We are obviously in violent agreement.

Pep (So why are you posting? To reinforce the accuracy of my perception? It isn't necessary.)

Because I am compelled and over-emotional.

for the record, i'm not involved in any feud. Pep doesn't like me because i can see right through him and call him on it occasionally. he's a woman hater and a hateful, unhappy little man. that sort of douchebaggery has no place in my daily rituals. other than that, i find him hilarious, in a "i'm pointing and laughing at you, you wacky cartoon character" kind of way. that is all.

Wow, 3Ring. I'd hate to read what you'd have to say about him if you WERE involved in a feud with him . . .

Nah, the car wants to kill her. Like in that Stephen King book.

It's a given that there are different modes of responding effectively to what people say, and they produce different effects. What I am suggesting is that your choice of mode too often seems designed to elicit an emotional reaction, rather than a logical one. Producing an emotional response is one way of "winning," in that it often makes the other person look foolish or, yes, over-emotional, but it isn't really very constructive in terms of exploring or examining the question at hand.
My approach does not "elicit" an emotional reaction. It is intended (and is very successful at doing so) to expose the underlying emotional basis of an incorrect or inadequately expressed argument.

Pep (I am not interested in "examining the question at hand" if it necessitates continually pointing out the inability of others to read what has already been written or to express themselves coherently.)

Allow me to translate this.

Pep, surely a long time ago (when he was still capable of original thought and invention), found a novel and unique way to troll communities. He's since, through constant over use, refined his self gratifying behaviour into what you see today. Like any good troll, he's even got a cover story. As thin and unbelievable as it is.

You finally accepted her apology, but you didn't manage to do it gracefully. Better than nothing I suppose.
I accepted it in as graceful a manner it was given.

Pep (At least Scylla hasn't made any promises which she might break, as you did.)

You have trouble seeing through windows, dearie.

Of course it is!

Love, why do you bother? Your credibility is on a par with Rhonda's.

Another shining example of your dynamic thought process: "no you!"

Damn, Peewee, get control of yourself already. You go flying in wild spirals at the least little thing. It is unbecoming.

This, coming from the person who wished cancer on someone in retaliation for having her linebacker's thighs pointed out . . .

Pep (I find you despicable and contemptible.)

I am just under-occupied at work this afternoon, actually.

Pep (But it'll soon be time for a couple of beers, some football on TV and the new series of [spooks] to relieve the semi-boredom.)

Hey Mari, you said something coherent.

Pep (Isn't it time you posted your "how to ignore" shortcut again?)

And I have too much work to do, so I'll wish you a good evening with your beer and sports. :)

Did we figure out which woman from Pep's past beat the snot out of him and made him all sensitive to the issue of battered men?

Yuck. Don't need any of this today.

Except the beer... I'll take that.

Checking in here. RL has intruded in the form of a non-cancerous but baseball sized tumor that my hubby had partially removed on the 22 @ Scripps in La Jolla. I have been sans access to anything but my blog and gmail. Hope everyone is well and just remember life is fleeting and caring means everything. <333
My best wishes to you and your family, Argus. <333
