It's going to be amost 90 here today!!

@Kaimi:Thanks for the story. I caught a little bit of it on the Local Cable News channel.

I need help from one of you Green Thumbs. What can I use on my lawn to take the sting out of Boomers' pee pee?

Try this stuff. It's fairly expensive ($27/month or thereabouts) but I've heard it works.

... Another option (if space allows) is to set aside a specific area out of view where Boomer is confined when nature calls - maybe the first place to visit when being let out to play.

B.
Or be extra careful about him always going in a different spot. If the lawn is otherwise very healthy, a small dead spot from the dog pee will actually revive again pretty quickly from the stuff around it.

Dog breed or dog sex may affect how they approach where they go. I have had some dogs that always went in one general area and others (primarily my huskies) that insisted on spreading it all over the entire backyard.

Take the dog for walks :)
Waking up slowly here. Are you IMPLYING that she should walk him around the neighborhood so he does his business on the neighbors lawns instead.

Or you could set aside a small corner (dogs like to pee in corners), and take out the grass altogether and fill it with wood chips and maybe a wooden post... train him to go there, and he'll run there first before other places. I had a sickly rhododendron that I let Rolf pee on, and he killed it, of course, but I keep it because that's where he ALWAYS goes.

I know MAYBE a half dozen types of flowers - all being the more commonly known ones - and pretty much nothing more than the fact that it is a 'rose' or 'tulip' or 'daffadil', etc... Flowers and gardening are NOT my thing at all. I don't even attempt house plants anymore as I just kill them. I have managed to keep the large rose garden outside alive even though I have lived in this house for 11 years now - definitely more than enough time for me to have killed any plant given into my care.

So, don't feel so bad - I am female and I'm SUPPOSED to know that crap. Guys are always forgiven for not knowing stuff like that.

I don't know anything about them either. I just like to go take the pics. Although yesterday I did manage to remember to take a shot of any of the signs that some have posted as to what they were. Sadly too many aren't marked, or there are to many different kinds in a grouping to sort out which is which.

We actually did something like this with one that did seem to always go in the same general area. The only difficulty in this is that the dog poop is harder to clean up. If you prefer to leave it, it takes longer to decompose into the ground. But, overall, it does a good job at protecting the majority of the laws - if you can manage to train/convince the dog to use the area. Some, by nature, really really want to leave their mark all around the yard.

Good lord, no. I glare sternly at my dog-owning neighbours every time they approach my front weed patch. Especially if I don't see them carrying their little poop bags.
I'm thinking dogs ought to pee at the street edge or something where the rain can wash things away. Guess it depends on the sort of neighborhood you live in and what's available. Shouldn't have dogs if the only way to look after them is to damage other people's property, I'm thinking.

Brenda, you could try overseeding your lawn with some white clover at the end of summer. Just make sure you get the right stuff for your area! You want the short, dark clover with small white flowers.

Here's a piece of my grass/clover mix.

Hmm, just thinkin' ...
If dog pee does such a fine job with killing grass, you'd think someone would bottle the stuff and sell it as a more environment friendly weed killer than Round Up or something.
Maybe I could borrow Boomer to pee on my dandelions.

That's simple (it's just like rounders except with less hair-pulling) compared with cricket, sorry.

Pep (A game can last five days, and even when it doesn't rain the whole time, you can still not get a result)

He pretty much has claimed the yard as his, so going in one spot isn't an option. Plus I do have a couple of his palymates over, so that isn't feasable anyway. I'm going to seed and feed this week, and my neighbor Vinnie has some spare lime I'm sure........I'll see what happens.

Just to be topical, another photo from my trip to the park with Elora yesterday. New Jersey playing who-knows-who. Didn't stay to watch, it was too hot.

I like this idea. Granted, the best use for it would be in areas where you don't even want grass growing -- flower beds, borders, sidewalk cracks, etc...

Now I just have to figure out how to actually get the pee.

And I knew you were not implying she should take Boomer to the neighbors' yards, but as I was waking up, that thought seemed to jump out at me cuz I know a neighbor that does just that - so I just had to comment.

Yeah, just as soccer has insidiously taken over our parklands, recently a new park was dediated to Yankee great Phil Rizzuto, with 2 soccer fields and no baseball field  , cricket games are becoming an annoyingly common sight. :p
