From: HoneyBear Lilliehook I really think I'm about to delete all of my landmarks. I can either search, or go out to my blog where many of the slurls are. That would probably drop it down by at least 2000 items. I already habitually delete multiple copies of the same LM. I have thought about removing all except for some to my favorite dance spots. It seems that so many of the stores move so often that those LMs are not good for long anyway. /me makes a note to seriously think about this option -- and deleting all those notecards that I was sure I would want someday.

From: Claire Silverspar don't think I've had to clear cache in about 6 months or more, but then I have a good connection, and a good PC. I don't even know what clear cache does. I have cleared cache a few times in the last 6 months, but very few. Once to clear a video / texturing problem that I could not get cleared any other way and a couple of times to actually be able to get to a few inventory items that suddenly disappeared when SL was acting up. I avoid clearing cache cuz then it does take forever for my inventory to reload.

From: LittleMe Jewell I woke this morning to a weather report that said it would start snowing soon for the morning rush hour and we would get 1-2 inches before it turned sunny - this was at 4:45 am. I looked outside and it was dry. I got thru the shower and got dressed, went downstairs to get ready to leave and noticed it was snowing. Finished getting ready and backed out of the garage and discovered there was already 2 inches on the ground and it was coming down hard. At 5:30 in the morning, it took me 50 minutes to make a normal 25-30 min drive. Final accumulation was roughly 4-6 inches -- but the sun was out by 10:30 and everything on the more traveled roads was melted by 11:00. The forecast here is for single digit low temps by the end of the week. It looks like I might need a couple of more dogs on those nights............

Perhaps it is just the time of day I tend to be logged in then, certainly I am never on during the time peak concurrency is reached.

From: Dakota Tebaldi The cache, as far as I know, stores textures and information about a location you're in; so if you leave and then return, your computer already has the textures in memory and doesn't have to download them again from LL. Your cache size determines how much information is stored on your computer; and clearing the cache erases all the stored information, so that everything has to be downloaded again from LL. The cache makes things load quicker on your end, is all. Erasing and updating the cache now and then makes sure the right things load. It also actually stores a Table-of-contents of your inventory and that is why the inventory can take a long time to reload after clearing cache. Cache does sometimes get hosed or maybe too fragmented and then a clearing can help, but it is usually best to let it be.

it means you multiple them
if there is no equation sign, then multiple them
so it would be 231 X 3.6
edited to add oops, looks like someone beat me to it
(sorry bout that)

From: Brenda Connolly Doesn't anybody have "coffees" anymore? Latte this, latte that, sheesh. Latte frickin' da. Depends on where you're shopping. A sale at Simone would get me a coffee; putting together an outfit at Maitreya or Cubic Effect or Muism would require latte prices. And in RL I normally just drink coffee.

Five effing hours and no flower
01-12-2009 17:03
I got the object scanner that Ann recommended - it's pretty cool - has flight assist and radar built in, as well as keeping a teleport history, which is pretty much all I use Mystitool for.
However in the HOUR I just spent in that Inca Temple, I did not find the flower, and the scanner was not able to finish searching. I wasn't sure what the object was called anyway: talender, "Gorean Grid Wide" something?
So, no joke, I spent five hours in that store, actively looking.
Five effing hours, to be precise.
So I sent a nice note to the organizer and asked her to release the list of stores afterward.
My ankle is okay... mostly just swollen. I've got it elevated.
Oh well. It was fun while it lasted.

From: LittleMe Jewell Those are the only negatives -- well, and trying to find time to properly sort and file it all so that I can actually wear all those clothes I get. Exactly! I have far too many things I've forgotten I have.

It seems that so many of the stores move so often that those LMs are not good for long anyway. /me makes a note to seriously think about this option -- and deleting all those notecards that I was sure I would want someday. At one point I had started moving LMs into notecards by category: Dancing, Hangouts, Scenic Areas, Shopping (subdivided into Clothes, Shoes, Jewelry, etc). You can't search for a specific place that way, but they were alphabetized within the notecard. It's just one more thing I haven't kept up with, and I'm sure lots of those LMs are obsolete. Any more I just rely on SL Search for the most part.

Key - does that scanner let you enter partial search strings? I've been using the phrase "gorean grid wide hunt", though there was one store that abbreviated it and called the flower GGWH - I had to get Love to help me find that one and luckily they had not moved it yet. Even with the scanners, you still have to cover most of the area as the scripting limitations only allow it to see the 16 closest objects at any one time.

From: Claire Silverspar Don't how you keep track of them all Elora lol. I have Chandra, and Lollipop. Chandra is pretty quiet, but then I don't let her out much. Lolli, is a very cute kiddie avvie. I don't play her a lot, but when she's out she is sooo cheeky. I don't take them to the hangout a lot, mostly they're just out on my land. When they are at the hangout, I make sure its in my profile that they are my alts, and that people know who they are. /me decides to not get involved in the alt revealing part of this thread.
