This might be an odd question, but I was wondering if I'm the only one who has let their house TOTALLY go since playing SL. My house is a mess, and I keep saying, well I'll only be on SL for an hour, then go do my dishes. Five hours later, Im still sitting here! Am I just a total loser? ROFL..seriously? Is it just me, if so, someone please come knock some sense into me!

Get involved in more messy online breakups

It will help.

Well it will help the problem you mentioned anyhow.

I'm the same way, except I have kids, so have to spend some time cleaning, for their sake!...lol Anyone who knows me in RL knows that I'm soooo not domestic. I really detest to clean, and never understood those people who enjoy it. I do it because it has to be done, not because it's my idea of a good time. So, therefore, any excuse not to do it is a good excuse in my book. However, I've learned to be strict with myself when it comes to SL. During the week, I try to limit my time on here to when my kids are in bed. (My RL husband plays, too, so don't have to worry about him....lol) On the weekends, I try to get my chores done before my son naps, so I can use his nap time to play. My hubby helps around the house a bit, doing laundry and dishes, so that is good, too. If I lived alone, though, and played on SL.........I don't even want to think about the hovel I would probably be living in! ;)

But keeping your SL house clean is soooo much easier than RL! It gives you that feeling that all is well .....until you turn off your PC and take a look around!

Luckily, my RL home requires little upkeep - no kids, no pets and my husband is a pitch in kind of guy.

However, I have to admit, much as I hate to, that getting things done since I've gotten this other life has become, ummm, a bit difficult. I used to work full time, and only had evenings available, when my husband would travel on business so that kind of kept me in check.

However, I'm working part-time now and this has created a lot more free time to be involved in my other life during the daytime a few days a week. The only saving grace is that I have little responsibilites other than some basic errands, personal appointments and such, but I hate to admit that even remembering to eat lunch sometimes is a vague memory (thank god there is Fage Yougurt cups with Cherries! Easy to eat and type at the same time! Gee, maybe if I'm lucky, I will wind up looking as hawt as my Av someday!).

I think everyone goes through a phase of ignoring their RL, especially at the beginning when everything is new and shiney. It was particularly hard when I was first starting up my home here. Things have settled down somewhat, I have more of a routine now - mornings are always inworld when I'm home, but I really push myself to get out of the house in the afternoon to do what I need to do. And, I never ignore anything which really HAS to be done. My evenings have not been inworld much at all, since my husband hasn't been traveling as much lately - have to admit, wish they would call him away again, sad, but true. I could use some more quality time with my inworld friends, that aren't on in the daytime...

Yep, this place can be all consuming if you let it. It's a tricky balancing act to be sure.

Get into the Linden pod. It is powered by your human body heat; it converts it into electricity to power your Rosie-like housemaid robot. Now if you'll just plug this ethernet cable into the back of your head...you'll never have to worry about anything other than the Matrix..I mean...Second Life again.

I found that the leaf blower thing makes a great duster.. and if it's light enough to be blown by that, then I don't need it out! :)

Downside is that the cats come bite me afterwards...

Schedule important things to do in SL for Wednesday mornings, most weeks you'll have free time and if you can keep your ass off the forums you can get stuff done.

Hasn't really worked for me yet, but thought it might for someone else. :p

lol. The strange thing is that i actually like *some* aspects of cleaning. I like doing the pots and occasionally - this is really wierd - i enjoy cleaning the bathroom - provided it isn't terrible. Just a couple of routine cleaning things that i like.
But since SL took over me i am getting told off for not doing my usual jobs. I have to put off turning the PC on because once i am online it is hard for me to log out and turn the pc off. hours go by in the blink of an eye.

PS I wish people would stop having a go at living with mothers :p  :D

This is why weekly Wednesday updates worked well for me. Maybe that is why I still see Wednesdays as a dedicated house cleaning day. lol

Housework? What is this.. housework of which you speak?

In my case, I do housework. I work in SL between loads of laundry and dishes.. and pick up along the way to do them.

I hate housework. Hate it, dont like it, detest it, am not fond of it, and will find any excuse to not do it. Now that my kids are older and can shovel up their own toys, its not as bad at least, but still...its called work for a reason. The sad thing is, I went to clean up and kept trying to just stuff things into my inventory but they wouldnt go. They just laid there...I think my house had asset server issues or some such thing and I couldnt blame anyone else as I am the one in control of its maintenance. Then there are the nights I know I cleaned up, but when I get up and people have gotten up before me, its all out again. Maybe a house server glitch, I tried to contact support but my husband just told me to do it since he was at work. I should cancel my account since it always seems broken on this home server I tell ya!!! :p

Yummy thank you so much for starting this thread. This has been on my mind a lot lately as I'm in the middle of a SL project that is consuming a lot of my time and I'm not even doing the little housework I used to do.

I'm one of those people who not only loathe housework, I really stink at it. It takes me far longer than it should so when I do it, it is very time consuming.

I am actually considering having cleaning help come in. Usually I have cleaning help if I have a RL show to do but now that I'm in SL so much, its like having a job again.

I just hate how messy the house is getting. And don't you find after being busy in SL, you feel like a rest? read a book, decompress a bit?

I'm not sure what the answer is but I for one do have to find one. It is not cool to be embarrassed about how horrible the place looks whenever I go outofworld.

I see scheduling as a possible answer but if you are inworld and working with different time zones, I find that time takes on a whole new meaning in RL too. I nap more than have a night's sleep now..does this happen to other folk too?
