areas. And you just can't have people "trying out" a sexbed in a public place like a shop.

It's a bit greyer in a closed house with locked doors and a good roof over it, but then you have to remind yourself: why did I choose a PG area to place my house, when I obviously AM interrested in having mature content?
If you're caught in this catch, you might want to file a JIRA for relocation, though Linden can probably get away with telling you that you're SOL, since you knew it was a PG area, and dispite it never having been enforced too thoroughly, sexbeds were never really allowed in PG areas, though cuddlebeds were.
The departure of a lot of the sex industry to Zindra or whatever it's called should cause a temporary drop in Mature parcel prices, while I doubt many people will want to relocate from PG to Mature, simply because there are less people on PG, so keep an eye out for a nice bargain if you have to.

In the end, just take the more mature poses out of your bed, and you should be fine, or relocate to Mature.

Knowledge Base page 6010 has a visitor counter. It stood at about 12,500 before the latest revision. Therefore it has been viewed about 5000 times since then, out of an active player population of about 800,000.

Marcush says "people should have known", but the fact is a lot of them do not. I have met many people, who are not newbies, but do not know if their home is on mainland or estate, or know what all the stuff on the top line of the screen means.

The maturity definitions were viewed only 12,500 times in all the time before this week, ever. Compare that to the couple of million who played actively at one time or another the last few years.

LL keeps tigtening the definitions of "adult", soon you can't even sneeze in a PG region without being abuse reported.

There is actually one good thing with that: Since everything will be "Adult" eventually, everything PG will disappear and all of SL will be "Adult"...

When I joined SL and read the TOS/CS, I basically accepted the notion that (PG) regions don't allow sex at all. Not in "private" homes or otherwise. On top of that, when people did get away with it, it was because Linden Lab relies on Abuse Reports before they do anything. (=_=)

LL is simply re-stating what you can do in an area of a certain type, and what not.

You don't subscribe to the playboy channel because you can. You subscribe to it because it interrests you. You don't subscribe to the National Geographic Channel because you can, you subscribe to it because it interrests you.
Don't like it? Then don't subscribe to it. But don't say the National Geographic Channel should go because it doesn't interrest you, since most probably, others do watch it.

Please post any information you have that the adult changes were in any way asked for by owners of PG land, or PG Users (whatever that is).

It's an epic leap of faith to assume that the Lindens, that rarely listen to anyone, would listen to a group that comprises a very small percentage of the user base.

They've stated numerous times that the policy was a result of feedback from users who wanted a predictable PG experience. Whether or not those statements can be taken at face value or are a pack of lies is another issue.

In any case, if someone is using their land for sex beds or getting their digital freak on, they should have bought Mature land in the first place. PG regions are already supposed to be free from sexually explicit behavior.

I don't see how anyone could complain about this. LL is telling people to use PG land in a PG manner. PG landowners shouldn't have a problem with it.

ABSOLUTELY! It is and has always been. Sex, obscene language, nudity, and violence are all things NOT allowed in PG sims. Never have been. Just enforced strictly by AR. AR or it didn't happen. (^_^)

This is a case of "You're only in trouble if you're caught". Think of all the nasty things you see in (PG) welcome areas. They're all TOS/CS violations. But nothing will happen until they're ARed. That's how it works. That's what it's there for. (=_=)

You CAN theoretically have a mass-ageplay-orgy in the middle of a (PG) welcome area if nobody cares enough to send an AR. But, the moment that AR comes around, don't expect your account to last long. =^-^=

As I understand it, you'll have to move your store to Adult land. However, your customers will be able to use your sex animation products in the privacy of their homes in Mature land, but not PG land.

By my understanding, which might be wrong, if you sell furniture and some of it happens to have sex animations, that's permitted on Mature land. But if the primary focus of the products is of a sexual nature (as most of your current shop is), it has to be on Adult land.

Ok....what I really want to know.....is where are these residents who are running around AR'ing people for having sexgen furniture in their PRIVATE homes.....and what the hell are they doing snooping around somene's private property!!??

This brings to mind a video clip.....wish I could find it.....but it's a congressinal meeting over sodomy laws ..... and it's gotta be the funniest most insane thing I've ever seen. At one point a woman on the podium (in defense of said topic) is trying delicatly to gode the congressman (I think a Texas republican who looked like he probably had some issues with regards to his own sexuality)....anyway.....this woman says....trying desperately not to laugh and maintain a serious and professional demeanor......"So what if my husband slips? My understanding was that these things were not allowed *in public* in PG sims. But, evidently I'm wrong. But I got that understanding from lots of other people who'd been here longer than I had, back when I joined, in late 2006, so evidently it's a common misconception.

That goes back to my "AR or it didn't happen" statement. While they ARE violations, they are not enforced without a witness. Be it a ARing resident or a Linden present. (^_^)

In practice, lots and lots of people will do adult things in private in PG land and nobody will ever know or care. But doing so puts you at risk to be AR'd, so it would be wise for those with homes on PG land to move, if they plan on much mature activity.

this is all prep for when they merge us with the teen grid. i suspect banlines for age verification will be the norm as well.
