We all want simple answers to complex problems. In an increasingly difficult and confusing world, it becomes so much easier to to search for scapegoats and blame all the ills of our society on this problem or that. We're amply assisted in our quest for easy answers by a media-fueled storm of sound bites, urban legends, and proselytising columnists, a la Rush and Arianna.

I think the last time the McDonald's coffee lawsuit was mentioned, it was Lil who brought our attention to the actual facts of the case... I could be wrong, and I'm too lazy to look it up. Here's a link which lays out the actual circumstances, and draws a very different conclusion than the easy condemnation of the silly coffee-drinker.

http://www.caoc.com/CA/index.cfm?event=showPage&pg=facts

That's not to say there aren't frivolous lawsuits, of course there are. This just didn't happen to be one of them, IMO.

I have to work so hard myself, not to fall into this place of throwing up my hands and blaming. It takes concentrated effort to focus on my own actions, my own vote, my own thoughtful analysis of issues. And realize, I'm just one person, and all I really own are my own actions. I can't fix the world, I can only live the best life i can.

I really don't know what my point is here, lol. Where is Kaimi this morning? She always says what's on my mind in such a calm and thoughtful manner!

Montana is pretty much wide open. They've even done away with speed limits in a lot of places.

*coughs...

Oh yes. Carrying any gun across State Lines is a serious No No. A Federal Offense.

Nope. You can travel from one end of the country to the other with a firearm in your car as long as you obey state laws. Some will allow you to keep a loaded firearm in your glovebox or in plain view, others require it to be unloaded and in a locked container.

Not true, several states will honor Out of State carry permits. The best thing to do is research the laws before you travel. Making sure to stay out of IL and Mass.
I did not know that. I did know that you can "drive through" some states with your gun in your car, sometimes needing no permit at all.

I'd say scant few, No?

Most of the ones who have "shall issue" do. They don't give it to every state, it can get complicated. The best thing to do is call the state police in the state you want to visit. They will usually know.

wtf
We had a lot of loonies in town then. I work for the police dept. and was listening to the scanner a lot in the evening and talking to the cops during the day. I knew exactly what kind of trouble might be here and what kind actually did happen.

For those who are interested, you can find out where your permit is allowed and what requirements there are for travel here:

I told you Little Scratch wouldn't hit the jackpot.

*Waves to Raymond in case he is still looking.
/me waves back. I'll still look from time to time, but blip.fm is where I hang out these days. Being a DJ on a streaming music site seems to suit me better than ranting about unreal estate.

Hugs and thanks to all who gave me a welcoming or kind word. All the best, always. :)
