That's thirded. It's the topic. This thread can only result in hurt feelings. I stayed away from this thread for this very reason but popped in tonight. I would have posted this if you hadn't. _____________________

This is another point that impacts forum posts for me. As a visual learner, I don't identify people so much by their names (at first) as by the forum avatar or even the advertisement in the signature. So those of you without pictures I tend to lump into an anonymous mass at first. I may read the post and only then look over to see who it is. Of course I recognize the regulars even without pictures, but for those of you who don't post a lot, it might help me and other visual learners to have a picture or signature to identify you post to post. A pin-up? A Poster for the Poster? Since you requested a pin-up I've sent you a pic of me. You can look at it when you are in your little house. _____________________

I go by the thread question, not the poster.
I have to say, though, that I have found a couple of trolls that I preemptively banned/muted inworld so I'd never have to meet 'em. None, however, are forum regulars just irregulars ![]() _____________________

I read some of the people, some of the time and likewise with threads. Now and again I get annoyed, even angry. Other times I'm amused, or have a good LOL over some of the cleverly funny jokes. No names, no pack drill.
There is nobody I refuse to read, several who are frequently amusing and a few whose posts I'd always enjoy reading if I saw them in a thread I was following - either because they have interesting points of view, or are the ones I'd check to see what tosh and/or hypocrisy they're spouting today. I wouldn't skip reading a post in a thread just 'cos it's a new name to me - that person is worth my time as much as anyone else. The top and bottom of it is, I read the forum for info and entertainment, and life is too short to get underwear in a twist for long over anyone or anything posted here. -- Aes |

I should spank you Sis for starting this thread.
I read threads based on their title and if the title is nebulous, I'll read the first few posts to get the topic nailed down. I don't particularly read or not read a thread based on the starter, although occasionally the Last Poster may get me to look at a thread that otherwise wouldn't interest me. _____________________

I read just about everyone...I even peek in on Pep once in a while, even though I keep him on Ignore most of the time.
That said, there are some times, when I see a name as a thread originator or the most recent responder, I click on the thread with a tiny extra thrill of anticipation. Some people, like Qie, I like to read because they simply KNOW so darn much, and can analyze issues and think so clearly you can't help but learn something from them. Some people are wry and witty and always make me smile. Argent's funny ferret pictures are a high point of my browsing day (plus he's super smart, like Qie). Some people are humorous, in a self-deprecating Bob Newhart sort of way. Jerboa, and Trout come to mind. Some are consistent. You always know where they stand, and know they won't be moved. Hi, Chris! Some are just so warm and friendly you want to be close to them, like Maureen. Some riff off one another in an endless stream of one liners, making the thread seem like slow-motion improv. Brenda has a special way of slipping in little zingers, when she's not waving her pants in salute. Damien, Rio, Amara, Lil, Tex, Eli...the list is way too long, and I know I'll forget someone(s). And I always read Desmond's posts. Whether it's food for thought or his rarer frivolous escapades, he's always a treat. Y'know what? I read Jig's posts too. I like to see what responses her questions provoke. Long live the forums and their denizens...hugs and cookies for everyone. _____________________

It's OK, they haven't worked out you're another of my alts yet . . . ![]() Funny, I have almost accused you of being my alt before! You do remind me of Smif on another abstinence bender fueled by a break-up and the lack of espresso. I do think it would kill you inside to actually write "ain't" though, so maybe not. ![]() _____________________
