Realism would be accepting the search ranking you've actually earned,

Realism would be acepting you're a great creator but not great in the big bad world of marketing. That's realism.

I wouldn't look too far for an explanation :).

He's stuck on a mainland sim so he can only go so far before his bots get the boot and he'll never be able to game his way to the top of Search / Places which puts him at a disadvantage compared to full sim stores who can throw far more bots at it.

He lists first in the new search on the other hand so getting rid of traffic in Places is in his best interest, he can pocket all the extra exposure by having only the new search around.

Additionally, he has his store listed 5 times in the new search across various places (wouldn't it be fun if everyone did that?) so even if you skip past the first few pages he'll still turn up again and again and again. That's not really feasible with a traffic driven search since it would require bots on each parcel to spread the listings out evenly and he's already pushing the limit with the bots on one parcel.
You are shit stirring, Kitty.

Realism would be accepting the search ranking you've actually earned, not using fraud to artificially gain something you haven't earned. Your own behavior puts the lie to your statement. If it's so easy to get established why the bot farm in the first place? Just make something people want to buy and promote it honestly. Does it take a lot of practice to simultaneously talk out of both sides of your face that way?
You are so dense, Chip. How many times do you need telling why I use the bots, before it gets through that thick skull of yours? I use them because they help to earn extra money for me. Yes, I know that "money" is a dirty word to some of you, but that's life, old son. Money is necessary for even you to soil your hands with.

I happen to like money, but I think greed really sucks. So I ask again, Phil, since your bots earn you extra money, why, specifically, do you feel LL should get rid of them?

I told you already - because I'd rather not run the other computer for them. It isn't anything to do with the anti-bots' reasoning, but I'd rather the traffic rankings were done away with so that I don't have to run the other computer 24/7. I said that a very long time ago in this forum.

I'll cop to that. I'm lazy, what can I tell ya? Fortunately for me I'm well known enough that I don't really need to. Word of mouth alone brings me a satisfactory return. But let's not conflate traffic bots with marketing. Marketing is advertising. Using a hack to create fraudulent data that artificially inflates search ranking is not advertising, nor is it representative of a skill. Quite the opposite I'd say. It's more like an admission that the bot operator has insufficient skill to succeed without resorting to hackery.

That's a bullshit answer, Phil, because there's absolutely nothing preventing you from turning that other computer off right now.

It isn't a hack, Chip. It's just logging in some extra avs. And I think that it's become well-known here that I personally have sufficient skill to be successful without them. But they generate in the order of US$1000 a month, so I don't see any sensible reason to turn them off.

Of course there isn't. I choose not to turn them off. Nobody has ever given a valid reason to turn them off.

If you think it's a bullshit answer, you're free to think that. It's the actual reason though.

Indeed, when one can take their main plot of land and subdivide up into 16m plots to generate extra inbound links to the main point by putting the surl in the description field.

It's not marketing, it manipulation of the search mechanisms

Same with putting a bunch of bots up in a box, it's not a marketing gimmick that brings in sales it's manipulation of search.

And earning a buck any way possible within the rules listed, well there is no rule listed that says you can't sell empty boxes to people or a lot of other things in order to make a buck.

LMAO. Who does that? You do realise that every 16m parcel would need to be paid for (show in search) to count, don't you? Do you think it's really worth doing that? And if you do, you don't understand much about the All search system.

Oh don't worry Phil, we know that actually paying for things is anathema to you - you know, actual marketing.

Depending on the income generated from doing it, it's small potatoes for many.

Same with putting prims in search as well.

After all if some people feel it's worth it to put 50+ prims for sale to build up an effect in search all, some will feel it worth it to put 8 plots loaded with links up on search.

Especially since they can sell links off them. In other words all those ad farm plots can suddenly be making revenue by allowing people to pay them to put the surl in them, making the cost for putting them up fall behind the profit margins.

All tittle tattle.....you're just making comments for the sake of making one!

You obviously have trouble reading the the thread in general....if you really think I'm a Pro-botter. Because i don't want to be part of your gang....i'm immediately a pro-botter! rofl

Why should i even respond to you in future?
You are right, I don't think you are a pro-botter anymore, you are just a troll. You will respond because trolls inevitably do.

Nobody comes to a public forum and starts to get personal and then claims they don't care about the issue unless they are trolling.

There's nothing wrong with using prims for sale. We've been through that before. You need to be more specific.

Now you've given ex-ad farmers an idea. Silly you.

Hmm... that's exactly what you did. So, by your definition, you are a troll. Interesting.

Not even close. All I am is the one who posts here on the subject. If you are looking for self-styled gods, look no further than those who want to shape all of SL in their own image. A mirror might be useful ;)
No your Mommy said you were always right, you said so - if you need to say something like that then you have already lost...epically.

Wrong again, dear oh dear you are showing habit. I care very much about the topic and the issue and have never claimed otherwise. Also despite what you claim, you are *always* the one who gets personal first with your little "let me correct you" condescentions. You don't see it as that but that is like holding your head under the blanket and assuming others will not see what you will not face either.

But you started to get personal with insults and such. You did exactly what you accused Rene of doing. You're a troll according to your own definition - and stupid enough to accuse someone else of what you do yourself. Weird.
