Willam Blake "The Garden of Love." Then I got bored and watched a movie. So I guess I'm only pretend artsy.

Yeah, I think you are probably the first one EVER to find yourself not in a "poetic" mood after all, and put the book down. :)

I'm not big on Blake. Too mystical and "ooooh, I'm an ARTIST!!!" for me.

When I am in a mood for poetry, and know I don't have the patience for anything too involved, this one, by Louis Macneice, that I often turn to:

Wolves

I do not want to be reflective any more
Envying and despising unreflective things
Finding pathos in dogs and undeveloped handwriting
And young girls doing their hair and all the castles of sand
Flushed by the children's bedtime, level with the shore.

The tide comes in and goes out again, I do not want
To be always stressing either its flux or its permanence,
I do not want to be a tragic or philosophic chorus
But to keep my eye only on the nearer future
And after that let the sea flow over us.

Come then all of you, come closer, form a circle,
Join hands and make believe that joined
Hands will keep away the wolves of water
Who howl along our coast. And be it assumed
That no one hears them among the talk and laughter.

It's a particular good one when I am feeling a little down; I love the affirmation of the last stanza especially. :)

Family. I have no choice. Have to stay in the will.
You get to be part of a will? Can I join your family?

{A very happy and healthy kitty scampers through the thread.}

A big thank you and hugs to everyone for your thoughts, prayers and voodoo hoodoo. My biopsy came back as non-pre-cancerous and the half centimeter spot that they wanted to biopsy today is completely gone!

{Skitters across the floor, her nails clicking on the tile, and disappears.}

That's great to hear Clover! It must be a huge relief.

As an aside, the cruelty of one of Pep's posts yesterday suddenly clicked into place. Ah well.

Though it seems a few are not out yet.

@Clover - Awesome news. I've gone thru 2 cancer scares and the wait for the news is so nerve-racking, but finally getting it is the greatest feeling.

... I'm sure we all have little things that we do in SL that we'd like to do in rl but can't, for whatever reason.
It is funny about hair and other aspects of how we look/think we'd like to look. Sl is great for letting us try things out. (Your rl hair? AWESOME.)

I've always been poetry impaired. It often just seems like too much trouble to even read it. But I like this one a lot. I like what it's saying to me and how it's saying it.

I'm so glad you like it!! :)

I love almost all poetry, but my preference is always for verse that builds on the language and rhythms -- and the themes -- of everyday speech. And I love Macneice: he was a "minor" poet, a friend of Auden, Spender, and that crowd, but wonderfully understated, compassionate, and humane.

He wrote another absolutely beautiful short poem called "Snow" which maybe I'll post one day . . .

@Clover: Let me join my voice to those who are congratulating you! It must have been an unpleasant scare, but I hope you are being compensated in some small way now by the relief and joy you feel in knowing that you are healthy!

Hi Threadpeople;
I'm back from lunch with the beautiful Kaimi! (and, she is, inside and out). We had a great time talking and had to get 'to go' boxes to take our lunch home because we were so busy talking we couldn't catch a breath to eat, lol. I'm so glad I met Kaimi in real, we both felt like we'd been friends a long, long time, she is very easy to talk to, we didn't have one single long uncomfortable silence, was just like we've been friends forever, both gabbing away.. We plan to get together again soon and Maureen, looking forward to you joining us, in December when you visit!

oh, what a wonderful report. i knew it would be easy like that. i just knew. :)

Awww thanks Kaimi. :) You know, it's funny about the hair thing. Those styles I wear so much of in SL, like the one on this avatar pic, are smooth and tidy. My rl hair as you saw is wild and unmanageable and ethnic, and well, 'a lot'. lol. I'd love to have that smooth, pretty, every hair in place look that Treasure has, and so, in SL, I can. It's a small thing that I can have in SL, that in rl would be just too much work to achieve. I'm sure we all have little things that we do in SL that we'd like to do in rl but can't, for whatever reason.

sliders. they are a beautiful thing. i wantz them. :D

not sure...but...i can do whatever the heck i want now, so it's certainly something i intend to pursue. i have another iron in the fire that takes priority, so i'll have to navigate around that. i have 2 weeks off for winter break, and maybe i can arrange it then. depends on pending results.... :cool: :D

I think you'll find that it was Clover's master that was wishing horrible deaths by cancer on others, not me.

Pep (wouldn't ever say such a horrendous things.)

I don't recall Clover ever saying a bad thing to you. So perhaps you should aim *your* weapon a bit better. :rolleyes:

You'd better retune those over-emotional brain cells of yours, Love, and note that I now use "clover" as a replacement for a four letter word beginning with "f", as I do not wish to subject forum readers to the same sort of uncivilised assault as Rhonda did.

Pep (Sarcasm is obviously lost on you, even when unsubtle; but then, you seem to lose any remaining intellect as soon as you see a post signed by me.)

Ah, I took it as a direct reference to her cancer scare. In fact, I still suspect you meant to hint at that. Because that's the sort of person I think you are.

Whatever. Goodnight.

It's all in your sick mind. I began using clover as a euphemism before she mentioned her drama here.

Pep (I could probably post The Lord's Prayer and you'd read something sinister into it. :rolleyes: )

PS You're obviously "tired and emotional". Perhaps you should leave looking "euphemism" up in the dictionary until the morning.
