You're not alone... also, I now stop at a store along my route from work to home to pick up any groceries I might need so I don't starve to death, but I have switched from actual cooking to sandwiches, microwavable dinners & fast food. My family only sees me on holidays and birthdays and I wish I was old enough to retire.
EDIT: I wish I was rich enough to retire, screw that getting any older stuff. ![]() |

This might be an odd question, but I was wondering if I'm the only one who has let their house TOTALLY go since playing SL. My house is a mess, and I keep saying, well I'll only be on SL for an hour, then go do my dishes. Five hours later, Im still sitting here! Am I just a total loser? ROFL..seriously? Is it just me, if so, someone please come knock some sense into me! at least i'm not the only one i live alone except for my dog, and i deffinatly look after her better than i do myself. my place is a frikken mess i'm constantly finding reasons to go out somewhere with friends instead of inviting them over now. it's just easier ![]() dirty dishes, un vaccumed floor, man need to clean the bathroom too. and lets not forget the clothes washing that i start and then forget to take out of the machine *shakes head* but what can ya do ![]() -Crunch Either of these posts could have been written by me. Glad I'm not the only one, but still, it IS frightening. |

Oh wow, I'm glad I'm not the only person getting in trouble with his partner for not doing enough housework!
Ever since my SL addiction began, housework has been our most common problem. My partner raises the issue frequently, and my face goes *eyes glaze over* I know I don't do enough housework, but it seems that by the time I remember there were dishes I was supposed to wash, that somebody has already washed them. Yup, must have been that autoreturn. |

My partner raises the issue frequently, and my face goes *eyes glaze over* Yea, sometimes my husband sees this vacant look on my face and asks me what I'm thinking about? And I can't bring myself to tell him the truth because I know he thinks I'm already nuts. "Oh honey, just thinking about how many prims I have left over, and if I have enough to buy that jacuzzi for my side yard..." And that's not the worst of it lol. Ugh! _____________________

I did cut up and throw away my carpet when it sprouted a two inch thick growth of fungus in the summer ... July, if I remember correctly, after that heavy rain came in. Does that count as house worK?

honey, i can think of a million things i'd rather do than clean the house. my computer is only one such distraction. LOL you are normal. Staring into space and drooling sounds better to me than house cleaning. I've come up with many excuses to tell loved ones over the years. Dish washing gives me a backache - the sink's too low. Why make the bed? It'll only get all messed up again. Dusting? Just go 'Hooooooooooh', and it will magically disappear. Those aren't crumbs on the sofa, they're snacks for later... Those towels ARE clean, I just 'washed' them with my freshly-showered body. I keep my windows dirty on purpose, don't want any birds to crash and kill themselves, (poor birdies). |

Well, I had been doing fairly good at keeping up with the chores until recently. My last birdie has flown the nest (college) and now I find that I have plently of time to let things go.
My daughter would stand over me at my computer, watch me doing whatever SL thing I was doing and finally say, "Mom, um...do you want me to get those dishes/that laundry/that trash for ya?" To which I would reply, without looking up, "oh ya hunny, thanks". She would pat my shoulder in that "you're so weird" way and go do whatever it was for me. ![]() Now that she's gone and I have no accountability, I find myself looking at the clock and realizing 4 hours have gone by and I haven't eaten or bathed, when I told myself I would be on for "just a bit". *sigh* I've decided to just not fight it. My dog gets brushed and fed, the kitty boxes get scooped and they are fed & catnipped. That's most important anyway. Do I really need to bathe? Nah. _____________________

Yummy thank you so much for starting this thread. This has been on my mind a lot lately as I'm in the middle of a SL project that is consuming a lot of my time and I'm not even doing the little housework I used to do. I'm one of those people who not only loathe housework, I really stink at it. It takes me far longer than it should so when I do it, it is very time consuming. I am actually considering having cleaning help come in. Usually I have cleaning help if I have a RL show to do but now that I'm in SL so much, its like having a job again. I just hate how messy the house is getting. And don't you find after being busy in SL, you feel like a rest? read a book, decompress a bit? I'm not sure what the answer is but I for one do have to find one. It is not cool to be embarrassed about how horrible the place looks whenever I go outofworld. I see scheduling as a possible answer but if you are inworld and working with different time zones, I find that time takes on a whole new meaning in RL too. I nap more than have a night's sleep now..does this happen to other folk too? MY GOD! I'm SOOO glad to hear I'm not the only one! ALl of you have made me feel a little LESS of a loser..lol..no offense, of course. But I seriously have become a veggie to SL, and I look around my room and it looks like a college dorm party was held here, and it's just ME! I wouldnt feel so bad if there WOULD have been a party, at least there'd be a legitimate excuse. And, like some of you, I forget to eat until its time for bed! I mean..i drink a 12 pack of diet coke, but eating? Hell that means I have to get up and go fix something! It's awful! If i was rich, Id hire someone to come clean. Yep, looks like I need an arse kickin! Or maybe it's finally dawning on me, geez, I better do something quick or end up on How Clean Is Your House. _____________________

I did used to be like that. But after a while it went away.
I guess its like anything with a very strong appeal it has a long novelty period. I have the forums on most of the day but not SL, and I get my housework done in between setting people straight ( ) |

Same here, I tend to have the forums up more than SL. Odd little switch that I figured was just me. More conversations go on in here than I see in SL half the time, I need to find new places to visit.
Laundry is my worst issue...starting it and then not putting it away. The pile, o the pile!! _____________________

Huh, well I'm moving across country in roughly 15 days. I haven't even bought boxes or packing tape yet. Ugh. Maybe I'll just give everything to Goodwill.

(at least, let it be stress free...) I've moved over thirty times and the packing is the worst part Once you've arrived, and the last box is finally through the door, it's great. A whole new world to investigate! Then the packing simply becomes a bad memory quickly forgotten, (a little like childbirth I hear). ![]() |

Seriously, Yummy, tidy your house. Even SL will appear better when there are beds made, furniture polished, flowers in vases on the table. I tell my house servant that everyday. Believe me.

It's not so much that the time I spend in SL keeps me from cleaning my rl house as that when my rl house is less clean I feel like spending more time in my nice clean sl environment.
Good luck with that move Oryx! _____________________

I've decided that the boxes that I never unpacked from the last major move are obviously unneeded, since I can't even remember what's in them. Out they go, straight into the trash. Whew, that's easy! _____________________

I'm just so delighted at having read this particular thread.... I thought I was the only one. As I sit here now, looking around, my RL house is in such a mess....especially my computer desk/room. I have an ashtray that is just an amazing feat of engineering... I might see just how many ciggies one can put out in the same ashtray without emptying it.
Just had a great idea...why don't we all get together and buy a huge house that we can all live in..... |

Maybe I'll just give everything to Goodwill. ![]() Before I bought my own house, that's what I would do. I was the Ikea Queen. The stuff would last until I was ready for a new place. with th exception of my 2 TV's, which each are 15 years old and will be replaced this year, I went totally new when I moved into the house. SL really hasn't altered my housecleaning habits much. I'm a fairly good housekeeper, the only problems arise when RL gets too busy as well. then my free time is limited, and a choice has to be made between SL and Mount Washmore. _____________________
