I always took QFT to mean "Quoted For Truth"

As far as the other meanings: For shame! Potty-mouths! :(

@Elora: Notice I did *not* give a list of things that I wouldn't do. :D

Good morning, Threadies!

Hi, Lil! Thank you for the beautiful new signature line about love and time.

Hi, Love! My forum title is accurate now, I haven't got a square meter to my name.

Isn't it the most beautiful day ever?

/me laughs for no apparent reason and dances out again, eyes sparkling.

*stretches and yawns*

Good morning threadies! Guess what I saw today when I woke up? The SUN!!! I'm in AZ visiting family/friends, and woke up to mourning doves cooing outside my window, and a lovely clear sunny day. No mind that it's going to hit around 90F. I'm going to soak it up like a lizard on a rock. Warmth! Sun! No rain! Hooray!

Huh? What happened to Lebantu(sp?)?

Lebettu. Here's the whole sordid history.

October 2007. A couple of friends are looking for some land to buy and put rentals on. They show me a flat island parcel next to a laggy club. I say, let's look around for something better.

November 2007. I stumble across a big mainland parcel for sale, a half sim of land sloping down to the water. I have a vision...a Greek seaside village, rising from a waterfront to a ruined temple on the hill. I call my friends. We form a partnership and I buy the land.

January 2008. The Villas at Lebettu open for business. We start to attract tenants.

Feb 2008 through about July. Lebettu gradually fills up. We come close to breakeven. Then cheap Open Space sims suck renters away from the mainland in droves. We begin to lose money.

August 2008 through October. We decide Lebettu isn't going to make us all rich any time soon. My partners gradually lose interest and move on to other activities.

October 2008. I buy out my partners. I take down the pretty Greek Village and divide the parcel into a few larger plots. Open Spaces are changed to less attractive Homesteads, and renters return to the mainland. I attract a renter who wants a full 1/4 sim. This, plus three or four smaller parcel rentals, allows me to cover tier and still live there with a house of my own.

March 2009. LL announces upcoming changes to Adult content policy that will have profound effects on the mainland. I sell the 1/4 sim parcel to its tenant, and he agrees to buy the remainder in a month.

April 2009. I sell the remaining 1/4 sim to my former tenant.

Which brings us to today. What a ride! And, although this isn't what you'd call an SL success story, financially speaking, it's been a grand one. I got to create, and update, and maintain a major build. I've had some terrific business partners. I've met a great many friends and had adventures right outside my front door, and spent quiet moonlit nights contemplating the ocean.

I'm staying with some friends for now, but I won't be landless forever. I love having land of my own and prims to play with. But I will be renting, probably an estate parcel, at least long enough to see how things shake out on the mainland.

Ok, I'm off to look for a new digital camera. I don't think my current one is going to hold up unfortunately. Battery door won't close all the way, shutter has to be manually opened (that's a pain considering I tend to still use the viewfinder and never realize it's closed) and I can't find the USB which seems to be a really old style and will be hard to replace.

I really would like to get a digital SLR, but I want to do more research on that (very expensive) plus I still would want a slim point and shoot anyway for those times when carrying a larger camera is impractical. So, I'm going to look for something small and cheap for now.

See you all later!

You got to live your dream, Lindal. If only for a little while. I can remember those first days in Dec 07 when you were building on your plot. You were so excited. I am glad to hear you haven't given up on your love of building and land.

Reading your quick history, it must be bittersweet. Nonetheless, congratulations for getting out while you can! Any thoughts on your next theme? Something different?

It is a very nice day, though I will claim that tomorrow will be better, if only because it is Friday.

I so need me a new digital camera. I told Will about the one I was thinking about getting and first thing he said to me was are you a professional photographer. I just looked at him and said no.... He said what you need all that stuff for? I told him, well since you are the teckie one please find me one. I'm going to remind him tonight that is still on his "honey do" list.

ETA: I still want to see and hear your ideas- but I just picked up two pre-fabs on xstreet for under $100 L each that I do want to try out. One is a gorgeous little Japanese house that won't work as a store but $49 L how could I pass it up?
