From: Ephraim Kappler Why can't people just get it on and love each other?

It's like the summer of '68 never happened. LOL I am trying very hard . . . and utterly without success . . . to imagine a long-haired Ephraim peddling love and understanding on the corner of Haight-Ashbury.

From: Phil Deakins She was reading this thread when I wrote to her. I'll wait to see what she says - if she replies. I doubt that she reads everything, so she'll miss quite a bit of the harrassment, and it's only in the last couple of weeks that it's been like it is now, so, even if she thinks it's really bad, she may prefer to see if it blows over. Even if Millie is fully aware of the situation and is in tottal agreement with you, she can't do anything beyond lock a thread. Any further sanctions have to come from a Linden, and we know how willing they are to take any action in this forum.

But, if she sees it as bad, she could have a quiet word with him and, if that doesn't do any good, she could perhaps contact someone who has more authority, and who is able to actually do something. BUT... She was shown as reading this thread when I PMed her and she hasn't replied yet, so I'm not hopeful now.

From: Phil Deakins I've asked her if anyone ever reads them and if they get sent to her. I know she can't do very much herself but, if she receives them from different people, she could possibly have a private word with him and, if that doesn't stop it, maybe she could contact someone who can do something. I have reported one of his posts recently. Not because of this dance between you, but because he gave a new poster who came here to ask a question, his usual warm welcome. I think new posters should not experience that. One of the things I dislike most about him, is that he *must* comment about everything, even if he has nothing constructive to say about the questions asked. That will not stop before all ignores him, but there will always be new posters.

I hadn't seen it before but it showed in her profile page when I opened it. There's also a link where you can list everyone who is in and see where they are. I always struggle to find that list or I'd tell you where it is.

From: Phil Deakins ... there is the additional wrong that people who are not familiar with what happened will no doubt get the impression that Rhonda is a bad lot, simply because nobody comes to her defense. It's not in me to sit back and let that happen to someone if I can do anything about it. ... Some new folks might actually go searching to see what started it all. Pep is known for deleting posts, so many of us quote him in order to preserve what he says. In this case, not only did Pep delete the posts that surrounded the incident, but Rhonda deleted hers as well. Therefore, any new person is only going to a one-sided view of the situation, biased by the feelings of the one giving the account.

The other one is the last option under "Quick Links," I think. But it generates a huge list that covers everyone in all of the forums.

One of the things I dislike most about him, is that he *must* comment about everything, even if he has nothing constructive to say about the questions asked. That will not stop before all ignores him, but there will always be new posters. It isn't really a dance between him and me, Marianne. It's that he writes a poison post about Rhonda, and I call him out on it and suggest that he stops doing it. It's just that I'm the one who does it the most because it bothers me that he continues to get away with targetting an individual. I can't just turn a blind eye to it - and I wouldn't want to. In another thread that he poisoned, someone posted a list of people who had left the forum because of him, and the night before that, someone else (a popular ex-forum user) told me that she stopped posting because of him. I don't get on his back for any of it, but his current crusade against Rhonda is something that it's not in me to ignore - and it wouldn't matter who the target is. I've only ever met Rhonda once and that was after I'd become involved in this lot, so it's not the target that caused me to get into it - it's what he's doing to the target that causes it.

From: Waterstar Eilde Every teacher worth their salt will tell you that the thing the attention-seeking playground tease, clown, straight-out bully or sociopath hates most of all is being ignored. As difficult as it is to do, it's the only strategy that works time and again. This. Only one forum person is on my ignore list. It's helped make the forum a lot easier to read, no question.

I know that Rhonda removed some of her post contents but she didn't remove the posts - which would have been pointless because they'd already been quoted.

Sorry, Lil, but you are wrong as I haven't deleted any posts in a while. Rhonda edited a few posts because the expletives were absolutely disgusting and would have got her a ban immediately if she had left them up. I only saw the posts of hers that others quoted around that time, and those were bad enough. Pep (I don't need to give a biased view; the truth about Rhonda is appalling enough.)

i'm going to agree with Phil's OP regarding ARing posts. if everyone AR's the same posts from the same poster every time they see one, the overflowing mailbag will surely urge the moderator to go to a higher power for resolution... especially when the stalking/harassing/inciting reaction/trolling trend is revealed by so many, so often. i would even suspect an IP ban if the campaign to stop the trolling via ARing was strong enough.
it's easy to click the little button, type in "Stalking, harasssing, inciting reaction and trolling, and include the victim's name". easy peasy. in fact, i urge you to go back trough the last 2000 posts and do just that to each and every one that has a response meant only to incite rage and hurt feelings, and a reaction.

Oh, I do wish you'd all just stop. All of you. Please! Are we still going to be hashing this over a month from now? What on earth is being gained by this? Ignore, or don't ignore, and get on with it. Please.

Ignore, or don't ignore, and get on with it. Please. We're discussing the merits, or lack of merits, of ignoring and not ignoring. Sometimes, ignoring is very useful method but there are times when it's bad for the forum as a whole. That's what we're discussing, along with alternatives. Pep keeps trying to side-track us but that's not our fault.
