I'm reminded of a comment that went something like "the purest combination of beauty, grace, performance and function" known to man....
Which man?

Could be morning sickness. I've heard that Maureen's condition is contagious.

Don't even joke about stuff like that!!!!!

Remember the Carlin routine?

"Hi George, this is Ellen. Remember me? We met at a party, 6 to 8 weeks ago and you said I was a good sport."

"Oh yeah. Hi. What's up?"

"I'm pregnant, and I'm going to kill myself!"

"Gee, you ARE a good sport".

I got a spontaneous invitation to go yachting on a lovely Condordia Yawl yesterday evening, and I managed to snap a photo of one of our idols in action at the helm. I'm reminded of a comment that went something like "the purest combination of beauty, grace, performance and function" known to man....

Oh, and the boat looked nice, too :-)

(I'm gonna get hit for that, I fear, or fed to the sharks that were swimming around us).

Thanks for the boat ride, Lin...Jackie

Wonderful pic, Jackie!!!

/me has visions of Wimpey's labourers forming an orderly line outside Oryx's house!

Pep, your breadth of knowledge is amazing. :)

Of course, when I first read "Wimpey", I thought of Popeye's "J. Wellington Wimpy", and I could just imagine him getting others to go and work for him, since he was so lethargic...and usually without funds! "I'll gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today." :D

Sorry guys - I shouldn't assume that you might know that Wimpeys were the archetypal Irish-orientated construction firm in the UK.

Oh, it wasn't just us. My friend Que sailed with us, and Marianne brought her Tako, and Soji was whizzing by in his Fizz, and Bodhi brought some leaky plywood dhow or something. We were quite the little armada!

And I didn't even leave the boat embedded in the sea floor this time!

After a while, we left the small craft and crossed the Blake Sea to Nautilus, where we made landfall at a ruined temple or something. We turned to port and sailed south down the coast as the sun set (in the south...but this is SL after all).

Jackie had to leave, but Que and I continued around the southern tip of Nautilus and anchored just off a nice private residence, where we de-rezzed the boat and I sent Que off to a pajama party.

A very, very pleasant SL evening...and I was still giggling about Maureen's Nursery (she gave me a preview) when I logged off.

God, I love this place.

Since we're in a sailing mood

Press release from yesterday regarding the America's Cup debacle:

(Apr. 2, 2009) - The New York State Court of Appeals, in the case between Golden Gate Yacht Club (GGYC) and Societe Nautique De Geneve (SNG), regarding the validity of Club Nautico Espanol De Vela (CNEV) as the Challenger of Record, has found in favor of GGYC, reversing the Appellate Division and reinstating Justice Cahn's orders. In its unanimous opinion, the Court held,

"Since CNEV has failed to show that at the time it submitted its Notice of Challenge it was a '[c]lub fulfilling all the conditions required by' the Deed of Gift, it does not qualify as the Challenger of Record for the 33rd America's Cup competition and Supreme Court was correct in declaring GGYC to be the valid Challenger of Record. It has been posited that the right to act as trustee of the America's Cup should be decided on the water and not in a courtroom. We wholeheartedly agree. It falls now to SNG and GGYC to work together to maintain this noble sailing tradition as 'a perpetual Challenge Cup for friendly competition between foreign countries.'"

Hey, Pep - it just hasn't been the same since Sir Thomas Lipton abandoned the chase :-( J.
