I just discovered that we have no water. I called the water dept and learned that it's because of a broken water main which will take about 12 hours to fix.
I've been worrying about this for years ever since I realized how old our system is. The weird thing is we were expecting them to turn off the water tomorrow because that's when they've been planning to replace the pipes around here - presumably including the one that just burst!

 oh crap! i dunno how many hours have passed, but hopefully you are stocked up on bottled water to get you through the next day.

glad i'm not your neighbor this day. you probably stink.

Nope. luckily he's not one of mine, he's from Jersey City. They are a breed unto themselves. They still run the Old Style Political Machine there.

@ Soji:
I'll have yesterdays special, as long as it's not the sentient chili, "don't eat the sentient chili"
(ps eating barney would be bad too, since he's likely done enough acid to kill a horse)

@ lil
First lyric is the best, thanks for the laugh, PS Olive oil? really? I know the other two are ugly as sin, but I always found annorexia to be a turn off =/ now Jessica Rabbit..... >=)

oh and rubble definately wins the barny fight, after Fife accidently shoots the dinasaur taking his gun out and rubble drops a rock on his head

The garlic fried turkey looks to die for. I've heard of the place but have yet to go. I'll be in Brooklyn next week visiting my brother, maybe I will swing by.

It was a false alarm. The water came back on with-in an hour. We've all been hooked up to a temporary pipe running along our gutter for a week, in preparation for the work tomorrow. So I think they must have switched us to that pipe today.
We have a 60 gallon tank of spring water in our garage, connected to a faucet on our kitchen sink, a truck fills it up for us periodically. So we have plenty of non-chlorine tasting drinking water. And we collect gray water from our showers for watering plants etc. so we had enough of that on hand to re-fill the toilet tanks a couple of times any way. But not 12 hours worth!
I don't stink too bad. I took a shower this morning. :D

Couscous kicks ass with some lamb, cumin, coriander, allspice, tomatoes, chickpeas, onions, garlic, mint, parsley, and chicken broth. :)

Awesome! but she was calling it bland so I am thinking she needed it to be so. I make mine very plain usually- olive oil and garlic. If I want adventure i do choose a nice bullion cube. It all goes nicely with lamb and yes anything else- but yumm with lamb :)
I'm Cuban- I eat rice every night when granny cooks- so every once in a while- I sneak a little something different in- omg u do not want to see my mom eat sushi! Sacrilege :(
