Not that I advocate attacking people ..
But if the TOS is only selectively enforced,
where griefers routinely get away with things ..
while normal homeowners are the only ones who get in trouble..
It will lead to some cynical people.
I can appreciate the frustration... truly... but with the tools already available, I don't understand the reaction to that frustration.

I dunno... I guess a lot has changed in a year.

Not happy about Linden Labs purchase of XStreet (formerly SLX) and OnRez. Will this mean LL will ban resident run online shoping outlets in favor of their own?

I would strongly suggest that your bf take a class on land ownership to become aware of all the powers and options, or to read the knowledge base.... or just play with About Land.

...instead of playing with each other's AV.

So, my boyfriend and I are in one of his/our homes today, having some intimate time but we forgot to lock up. In comes a women, and we were polite to her but it was very obvious we were, umm, busy. But she stays there conversing as if we're having a sandwich, and tells us she' has been to his house before when he wasn't there.

Now, said boyfriend is a pleasant sort, and he's trying not to insult her so he says to her that she can come by and use his home anytime we're not there, but we're busy so, could she leave. But, instead of leaving, she calls on another friend! And this friend, is a huge pest and start using all the poseballs in the bedroom and telling him to f--k her! Of course, he's not having that, and because of that now she's calling him impotent!

The first women skaddled out of there, but the second women is now intent on doing whatever she can to piss us off. I'm getting seriously annoyed by this time. She's laying on the floor carrying on and i finally went over to her and adamently told her she was being rude, that we were very nice in saying they could use the house but now we'd had enough. He finally managed to push her out the door, and he locked it and closed all the blinds.

I can tell you, it really got me going! i'm usually pretty calm myself, but the blood was rushing out of me! Grrr!

I was fuming over this! I mean the nerve! Obviously to me, these two did this on purpose - this was no accident that they showed up in the house. My boyfriend, being the calm soul he is, really thought it was all accidental and just got out of hand until i pointed out to him that the 2nd women was "born" like a day ago!

Anyhoo - what is the best way to handle this. We have both of their names. Ignore it, send an abuse report, what?

All in a normal day of SL lol.

You know... before I took my year long break from SL... most of the people I knew were all about following the TOS/CS while protecting themselves from griefing/squatting. Now it seems a most people I talk to resent the TOS and want to grief the griefers...

What the hell happened while I was gone? lol

Two wrongs don't make a right... they just encourage the first wrong to take wrong to a new level.

Taking them out isn't wrong nor is the method used.

For some particularly egregious sorts of intruders and griefers, adding...emphasis...does seem called for.

It has changed. Griefers are widely perceived to have become much worse and much more numerous. It is probably an accurate perception. Certainly, some of them have gotten a lot more sophisticated. Or at least clever: You hear of more cases now of griefers banding together to make multiple, false ARs and get their victims suspended or banned by inobservant Lindens. It is gradually dawning on more people that many cases of griefing will have to be handled by the Residents themselves.

Just like FL, the world has to be geared to deal with the lowest common denominator. And in some cases, it is pretty low.

I dont think griefers are proportionately more numerous. I just think the number of Lindens handling griefing complaints haven't grown proportionally to keep up.

I think that griefers are far less numerous than they were in the olden days and I don't know how to explain that.

I will repeat that the best way to deal with them on your own land is not to shoot them but to use the Official Linden Labs tools which are freezing, tormenting them with verbal and physical abuse before ejecting them. If you use your alt key properly you can watch them flying through the air and landing with a thud on a neighboring parcel.

I welcome griefers just because of this. :)

Considering my usual hangouts I think I've had to deal with more griefers than most, the most common thing now seems to be particle spam. Which can take place from areas you can not do anything about other than report the new avatars (usually less than a day or two), and turn off particles

Well the tools already available don't seem to work unless you lock yourself up like a hermit on your own land and never explore.
And seeing there's only 2 avatars per sim online, the chances of the land owner coming to your aid is near zilch, I even been in clubs where staff had no powers to do anything.

I enjoyed this thread immensely! Last night I lived through my first home invasion. The partner and I were laying around on the poseballs and schmoozing each other up when out of the blue in the chat console there's this "heehee, I have come to rob your house". It was an Avi named MewMew. MewMew apparently enjoys announcing the fact that she'd come to rob your house...The partner asked her to leave and well of course she didn't. She traipsed right into our bedroom and stood over us. So I sic'd the dobie on her. The dobie went into attack mode and pushed her all over the room, she squealed for me to stop my dog and then pulled out a baseball bat and proceeded to beat my dobie with it! She tried to pass me some inventory items which I'm sure were completely evil. She managed to get my partner to take one because in all of the confusion, he thought it was from me.

I was beyond pissed. All I could do was fumble through my inventory looking for my orbiter. I orbited her but she came back. MewMew had big hairy ones. This drove me half insane and I decided to personally kick her ass by pushing her off the property. Didn't work, landlord was called up and we kicked and banned MewMew. I just wasn't aware that this was something I could do for myself....oh but I wanted more. I wanted some serious revenge. I came here looking for answers. I've found mine.

Freeze, Humiliate, Take Photos, Eject, Blog! All in world personal information will be revealed and passed on to my most evil friends. I anticipate the next home invasion! Wewt!

Now for the innocent fly by or explorer this does of course not apply. But if you've come to my house to cause grief, grief you will be served.

lol. Just make sure you have damage enabled before doing all that, or it's YOU that could get an AR.

Yes, don't forget to AR the intruder as well. Alerts the Lindens to what really went down if the griefer plays that game.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Right-click>Eject on the av, then ban.

Make sure it involves a male blowup doll with an unsightly appendage.

If you need practice, just go to the hangout and wait until someone goes AFK. Playing "Decorate the Sleeping Avatar" has become a tradition.

I have a few piccies of the poor victims - you would think people would learn not to tell us first that they are going afk lol.
My faves are box head and pumpkin face. Very very funny pics.
i think i even created a phantom doorway thing with one of the pics on for people teleporting onto the balcony. Tip for you all...never let me get a pic of you afk-dressed. I am mean with the pics lol.
i even got to use my sculptie banana!
