Shoppers in SL must be getting more rude, or at the very least indifferent, to the greeters. I have been at my store on occasion when people pop in, and I say hi and very very seldom do I get a response I would say maybe they think that greeters are bots so do not respond, however when the person saying hi is the designer/owner, and they do not reply, it definitely makes one wonder (most of the time I know they speak English, because they are typing in English to someone else, after the someone else pops in, neither ever say hi or anything) not everyone is like that, but a lot just ignore _____________________

Oh! The horror! You're a good mom tho Maureen. If I had kids, I would have to pawn them out for something like that. Under no circumstances would I ever be able to sit through something like that. EVER. OMG, You CANNOT believe how loud the decibel level was in that arena. As I mentioned, I used to usher at rock concerts, so believe me, I have heard some frighteningly-high-decibel-level music, but dang, I have NEVER heard such a racket. And, it was the women in the audience who were making all the racket!!! The poor tech guys just kept increasing the volume on the speakers in order for the band's voices to be heard. I swear my ears were ringing for days. (I'd forgotten my earplugs...) Having said all that? The boy band did give a great performance to the crowd. |

Shoppers in SL must be getting more rude, or at the very least indifferent, to the greeters. Now, I don't like a store greeter that wants to hover or constantly talk about what they have to sell me, but I do not mind someone saying Hello and welcoming me to their store. Whenever someone does that, I always say Hi back and thank them for their welcome. In the past 24 hours, I have had 5 greeters tell me that my response was very nice and very unusual and then they gave me a free gift - not the same items sitting on the store floor free to all that came there. Basic kindness and respect does have its rewards. ![]() /me makes note to ask Lil which stores these were... ![]() |

I tend to just wander about without focusing at all, so i always appreciate it when a store has a greeter. In fact, I've bought things at stores that I might not otherwise have bought because there was a greeter there, or in some cases, the store owner. It's nice to chat a bit about what they are selling and to get any questions answered right there. Makes me want to shop at their stores. |

But, I've had some very helpful sales help, from the models in the stores and owners themselves. It's downright refreshing to be treated nicely and I've had some lovely conversations with some of the proprietors. Haven't had your luck yet, no gifts that I remember being given out for no reason but the warm welcome and help is all I care about and what makes me come back and keep shopping at those venues. Two come right to mind, Baby Monkey and Leezu Baxter. Nice staff and owners. _____________________

I always say hello when greeted in stores, it seems only natural. Before I knew better I even responded to Greeter Bots. _____________________

"CX" When I was a kid, I would spend part of my summer visiting my Brother at whatever Air Force Base he was stationed at. One year he took me the Indiana State Fair, and Red Skelton was there. I've seen hundreds of comediams live over the years, but to this day, that was one of the funniest shows I've ever seen. And Totally G rated. _____________________

Really? A fine, fine Neil Diamond song (there goes my indie cred) You lost it when you admitted to Karaoking. But it is a great song reminiscent of the old Saloon songs Sinatra used to sing. And it reminded me to add Neil Diamond to my have seen list. I took my Dad to see him at The Meadowlands for his birthday one year. *Dad's Birthday, not Neils.* _____________________

You lost it when you admitted to Karaoking. But it is a great song reminiscent of the old Saloon songs Sinatra used to sing. And it reminded me to add Neil Diamond to my have seen list. I took my Dad to see him at The Meadowlands for his birthday one year. *Dad's Birthday, not Neils.* I was with clients and unable to refuse. I was drunk. I had taken leave of my senses. There was a law passed making it obligatory to perform karaoke at a time of the local authority's choosing. It was done at gunpoint. I had inexplicably traded places with Neil Diamond himself, and was busy doing a gig in front of 60,000 adoring fans while Neil was in a tacky karaoke bar in Soho, London. It wasn't me. Feel free to select one of those excuses and run with it. _____________________
