I once had a RL partner who was 25 years older than me. I think at the time I was looking not for a father figure, but just for somebody grown-up, somebody I could respect.
What I hadn't accounted for was that the sort of older man who goes for a much younger woman often isn't very grown-up or worthy of respect. Of course, there are exceptions. _____________________

That's not nice. There are no major issues with such an age difference - except in the eyes of some of the smaller-minded onlookers. Somehow I think the age difference thing isn't the *only* thing being considered here.. you may peruse the OP's posting history at your lesiure. Hmn, I fell in love with Paul Newman the 1st time I saw Cool Hand Luke, and I'd say there was waaaaaay more than a 15 year age difference there. Same with Richard Gere after seeing An Officer and a Gentleman, swoon. Shoot, I even thought Rutger Hauer as Batty was divine, and again an age gap. Lotta difference between a crush on a movie star and spending 1 on 1 time together in a full fledged relationship. What I hadn't accounted for was that the sort of older man who goes for a much younger woman often isn't very grown-up or worthy of respect. This... a million times this. Been there, done that (a loooooong time ago.. prob before OP was ever born. I'm RL Female). It's ok to do it once and learn the lesson but when you repeat it.. yeah... again.. issues. |

Jig, I really do not like to see a young woman describe herself as "a good catch"! I think it is old fashioned and demeaning and I should not want my daughter thinking like that. I thought the days when a woman's main purpose in life was to get a man were long gone! Honestly, the younger generation make me wonder why I burnt my bra! Think of the Suffragettes! You should be ashamed of yourself! As I move toward my 30s I realize I will prolly never marry. But its just an expression I use as in "He's a good catch" meaning his cd did well in the chats or he doesnt have the clap (joke). He took me to see shows and theatre and concerts. He watched over me and protected me. He always treated me with respect and honour. He gave me my REAL "polish". He is still a best friend in real. Still my "East End Boy" though he is now a 67 year old man. So you dated this man when you were about 14? (I recall you saying your age was 26 now and said he was 55 when you dated him.)
