From: Ashe1 Writer Elora, If I don't get the chance to say it before you leave...hope the two of you have lots of fun. Protect yourselves again hijacking and the flu. Take lots of pix Well we won't be anywhere near Somalia and the whole thing about the flu is being blown out of proportion right now for the general public (it's a pandemic, not epidemic - there's a difference) so, yep we'll have a good time Just will use a lot of Purell lol. Pix will be forthcoming on Flickr as we upload them. We found out that the internet access on the boat is a freaking fortune. Well, I knew this already since I've cruised before, but Ghosty was horrified. He had hoped to blog his way through the trip. This will not be happening, he'll have to wait until the end of the day, type it up on the laptop and then upload everything in one fell swoop. Even text messages became .50 cents each once we left the US (we have unlimited when in the continental US) so we have to turn off all notifications and just not use it unless absolutely necessary (again, he's aghast!).

From: Elora Lunasea I'll take the Japanese breakfast please, with some green tea today instead of the coffee That miso soup is looking particularly appealing. Well, 2 more days, and we're out of here! We're even taking a little guest with us - a traveling gnome lol. His name is Cedric (seriously, I kid you not) and he shall be our companion for the entire trip. His luggage is packed, and ready to go (picture came off my cell phone, so it's rather grainy - my digital camera is having "issues" and I think I may have to run out and purchase a new one before we leave ). Have a wonderful time Elora! (and Ghosty too!) Don't do anything *I* wouldn't do. And be ready for lots of questions and demands for stories when you get back.

From: Jerboa Haystack Good morning everyone. Since, apparently posts here are of little consequence, perhaps a some truth? Did you know.... The swine influenza A (H1N1) virus is susceptible to the prescription antiviral drugs oseltamivir and zanamivir. Yep, knock those suckers out! And love your Curie quote too BTW - we had a saying in college "Don't do anything I wouldn't do, and if you do, name it after me" Hehehe. But we're too old for THAT now anyway (not for the "doing it" part but for the consequences thereof, I hope )

Good morning Threadies, Rain this morning I went to see The Color Purple play last night. It was great. I have never seen the movie nor read the book. Everytime I tell someone black I haven't, they tell me I need to give up my negro and NAACP card. @Treasure, No I haven't seen the movie, it would've made me too mad and have evil thoughts of doing something at my then husband at the time. Shoot I was getting mad just watching the very diluted version from the play. I was mad at anything with 3 legs. Made me want to wear my "I HATE MEN" t-shirt. LOL. Anyway, getting geared up for the kick off for the corporate challenge tomorrow. Does anyone else parictipate in their job's corporate challenge and what events? Did I miss breakfast already? What did we have?

@ Sable - I've been wanting to see the play for ages. Read the book when it first came out (what was it? Like the lates 70's/early 80's if I remember correctly), and of course saw the movie. One of the best books I ever read, and eye opening for me in many ways since I'd never read such an honest account of that particular lifestyle - I remember that it exposed me to a lot of new vocabulary too, which I loved. "Clabber" for instance, just something I'd never heard of before as a Jewish girl from Brooklyn Also, no matter what your background, if you certainly can relate to those people on one level or another if you have ever experienced any kind of emotional/physical abuse from a man or seen it in your family structure. It was a strong book in that regard, really pulled at you emotionally. You rooted for those woman through every page, felt their every struggle. In the movie version, I think it felt even more strongly seeing it put to film. Heartbreaking, and empowering together.

From: sable Valentine Did I miss breakfast already? What did we have? Mo fed us some oriental lunch for breakfast this morning. But she was nice enough to follow it up with real breakfast. I'll come back for the Japanese stuff at lunch time.

What did we have? Sable, I saw Color Purple (the play) last year, in NY. Yes, agree it was great. I saw it with Fantasia. I saw the movie and read the book, but plays are just a whole different kind of ambience of course. Glad you enjoyed it.

It would've taken me too much of an emotional ride in such a short period of time and that would've been very exhausting. If you get a chance please see the play. The sets were gorgeous. Latoya Love from American Idol plays Nettie. The acting and singing outstanding. I think I will muster some courage and read the book very soon. Being an avid reader I know I would love it. I just have to prepare myself for reliving my own version of The Color Purple.

Yes, it's crazy, the internet access prices onboard cruise ships. However, having cruised before, you know you can watch for the half price specials. If you don't tour at every port, but stay onboard ship, they often have specials then, too. I once gave up a tour, in Jamaica, cause I wanted to stay behind to go online, lol. Addiction.......sigh. Have a wonderful time and a super happy birthday, Elora!

Have a wonderful time and a super happy birthday, Elora! I forgot about that! Last time I cruised, I did spend one day on the boat when it was in port because it was docking at their "private island" which basically meant the whole boat (kids included) were packed off to this small secluded island for the day. No big deal to me and the ex. So, we stayed on the ship instead, which was blissfully quiet; had the pool pretty much to ourselves for the first time on the trip too. We weren't looking for internet cheapies then, as at that time we only needed to check email occassionally but now it's a whole other story since Ghosty is such an avid blogger. Don't know if we'd give up a day of touring necessarily since he's never cruised before, however, *if* we got back early enough from what we were doing, (or leave late enough) we'll make a point to check out the rates while in port. I'm glad you mentioned it! Thanks! And...for the birthday wishes too

In retrospect I have decided I was Japanese in some prior life or will be when reborn - The breakfast looks awesome! I love that SL let's me indulge my love for things Asian. And am perstering Eku constantly for new words to add to my growing Japanese Notecards. Poor girl, doesn't know I am eating her brain! Haha- (Don''t think she comes in here, but just in case, /me waves ) Last night I totally destroyed Talon Faire- raized it down to prim rock - it looked horrible - like a large closet one dumps things in and then closes the door. Will need to rebuild and pronto as the Home Show is coming up. Need it to be a true Main store with representations of the decor, jewelry and fashions. The place at Lost Heaven is sort of lost itself right now 'cause the owner is rebuilding stuff so peeps that take the LM end up on a beach not my store I am thinking I need help to to get a descent store building up- was looking at prefabs in XStreet but nothing has really caught my fancy yet.

On our cruise we stopped at Couzmel in between hurricane Emily and hurricane whatever. Anywho, at the bar an annoucement on the loud speaker was done and the speaker said, "The dance poles are for the ladies, guys get off" I almost spit out whatever I was drinking when I heard that and died of laughter. I just love cruising. Will has never been on one and we have discussed going. Perhaps after our trip in June we may go. He wants to go to Aruba next. Hey, which is really cool with me.

From: Amaranthim Talon In retrospect I have decided I was Japanese in some prior life or will be when reborn - The breakfast looks awesome! I've had that same feeling. It's one of those cultures that has called out to me since I was very young. I'm very fascinated by the artwork, food, culture in general. My father and I used to do paintings inspired by Japanese art, I have a few of his, one or two of mine still around. Why I haven't explored it in SL is a mystery now that I think of it. Ghosty also is fascinated by it and we've discussed a trip there although that's going to take big bucks and time to accomplish since you can't do it in a week. Probably will have to wait until we retire for that one

We got 'forced' into Cozumel, stuck behind hurricane Rita. Cozumel wasn't on our scheduled stops. We were on our way back to Galveston (after western Carribean cruise) and Galveston was closed, due to the hurricane so we got an extra day at sea, at Cozumel. Too funny about the dance poles, did you think about SL?
