Agreed. Which is actually one of the reasons I am not more sexually active in SL than I am. Or have been. Or am likely to be. Agreed too. Which is why I don't do it. The emotions involved. It's something I *SO* don't want, in SL, and I know I would go there. Immediately and a lot. So I don't even put myself in the situation. I have seen people in SL hurting just as badly from a SL breakup as they would in RL. I have too much at stake in RL, and an emotional involvement in SL wouldn't be a game to me. It's safer my way, if you are that kind of person. I kind of admire Jig, actually, that she can do what she does in SL and then move along with no emotional baggage. She's a free spirit, part of her charm. I'm too old with too much baggage to be able to be like that. _____________________
To LL: Sometimes I wondered, I didn't understand; just where you were trying to go, only you knew the plan. I tried to be there but you wouldn't let me in........

The emotions are the nicest part, with the right person. I'm sure that's true but the other side is.....too ugly and painful, even looking at someone else going through it. The possibility of that other side is enough to keep me away......I don't want to go through that. _____________________

Though in SL it is a mine field. People try to rush things at the speed of light and things that should never be end up crashing in 2-12 weeks in a huge drama fest. _____________________

People try to rush things at the speed of light and things that should never be end up crashing in 2-12 weeks in a huge drama fest. I think it's that drama fest that bothers me. Because there ARE emotions within the drama fest and that kind of thing can go on and on, how do you ever move on when past drama keeps being 'not so past' after all and rearing up to bite? That has to hurt, getting bitten again every time you think you are done with it. That's why I think either Jig's way (sex em up and walk away) or my way (don't do either) is safer. (I do realize that kind of safety is not what everyone is looking for, though.) _____________________

I'd almost side with Talarus on this stuff. Parking your av on a poseball and letting someone use it as a blowup doll while you go make scrambled eggs isn't "sex". People actually do this? Do they get paid? In very few areas do they get paid but I know a few places there there are bots on the pose balls legs in the air and guys hop on think they are a stud and get off. I have seen it in other places where one sex will hope on a ball and someone will get on the other ball they go at it for a while then one gets up moves toa new ball new person. Not my idea of fun but i would thing in this context they had sex _____________________

Looking at the results was an interesting surprise..there are more choosy people in RA than I expected
There's a huuuge difference in behaviour and mindset between 0 and 0-10, and a huge difference between 1 and 1-10. I'd like to see those broken down. I fell in there somewhere, like most, but that could mean anything. _____________________

First time I've ever found myself in complete disagreement with you, Guv. It *IS* real, emotionally, viscerally real...even if you can't really touch your partner. Think of it this way...do you recall Phoenixia's post yesterday, about how SL enabled her to recover the joy of dancing after it became impossible for her in RL? To her, dancing in SL is real. Not the *same* as dancing in the physical world, but it gives her the same feeling, and the same pleasure. Or, stretching a little here...you deal honorably with your business associates in SL, right? Make commitments, honor them, expect them to do the same? Why would you bother yourself with that, if they are "just a piccy on a screen"? Granted, procreation via the Internet is not (yet) a reality. But Des, if we throw out the relationship aspect of it, the emotion...and just leave the pixels humping each other on the screen (like those poseball campers), then I would say you have nothing left. As, perhaps, you would too. But Jig asked, "How many people have you slept with in SL?" "Slept with", to me, and I think to most people, implies more than just the mechanics of procreation. I do not consider that I have "slept with" a man who rapes me, for example. I am not "cofusing" sex and relationships. They are, by nature, inextricably entwined. _____________________

I wonder if watching other avatars have sex on SL is the exact same thing as having sex with your own avatar in SL. For example, you and your partner could both be spying on a couple a sim away but cybering each other as if you were both the couple you are watching. Does it have to be your particular avatar being animated? I mean the avatar's are just the visual aspect right?
On subject, I don't even remember how many times. Not that it's been many. |
