Shame, Al Sharpton is planning 'HIS' big day in the spotlight and not Michael Jackson's. At least the brother's and sister's have been showing dignity.
I have YET to see Latoya Jackson!
I have a theory that she & MJ are the same person.

I watched CNN as they tried to "confirm" MJ's death. I knew he was dead the moment Fox News said he was in a coma.. that says a lot about Fox News, doesn't it?
Sadly, his passing was met by several crude jokes among my coalition mates in CoH.. and my son seeing a pic of MJ and going, "Mommy, what's wrong with his face?" It's the end of an era for music, but hey, on with the new era! Granny Madonna! _____________________

i watched part of the show the other night about Farrah when she had them film her treatments..
the one lady wanted to turn the camera off when she was feeling sick or they were doing something she thought would be embarrassing for Farrah..she said..don't turn it off..this is cancer..so she never turned the camera away again.. such a terrible way to go for such a sweet Lady for anyone for that matter.. _____________________

I watched CNN as they tried to "confirm" MJ's death. I knew he was dead the moment Fox News said he was in a coma.. that says a lot about Fox News, doesn't it? Very likely all the major news agencies knew it from the 911 call onward. Jackson was already not breathing for some time by the time the call was made. However being legally able to publicly announce it is another matter. Soon as I saw how much time the major news channels were spending on the story without having anything new to say I felt pretty sure he was gone. They don't do that without reason. It reminded me of how they were all speaking of JFK Jr. as if he was already dead, hours before his body was found. And yet they wouldn't stop carrying the news about his crash. _____________________

Interesting article about the geezer who runs TMZ here:
It provides a pretty good explanation of why the major media were dragging their heels over the news of Jackson's death. |

Yes I remember that Fox News/CNN reported it only after the L.A. Times 'confirmed' (read: was first to stick its neck out) the death of Michael Jackson. That made me scowl a bit, since that is a rag and a half.
Hypocrisy. _____________________

The poor man will be as surrounded by controversy as Tutankhamun. I am sure musician and rock/performer community will ignore all moralizing and watch the man himself as he danced and controlled his "space". I have watched those moves in slow motion and every which way, and he surpassed and rose above all else and danced like an angel. I still wonder how his timing can be so perfect - yes practise ofcourse - but even more than that. It's like Pavarotti hitting a high C. Joined and in tune with his musical sphere. There may be others like him (let's pray there are!) but he had an edge that was like a blade made of ice on a rose petal.

Then TMZ retracted to "In a Coma", and then the LA Times went with "Dead" and everyone followed suit. Separating the artist from the person, I wasn't a fan of his post J5 stuff myself, but he was an innovator and a true icon, both musically and as a dancer, especially. And he deserves a place amongst the greats of his genre. Many of whom, were not model citizens , either. _____________________

O.k. now that she has been dead a few days.
Let me go on to why i am pissed off at Farrah Fawcet. I grew up in Woodland Hills, California, right off Mulholland drive (before it was paved and when it was just dirt). Farrah lived about a 1/2 mile away. I used to take horseback riding lessons at a place maybe 2 miles away from us. And i would ride my bike down old Mulholland Drive, right past Farrah's. Now, Farrah had a large fenced in property. Except the fence was one of those that you could step through the center of it by bending over so it basically had 2 horizontal pieces of wood with 2ft gaps or so between the pieces. Now, this is fine for keeping in her horses....But the 3 freaking dogs she had got through the fence without a pause and would chase me all the way down the road (luckily it was down hill), and i would have to beg the stable people to give me a ride home in their truck because i could not ride back past Farrah's place because her dogs would get me for sure. The worst part about it was that maybe the 3rd time it happened, i could see her huge picture window with people standing in it watching me pedal for my life - and yes i cried every time, i was only 12. It was a total nightmare, and when my mom sent her a letter about it, she never fixed her fence, so i stopped my horseback riding lessons. I've never been much of a fan of hers because of that with the exception of "Burning Bed", and not until i saw it in the mid-90's. I am sorry she died the way she did, and wish she had lived a normal lifespan untortured by cancer, but wow did she make my summer hard. _____________________

You must admit its a lotta fun to watch a kid pedal really fast chased by a pack of ravenous hounds. It builds up stamina. _____________________

Actually, TMZ was reporting his death first, everybody else was "confirming". Then TMZ retracted to "In a Coma", and then the LA Times went with "Dead" and everyone followed suit. Since you quoted mine above yours, this paragraph reads as a 'correction.' So please reread my post. Where did I say Fox or CNN were first to report it? Also I was talking about tv media not print media. The whole point of my earlier post was that it was a bit hypocritical that Fox/CNN would only *confirm* (actually, report, since that was the first they had outright said so) MJ was dead once the L.A. Times confirmed the death. TMZ wasn't good enough for them. The irony/hypocrisy IMO is that L.A. Times is "a rag and a half." I have reasons for saying this but I can't share them here and they're not relevant since it still amounts to my opinion. But yeah you seem to have misread my post. _____________________

Upon her death, Farrah Fawcett ends up in heaven, standing before St. Peter at the Pearly Gates.
St Peter says "Before you go in, I can grant you one last request" Farrah says "I wish all the children in the world would be safe". Next thing you know, Michael Jackson is standing beside her. ![]() _____________________

this is still one of my favorite songs..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehal1eUG1jk I don't care how the media painted him..I know how they work and how easy it is to make someone look like a terrible person..i know if anyone wrecks peoples lives it is the media.. I feel he was a very easy target for people that were greedy for money.. facts: He was born with a beautiful voice and talent and cared about the world and the people in it. ![]() _____________________

Well I tend to believe kids who make such claims, and he did pay the kid 20 million dollars. But you are correct none of us KNOWS. But I am mentioning this to say that the mixed feelings are beginning to set in. Also the way his family seems to want him to be the exception in a city KNOWN for its stars. (How many MILLIONS of dollars is renting the Staples center, blocking traffic, diverting police, etc., costing an already bankrupt state?) Yes it would be nice if he could be buried on the grounds he loved. But, Forest Lawn is acceptable for many, many greats including Marilyn Monroe.
That said, I wish they could somehow turn Neverland into a public attraction in some sane way that would co-exist peaceably with the locals. But, I don't know if there is any way to do that. It would change the peaceful cattle farming valley forever and I'm sure they know that. Traffic from literally all over the world streaming through, night and day, once those gates opened. (They keep talking about that two lane road but no one says if it's possible to, hey, widen it?!) Truthfully if I owned that land (Ha!) I'd parcel off part and apply to make it a cemetery, and parcel off another part and rent it to Jackson family members for $1 a year each. That said, the family seems to want it all. So that may be why they get none. I had thought about trying to go to the "memorial" but then I thought - stand in line for how long, if 20,000 people showed up? And the mess that downtown traffic NORMALLY is (total gridlock) times by 20,000? And then they said the body won't even be there, so what is it really? Some videos and guest appearances? So why do people make that migration all the way from overseas for it? I don't understand that type of fanatical devotion. Was always a big Elvis fan, from childhood; still haven't been to Graceland. Also it's a shame how Farrah got lost in all of this - she barely got a mention. _____________________
