Awww peace and love everyone standing up to defend:

the barely legal WEAPONS CONTRACTOR.

Its all good though, there will be less drama in his Main Grid life. Because now at least half his in-world friends will be over 18.

One typo is a hell of a lot different than a post that is basically unreadable.

I'm assuming you have never heard of dyslexia or know anyone who suffers from it?

It is no wonder that people lurk on forums due to the fear of being ridiculed.

People have already stated what I too feel about some of the replies to the OP. Some of them are downright rude and unfriendly. It seems if you are not part of the forum clique then you aren't welcome here, it's a very difficult place to fit in and feel completely welcome. Maybe that is not true of most posters, some of you are lovely, but from reading these forums on a regular basis, it's the feeling I get.

PS: Are you the forum spelling and grammar police?

Just a quick note: Forum clique? If that has any connection to the Forum Cartel Hangout in world, please note that there have been members from that hangout on both sides of this issue. And we are not a clique. So . . . if we are not a clique. Right, disregard my post.

Sorry Lexxi, I wasn't relating to the forum hangout, just the SL forums in general.

Welcome to the main grid!
As someone who has suffered with various things including depression. I know myself in world I seem resistant to use capitalization because I get very tired and when I am feeling really low I don't capitalize either.
I remember even given hard time in College because when writing essays I had problem capitalizing the letter "i"
One thing I will say from experience is often I expect the worse in others, I am hyper-sensitive to this.
When I am feeling bad, it often seems their will always be someone to kick me when I am down or encourage the negativity, it is like I am magnet almost.More down I feel more I seem to attract certain type, Important thing for people like myself need to do is focus on postive people and situations and avoid the judgmental, negative types.
I keep to myself and focus on what I enjoy creating, have select and chosen group of friends who are kind, supportive and accepting of me.
Why open oneself to being around negative, abusive people when you're struggling and depressed?
My theory about spelling complainer is they really want someone to attack and lash out because they are have some severe mental anal retentive disturbance or control issues..
To the people in the forum get quite anal about spelling. I don't get it. It's not like he shoot your
Grandma. Get over it! Find something more productive to do with your time. Maybe consider becoming English Grammar tutor or something more productive then waste your time lashing out on others spelling poorly.
Perhaps spend your time attacking rl newspaper journalist who spell badly? Since they get paid for it they should be writing correctly right?
I think some people just need something to attack someone about sadly Mrc this
is perfect example of how childish people get here.
People aren't any nicer or more mature here in this grid, often just more greedier, sadist,
and will find new ways to scam money because we are adults and thought to have more.

Aww... Eve. Sometimes, we tend to see only the negative 'cause it affects us more - touches a cord or something. I think if you scan over all that's been written, you'll find that most people are relatively polite. Just scroll down the less interesting answers. I'm sure some scroll down what I have to say. :o
I'm certainly not part of any 'clique' (notice the amount of posts I have), and I've never been to the Forum Cartel Hangout -Yet! :) - what I do know is that I enjoy blah-blahing about this and that, sometimes even about things I know nothing about, heheh It's fun.

*edit: That goes for you, too, Velda - Jump in!!!!

Dyslexia does look different. I've had friends with it and taught students at university who couldn't get rid of their dyslexia (It's easiest to get rid of, and you CAN get rid of it, in elementary school), and the symptoms are different. You get a lot of words where the letters just don't make much sense (the order is wrong) or that are spelt like spoken, more than in the OP's post. General inability to spell, as in learning difficulties, is something different.

And no, Chris isn't the grammar police, but I would like to be that-it's so much like my RL job I'd feel as if I were working...

Alyx, I have a good friend with dyslexia who is degree educated and he still has it and can't get rid of it. I'm sure he would to though, so any pointers would be good.

/me Thanks Isabeau for the offer, I prefer to trawl through the forums rather than risk of posting now... kind of take it personally when ridiculed! Applies in RL, SL and here!

For all the help this forum is (I am so very appreciative of it!) I still shy away from joining in due to the sometimes harsh responses (although at times very amusing ones) I suppose by posting in support of someone who feels the same way makes me feel a little less alone here?!?

Hm, difficult-those people who managed to get rid of it (and it IS hard, because it's a serious mix up in the brain....not just laziness, but you know that already) that I know of all had special classes and also speech therapy sessions in elementary school.

One of my closest friends was first thought to be just "stupid" until they diagnosed him with dyslexia; luckily early enough. It seems very hard for adults to get to grips with the techniques that work in children.

Those students I have taught that were dyslexic had tried without success to get rid of it- at the German uni I teach as well as the British one I taught for a year, dyslexic people DO get special treatment concerning spelling errors in tests though.

But I also noticed those who are dyslexic or have similar problems such as dysgraphia (which is even worse because you sometimes can't even tell which letter a single letter is) or dyscalculia (same with numbers...) strive extra hard to be better than others. That's why I just plain dislike lazy spellers. People can even use a simple spell checker (I do that on Firefox; everything I type on forums etc. will get spell checked!).

On the topic of griefers attacking the OP, as I guess they must know him from the Teen grid, I woud ALWAYS include that in capital letters in any AR filed- that they are possibly UNDERAGE.

You don't seem to be a lazy speller, you're safe from me then! ;)

And even if you were, I'm not ridiculing anyone for that either-just some mostly not-so-subtle hints to use a spell checker...

...but I have an excuse, it comes with my job. I'm cursed. :D

Come to the forum hangout, chatting is far more forgiving than forum posts anyway-I frequently apologise for my lack of typing skills in chat...I type too fast. =^.^=

I have been on the Main Grid for a little over 2 months now, and I already have heard rumors starting about me!

The past 1-2 weeks I've been the victim of griefer attacks when at the places I go to alot. They all seem to be new avatars and they always go right for me, or grief the places where I work.

Just today I heard a few of these rumors and it seems that people are saying that I steal other people's stuff and claim Its my work, It seems to be only the weapon vendors.

On the teen grid I was a weapons scripter for New Rome and the very powerful army there. I did a bit of weapon scripting for half the armies there secretly behind the scenes. Due tho this my name got pretty much trashed.

I'm not sure this is the best topic to talk about it but I would like to know what I have done to the weapon vendors on the Main grid? If anything at all?

Or it is just some teens that got a hold of a adult accounts and came after me? I would really like to know! I'd like to not have my name trashed again >.>

~Mrc

There now its all fixed.

Actually I think that its less his spelling and more his sentence structure/mistakes with homonyms that made it difficult.

------------------

Sounds like the Weapons Vendors in Second Life don't want the new kid on the block competition.

-OR-

Some of his enemies followed him here.

------------------

So is he really asking if any of us know (or know of) the people griefing him and why?

Thanks Alyx, my friend is severely affected by the condition, however I'm glad to say it hasn't held him back career wise, but it was an uphill struggle for him and as you know spell checkers just ain't the answer!

I don't even script at sandboxes. I have a bunch of friends that gladly let me do my little creations at their place.

The is another thing I don't get about it. Even though Weapons are a big thing, this system I am making is similar to TCS, and it is going to be a freebie!

Yes my spelling and stuff is crap that is not the point.

I am not in sl to make a shitload of money. I am one of the nicest people that you will find, I haven't charged anything for any of the work I have done for people. Hell, I am mainly in this just for the fun of it!

I just want to get all this off my back!

So he wants to turn out freebies that are comparable to some market systems, and provide free scripting to his friends, and wants all the drama of the Teen Grid, and this new mess to go away.

I meant spell checkers if you type too fast, like me, or if you're a lazy speller....NOT against dyslexia. If employers or lecturers know about the dyslexia of someone, they are obliged to keep from pestering you about it I think-I shouldn't keep anyone from any career, as it has nothing whatsoever to do with intellectual capability.

@Velda: Well thanks if you don't even recognise a joke. You never said anywhere you had any neurological affliction.

Come on Chris...What is the REAL BEEF? Is it your dislike of weapons? Cards on the table sort of thing...it helps in eliminating 5000 useless posts back and forth, accusations and all that malarkey. Personally I hate weapons (except my light saber...which I have never used) and if you can call a MystiTool a weapon...then I have one of those too.
Personally I was able to read the gist of the original post easily, and it didn't offend my sensibilities. So if you stick to your 'guns' on this one Chris, we all lose. We all lose respect for each other, and personally I would hate to see that happen over misspelled words. We humans have the ability to have a change of heart...Hell, even ANIMALS have that ability!

I couldn't have said it better...leave it to a dolphin to put us all strait..Thanks Jimmy!

Can I have someones permission to de-rail this topic and talk about pie?

I could care less about weapons.
Graph, if you know anything about me, I always stick to my guns. That is what makes me the lovable arrogant redneck that I am. I very seldom call names. I very seldom cuss. I never back down.

The OP hasn't been seen in many pages. How about we let him take the advice he's gotten AND the bonus advice on spelling/grammar and wait to hear from him before we wrangle any more about this?
