Hi all! Just wanted to mention for those who may not be getting notices, there's a post-Halloween costume party on Sunday, 2-4 at my and Cee's place! Are you kicking yourself for not wearing that costume/avatar you just found in your inventory? Found something new that's really cool? Missed seeing your friends' costumes?

Strut your stuff this Sunday! We'll even have a runway walk, for those who dare!

AND Aeb says she'll be there with Fraps in hand, so we all have a chance to live forever in machinima! Woot!

2-3 PG rated only, 3-4 anything goes!

We'll be trying out our own audio stream too, so if anyone has tunes to request, shoot'em to me!

In the bumper car barn at the Lazy C Ranch, IM Cee Edman or me if you don't already have a LM for us.

(oh, and Amar, happy rezday!)

Yay! Crazy Sunday afternoon at the Lazy C Ranch. Sounds perfect. :)

/me looks at inventory...not a thing to wear...what to do...what to do...

Dinner time

I have some left over pastry and a sirloin steak (I think in American restaurants it's sometimes referred to as a New York strip steak - it's the bit that would be a Porterhouse steak if the fillet and the bone were still there.

So I've decided to see if I can make a beef Wellington using sirloin instead of the more traditional fillet. Any ideas on whether this will work or be a disaster?

I hope it works, because everything else is frozen.

Why do you want to ruin a good steak like that? Just grill it up with a little Olive Oil and Garlic, splash some Worcestershire on it at the end, and you are good to go.

We all know the "News Media" and the so called "journalists" of today are nothing but sensationalistsic hype mongers, pandering to idiots who can't think for themselves. They are a disgrace to their profession, and all the greats in the field who have come before them.

There was the instance awhile back right here, where a Show from the UK i think, wanted people to share their SL romance stories. Some people from this forum applied and were told their stories werem't usable...no heartbreak, sleaze or other juicy stuff. The hell with them. Chet Huntley and David Brinkley must be spinning in their graves.

Sad but true! A day or two after the election I'm in front of the TV flipping thru the major news networks. An actual news department would have had a story like "What will Obama do about, Iraq, energy, the economy, health care, education, etc."

But NOOOO!!!!! The big story of the day is about what kind of friggin dog he is going to buy. :o

Had that last night and I want a change. Plus, the addition of pastry makes everything better.

Last I made a beef wellington, it involved wrapping an entire roast (like a tenderloin) in puff pastry... how are you going to do this with just one steak?

Maybe you could make a beef pot pie if you insist on adding puff; throw some carrots n stuff in a bowl like for a beef stew, then cover it with puff, egg wash, and into the oven you go.

Random Fact: The first known contraceptive was crocodile dung, used by Egyptians in 2000 B.C.

Undoubtedly the worlds most effective contraceptive 'cause who wd want to get close enough after that

It's usually done with a single individual portion of fillet.

Actually, I think a strip would work well as a Wellington if it is a good, thick cut.

Coming from Teaxas I have to say, sirloin is great for making chili. Trim it well and cut up into small cubes (1/2 inch or 1 to 1.5 cm)

Sirloin is also good for fondue

YMMV

Seems fair enough. He has civil servants and defence staff to do all the rest of the stuff you mentionned.

That sounds like a shocking waste of good sirloin. I'd use shin of beef for anything slow cooked like chilli or curry; more connective tissue, so it all melts and thickens whatever sauce or liquor you are cooking it in.

Being a sportsman, I like my meat to have a chance of fighting back. It just seems fairer that way.
