I offered "support"???? With a throw-away seven word comment?

OMG Pep . . .

I have tried VERY hard not to get involved in the ongoing feuds in this thread. Yes, I can see how you might interpret what was a frankly careless and thoughtless comment as an "attack" on you. And if you ever read your FRIGGIN' PMs, you'd see that I apologized for that thoughtlessness. But to interpret THAT as a sign of some sort deliberate alignment or programme against you is just silly.

I am, and intend to remain, neutral. I frankly LIKE most of those involved, including Rhonda, Love, 3Ring, Eli, and, yes, EVEN you. I am NOT going to allow myself to be dragged in to a fight that I find pointless and distressing.

So, go ahead and continue to consider me your "enemy" if you wish. I am not. Not of you, nor of any of the others here. Life is too short, and there is too much to be missed, by engaging in playground battles.
If you read your own PMs you would know that my forum mailbox is full (and deliberately kept so) so I have received no such communication from you, and in any case a public act requires an equally public retraction.

Pep (Perhaps if you are going to be thoughtless you should refrain from posting while in an over-emotional over-reacting state.)

I'll grant you this: you've added "over-reacting" to your shtick. See, you can evolve!

For clarity, I am disinterested in your view of the situation.

Pep (My perception is all that is relevant.)

But surely you can see, that same thing applies to me? That I am disinterested in 'your' view of the situation? lol And to me, only my opinion counts. You cannot 'make' me view you as an enemy, no matter how you view me. Again, although I may be your enemy, you are not mine. If I am your enemy, that is your choice. Neither of us makes those designations for the other, only for ourselves.

No, in point of fact, you HAVE received notice of a PM from me, and were told that you could not open it because your box was full. So you know full well that I sent you something. What did you think it was about, a solicitation of your opinion on my hair colour?

You REALLY want to do this publicly? You are the ONLY one here who interpreted that posting in the way that you did.

So here is the text of what I wrote in the PM. Enjoy.

From: Scylla Rhiadra
Ok, given your ridiculous policy regarding PMs, this probably isn't going to get through to you, but I'll try anyway.

First off, an apology. It was careless and thoughtless of me to simply chime in on the trolling thing. I've tried very hard not to take "sides" on this whole feud thing . . . I was upset, and I let myself get sucked in.

So, I'm sorry about that.

Secondly, however, I do wish you'd ask yourself WHY you are so adept at infuriating people. Is it really productive to goad people to the point where they DO say things they later regret? Is it worth it just so that you can point triumphantly to how "emotional" they've become, when all along it has been you who have provoked that state?

Anyway, that's all I have to say.

We are obviously in violent agreement.

Pep (So why are you posting? To reinforce the accuracy of my perception? It isn't necessary.)

Scylla had already stated her apology for her post by this post of your. So stop being a twatwaffle and accept it gracefully.

We see what you are really made of.

For all I knew you might have been wishing cancer upon me, or filling up a message with fifty repetitions of the word "troll".

Yes, I'm sure I have a reputation for sending PMs that are full of mindless vituperation.

Bored and pensive under the tree at what used to be AM Radio's Beneath the Tree that Died.

This shot was actually taken by a passerby, while I was unawares. I think he produced a much better composition than I could have managed.
A beautiful shot - very nice of the passerby to take it and give it to you.

I accept your apology. As far as I know I am the only person in this thread who has accepted any apologies. I know for certain that several of my own apologies have been thrown back in my face.

I am adept at infuriating people because I am adept at most things I do, because I may not always take the content seriously, but I *do* take the mechanisms of expression seriously. If something is worth doing it is worth doing well. Most of the posters here do not engage their brains before posting, many not bothering actually to read the original posts that they respond to, or if they do they do not demonstrate they have understood what has been written. As an example, you suggested I called the charity event "unfair" when I did no such thing, describing the charity itself in that manner. If I am going to have to fight that sort of ignorance then I will use my abilities to expose it, in the hope that some participants might become less lackadaisical and offer the opportunity for stimulating dialogue, as opposed to political correctness, motherhood and apple pie, all fairly badly expressed.

Pep (You asked, I answered.)

Thanks! Yes, it was nice of him! . . . although at first I was mildly ... um, perturbed? ... that he'd been taking pics of me without my knowledge. But I suppose that happens all the time.

He did another one too. It's a nice shot, but not as interesting, I think.

Pep (You asked, I answered.)

I did, and you did.

It's a given that there are different modes of responding effectively to what people say, and they produce different effects. What I am suggesting is that your choice of mode too often seems designed to elicit an emotional reaction, rather than a logical one. Producing an emotional response is one way of "winning," in that it often makes the other person look foolish or, yes, over-emotional, but it isn't really very constructive in terms of exploring or examining the question at hand.

Me too.

They both look lonely but the second one has a hopeful feel. The car and the road seem to show that this is more of a choice. A welcome time of solitude.

Wow - it sure doesn't take much time to catch up when I'm simply scrolling past folks bickering. Of course, those posts do help get us close to the 100,000 mark.

I guess it's a nicer shot of my avi. But it's not as evocative of the "feeling" of the installation, I think.

You finally accepted her apology, but you didn't manage to do it gracefully. Better than nothing I suppose.

for the record, i'm not involved in any feud. Pep doesn't like me because i can see right through him and call him on it occasionally. he's a woman hater and a hateful, unhappy little man. that sort of douchebaggery has no place in my daily rituals. other than that, i find him hilarious, in a "i'm pointing and laughing at you, you wacky cartoon character" kind of way. that is all.
