From: Weston Graves Is that for real? It seems credible enough.
Wikipedia does not mention it, but I know I can't trust Wikipedia. Under American football it says, "A standard football game consists of four 15-minute quarters (12-minute quarters in high-school football and often shorter at lower levels), with a 12 minute half-time intermission after the second quarter." Now that's clearly not true. I happen to know a football game lasts for-freaking-ever!
I know this because when I was a little kid Star Trek was preempted on Monday nights for football. Now you see the real reason I have no use for it. I've managed to learn to love them both. The Ball measurement is ONE explanation. Others also point to the fact that there was more kicking in early football games...the drop kick was common and was the primary method of scoring. It is also thought that the name came from a time when both Soccer (football) and Rugby were both played here. To differentiate, Rugby was described as "Rugby Football" and evolved into "American Football" and then simply "Football" as "Soccer" became the accepted term for that other game. Take your pick.

Meant to post this lasts week. Went to see Amara in her new store building for Talon Faire. When I arrived, I discovered a) Amara was AFK b) She had build enabled. I called Brenda over to watch.... (bigger version at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/maureenboccaccio/4052075279/sizes/l/) Amara is covered by the very large ice cream cone.

They lied - I already have 6 inches of snow out there and it is still coming down. And hubby is on a business trip so I have to go shovel the back deck and get the snowblower out for the driveway and sidewalks.

Rooting for the Raiders at that game, in San Diego is not a safe thing to do, but I wouldn't be true to myself if I did not.) Will probably get my ass kicked.

Hilarious; Amara's new space is SO nice! I spent time there over the weekend too, and sigh, dropped some Lindens.

From: 3Ring Binder what's all this talk of football, and no rooting for your team? Go Raiders! My team just kicked the prims out of your team. J..E...T...S! But we lost our best running back in the process. Besides, I have my World Series from Hell to deal with.......The New York Yankeess vas The Philadelphia Phillies. The 2 most hated teams right now for a Mets fan.

From: Treasure Ballinger ***WOOT!!!*** GO RAIDERS!!! I don't want to worry you much (nor 3Ring) but the Raiders are my team as well. I used to visit LA when they played there. One of the guys on their roster even had exactly the same name as me. Pep (I got some funny looks when I wore a Raiders jacket with his/my name on it in; I was the same size and shape as him, but not the same colour. ) PS It's good to hear they still have the same philosophy; don't worry about winning or losing, just make sure you leave someone else's blood on the pitch

From: Brenda Connolly I forgot to ask when I was there, who brought the porto potty? I did. I figured it might come in handy, as Amara was still setting up shop. I didn't know if the ladies' room was functional yet. Or if she's one of those shopkeepers who keeps the key to the john on some big gihugic chain attached to a cup or something.
