From: Claire Silverspar only if its good pastry Even the worst pastry is still good. Two parts flour to one part fat is the key. For savoury short-crust pastry I prefer 150g of lard and 100g of grated cheese to 500g of flour, or 250g of butter for a sweet pastry like in an apple pie.

You could always take one of the frozen pieces and shave it thin for stir-fry or maybe stroganoff.
If your feeling real adventurous, try a bacon stroganoff stuffed baked potato. It sounds like it would be good to me but I have yet to try it and find out. lol

I'm going to use the remaining pastry and some minced beef and potatoes to make a Cornish pasty though. For those who don't know;

From: Conan Godwin It's usually done with a single individual portion of fillet. I've never seen it as an individual portion... these are pics of beef wellington as I've always experienced...

An individual portion to me might be about that size. It's still a long way from being a whole fillet though.

Those things are burnt!
How about a dry-aged prime rib roast and use the pastry to wrap a mild chese like Harvarti or Jarlsberg; server topped with a little fruit compote or jam.

I can see how crocodile dung could be an effective contraceptive on several levels...
- the people who went out to collect it mostly didn't come back to sire any more children.
- the lucky few who made it back alive were probably too tired and mauled about to think about having sex.
- once you had some, using it probably made you smell so bad nobody would DREAM of having sex with you.
- and we haven't even got to discussing its potential as a spermicide and/or a physical barrier yet.
Those Egyptians were pretty smart.

I've tried...really tried to resist today. But now I'm starving!! Wellington is tasty for sure, but I try to keep things simple. Just some strips, seasoned, sauteed, add some shallots and butter, finish up with a little cognac and cream for the sauce, and voila! Easy as..um..well not pie...um...steak!

Does anybody cook their food properly???!!!! What do you mean by "properly"? Bacteria cannot penetrate muscle tissue. Harmful bacteria exist in the intestinal tract and stomachs of food animals. If the slaughterman is clumsy and nicks the intestinal tract, some of the juices may splash onto the muscle tissue and thus bacteria may be present on the surface of the meat. I know my slaughterman personally though, as my meat comes from a butcher who has his own slaughterman. I know he is a craftsman of the old school and I have sufficient faith in his skills to eat meat from animals he has eviscerated completely raw - with the exception of pork, as the muscle tissue can contain some parasites that are not found in sheep and cattle. Meat from the supermarket, however, is somewhat more suspect. I will sear the outside to make sure any contamination is destroyed. However, I like my meat to taste of meat, so 30 seconds either side is plenty for me thanks. If there were a practical way to kill bacteria without cooking it and leave the beef in it's natural state, I would prefer that. One day we will all have home irradiating machines to do the job.

There hasn't been a proper friday thread in a while. Okay, so there was that one about "Black Friday", but that's a bit half-hearted.
Do you think the economic downturn is the cause of this? It's either that or else contaminated Chinese dairy products are to blame.

Are you asking if the economic downturn has so disheartened us that we have lost our desire for base humor? I think not- witness the rollicking Morality threads going on right now. On a more serious note- sales (at least for me and I imagine for others) have dropped to such a degree that even when one does not see SL as a "real" money maker - we are talking pennies here at least for us small entrepreneurs - it is depressing none the less, and I for one start questioning my own skills as a creator/designer- so then I go explore like last night and that cheered me right up- it did not however, inspire Friday Frivolity

I wasn't talking about bacteria. I know beef can be as blue as you want and not make you ill, just like I know to cook pork thoroughly.
I just would rather not have my meat practically raw thankyou, I'm not a huge fan of meat anyway, and practically bloody steaks or whatever make me feel ill just looking at them. Each to their own, thats fine, just my preference is extremely well done.
