'teh' is usually a mere typo. 'U' is just an example of the evolution of language, like we say 'I'm' instead of 'I am'. Also, you said 'sl' when it should be 'SL'!

I quite like the idea of adopting 'U' in place of 'you'. It makes sense - it's not like saying 'L8r' for later, which will never get beyond the realms of texting and rapid chat.
I do use some shortend words like U and dint in chat in world as one needs to be quick but I don't do that in the forums. What does confuse me is when French people leave out apostrophies in their chat shorthand, so you puzzle over things like 'Jai mange lescargot pour ptdejeuner jourdhui'. _____________________

How do we promote goodness here and a world worthy of teh arts and offers accessible relationships taht are not scarred by labels or behaviours that attract the attention of serious journalists and demean ourselves as members of sl? What limits must we endure if we are to be regarded as a viable "Brave New World"? It seems to me there's plenty of room in SL for the artistic, commercial and adult aspects. The documentary didn't seem particularly bad, either. I don't believe it's anything to worry about. I was a little disappointed not to see my avatar in it. _____________________

Oh that is so witty of you all. I type liek this coz it my musculature/nerves in my fingers. My speed or something also adds. I cant help it and I jus dont bother corrrecting everything I write anymore. Letters get lost coz I damaged my nerves in an illness and now get screwed up coz my fingers dont work at same pace as my brain. It' not intentional. You can tak teh piss if you like - my goodness you must all be professors and wondrous journalists and nobel prize winning novelists that I am surrounded by. I am hooured to be in your company Yeah and I had a stroke last October. Your point? Spell check FTW... _____________________

The day I give up on art will be the day a US attorney general has lady justice covered with a sheet to protect himself from pornographic images.
When that day arrives...all art will be dead to me. In the mean time, I say let freedom of expression reign, and I'll reserve the right to just not look. But! Ah will nevah despiol teh engilsh langauge wiht tpyos! _____________________

Before you groan and sharpen your knives on this consider a recent documentary shown in Canada taht "exposes" the underbelly of sl and taht supports teh thesis that our world is little more than a clearing house for socially inadequate people who indulge in dark fantasies or sad relationships. Yet, in part, they are correct. We are quite the collection of socially inadequate people, inadequate because we are creative, free-thinking and unashamed of being outside the norm in creativity, sexuality and social caste. Inadequate because, at least in North America, people who seek sexual adventure in anything outside a RL bed, or with more than one person at a time, or with someone not necessarily of opposite gender, as some kind of perverse weirdo. I do not worry one iota about media nonsense like this. Why? Because I'm old enough to remember the same sorts of things said in just the same tone about D&D, heavy metal music, video gaming, the hula-hoop and every popular cultural activity that didn't involve a Bible and/or Disney. All the hype and hyperbole over the years has had ZERO effect on the longevity of those activities, because people who enjoy those activities do not believe this rubbish for one moment in the first place, to their credit. Yes, there's a lot of us who like hopping on poseballs with each other. Only stifled simpletons would want everyone to believe higher callings involve a lack of sexual content and adult situations. We are the inadequate because we're too damn smart, and altogether too damn human, to confine ourselves to their mode of thinking and their limited capacity for sexual expression. The Europeans regard us as a joke on this issue, and now you know why. I am sick and tired of documentaries created from what's observed between HIP and Waterhead. _____________________

Are you dyslexic? I don't trust dyslexics. ROFL Sorry, that was OT. For what it's worth, I agree with Qie. No point in censoring SL just to make it prettier. Life is chaos. Why force SL to exist outside of chaos? It would be a very dull place indeed. _____________________

I don't know how you define good but my experience has been that SL really exposes how narrow our cultures have become. If you use sex to sell beer: good If you have user created sex in SL: bad Maybe SL gives us a chance to reclaim our stuff: music, interaction, art, writing, and yes sex. Before discussing censorship I think we have to question the assumption that the way it is now in FL is somehow right and good and needs protecting. Has anyone noticed how many ads there are now during the day on TV for anti-depressants? Maybe people in SL didn't leave mainstream culture, it left us. Oh, well said! People, can we stop ragging on Jig about her typing skills and discuss the topic? I like the thought that Dnali has expressed here... SL is "Your World, Your Imagination"...and lo and behold, what have we imagined? A whole lotta sex. In many different forms. This is not necessarily a Bad Thing. Sex has ALWAYS been Topic Number One for humans. Not for everyone, and not all the time, but still right up there in the charts. Current mainstream society seems to want to mask or suppress that, in what may be a holdover from our Puritan heritage. So here we have a new world, largely (so far) free from the influence of The Church(es), government, and Madison Avenue. And Sex is a big part of it. What surprises me is that anyone should be surprised! _____________________

I jus dont bother corrrecting everything I write anymore. I too am a horrid typist and a terrible speller. When I want to be taken seriously, I re-read everything I type, usually about 5 times, and correct every error I can detect and rewrite phrases I think could be worded better -- actually I do this whether or not I want to be taken seriously because I take a certain pride in what I write. An intentional "teh" for atmosphere or whatever is perfectly acceptable; a typo that you're too lazy to correct is sad especially when I believe you were serious about making a point with your post. _____________________
