Hide this one from Sami.. He may come around here and declare:

"This thread has outlived its usefulness."

Peace

Hey there, Harpoon! Glad you could stop by this morning. :) Who is Sami, by the way?

Usefulness? Wait...we're supposed to be useful? Was there a memo? :p

Anyway, for your first posting here:

Today we are going to solve the world economic crises.

If all the economists in the world were laid end to end . . .

/they would be having a really good time
//sorry, I read Economics in University and that was about the level of jokes about economists - sad isn't it
///I once won a bottle of champagne from the London Sunday Times for the only good joke about economists

We were also told that we should NEVER solve too many problems at once or it would put us out of our jobs

/but the ex-street-vendors took our jobs with the banks anyway

huh...for some odd reason, I've not watched any Food Network show since February...there must be a connection...just can't quite put my finger on it...

But, when I did watch - I loved Guy Fieri and Alton Brown...Ina Garten, Michael Chiarello...and of course, "Ace of Cakes." :D

The garlic fried turkey looks to die for. I've heard of the place but have yet to go. I'll be in Brooklyn next week visiting my brother, maybe I will swing by.

:D i will be expecting a full review. if i was rich, i would drive to Brooklyn just for that turkey...

It was a false alarm. The water came back on with-in an hour. We've all been hooked up to a temporary pipe running along our gutter for a week, in preparation for the work tomorrow. So I think they must have switched us to that pipe today.
We have a 60 gallon tank of spring water in our garage, connected to a faucet on our kitchen sink, a truck fills it up for us periodically. So we have plenty of non-chlorine tasting drinking water. And we collect gray water from our showers for watering plants etc. so we had enough of that on hand to re-fill the toilet tanks a couple of times any way. But not 12 hours worth!
I don't stink too bad. I took a shower this morning. :D

you're ready for armageddon.

Multiple personality disorder person.. I love couscous- may I suggest using either a healthy request soup as a base or a bullion cube- depending on why u need bland

LOLOLOL it wasn't 'really' bland, i put good stuffs in it.... but in comparison to that frikkin super thick southern gravy (i could practically smell it thru my tv) they were puring on their mashed taters in Texas, it was sounding pretty pathetic. i ate, i got full, i got over it... sort of. LOL

Couscous kicks ass with some lamb, cumin, coriander, allspice, tomatoes, chickpeas, onions, garlic, mint, parsley, and chicken broth. :)

and thick gravy!

Awesome! but she was calling it bland so I am thinking she needed it to be so. I make mine very plain usually- olive oil and garlic. If I want adventure i do choose a nice bullion cube. It all goes nicely with lamb and yes anything else- but yumm with lamb :)
I'm Cuban- I eat rice every night when granny cooks- so every once in a while- I sneak a little something different in- omg u do not want to see my mom eat sushi! Sacrilege :(

i hardly eat fillers. meat and veggies, with the occasional couscous or wheat pasta. i added chicken broth, fresh minced garlic, basil & rosemary (to match the rosemary chicken). it was good, but oh how i long for thick country gravy. my lifestyle does not permit gravy in my daily diet anymore. it does not permit a lot of good yums anymore. :(
