I would like to know if Jake can fix SL so I can get in I have stuff I wanted to do and i'm getting tired of dusting the office..

I am all knowing, not all powerful. Since the trouble is with the inventory, I would presume the issue lies with the asset server. We had troubles with scaling the asset serve when there were 100,000 residents. Imagine the issues when there are 3,000,000.

Yes. As long as the questions relate, at least generally to second life.

What can ordinary citizens do to save Second Life?

I am a Second Life Addict. My friends worry for my sanity, and now frequently come in world to attempt to rescue me from this 'cult'. Is there a cure for Second Life Addiction ? And is it painful ?

Don't pound on support. If you send an email and it doesn't get answered right away, don't send another asking why the first didn't get answered. I'm always seeing people here (in the blog/forums, not this thread) complaining that support must be overloaded because their daily, sometimes hourly, mail and phone calls go unanswered.

Educate newbies. Don't trash them for being stupid newbies, help them out and loan them a clue - the evils of camping chains, shooting strangers, megapoofbling, running around naked, where to find free stuff, how to search, etc, etc..

Have patience, remember to breathe, create something.

Do posts that try to answer but do not contain a question get people spanked?

I thought you just did answers...

I do questions too. When someone says, how can we save second life, the question is vauge.

I personally was not aware second life needed saving. However, some people too the question to mean save second life from lag and customer serivice, etc.

Other people will say we need to save seccond life dfrom the age players or griefers or furries, and still other say we need to save it from the gambling and the sex clubs.

There are three million people here, which means there are three million version of what SL needs saving from. There are going to be disputes and arguments and misunderstandings as in any cultrually diverse community. Thus I wanted to know what spoecifically SL needs saving from.

Ah...well, if you want answers from me, I may need a promotion first. :)

Really, I see all the things you mentioned as internal issues, issues to be hashed out among SL residents inside the SL universe. What I'm wondering about is the universe itself. What can ordinary citizens do, if anything, to make sure there will be a SL in 2008?

If I asked why SL needs saving from customer service, would I get an extra spanking for being a smart ass?

Dear Emperor Jake,
First congratulations on your well deserved promotion to Emperor. It is wonderful to see the ask Jake thread back.
Now for my question. I have been a long standing monthly premium payer. As someone who does not pay tier to LL and has no land on the Mainland (I own a decent chunk of land on a Dreamland sim though) I find myself torn. I no longer see the sense in paying LL a monthly fee when my return is 500L a week stipend and recurring issues with the grid stability that Philip could fix by limiting sign ups and log-ins, but that is another matter. Do you feel it is a worthwhile investment for me to keep paying a monthly fee in light of the changes that have made SL virtually unusable much of the time? Should I just pay the fee to support LL for the hell of it?

Thanks Jake!

Long live the Emperor.

Dear Jake:

Are you trying to make me cry? Or, are you busily researching my question (see page 1)?

Tearfully yours,

In a flagrant attempt to curry favor with our new Emperor, I point you to the History Wiki, where it is revealed that DaBoom was the first sim.

Dear Your Imperial Highness, Majesty, and Emperor of All, Jake 1

Do You allow political parties to form within Your Realm, and in exchange for donations received, allow these parties to nominate Knighthoods and Peerages, where such Noble person avatars may attend a avatar House of Lords, collecting loads of Linden Dollars for just registering and popping in once a day.

Regards

Your humble, faithful (and hopeful) subject

That is easy. Use Second lIfe. Participate and discover. You don;t have to implement the next wave in 3-d information storage or interactive databases (though that would help). Really the key to find out out you use SL, what ever you do with it, others do as well.

In short SL is more of a community than anything else. So participate in the community, and SL will reach a point where outside talent seeks to market itself to SL rather than trying to market SL to outside talent. In order of the community to grow it has to be strong and vibrant, and that means particpate.

Well I appreciate you point out the SL wikis. These are very useful tools for obtaining knowledge about SL history and how we got to where we are today. I would reccomend exploring them as well as the many tutorial of the SL Knowledge base.

However, to curry favor with the emperor, you must ask questions. Even if your post contains an answer, you must ask a question of me. Since this post has no question, you will be turned over to the tender ministration of Colette.

I will accept your side bar commentary as it realtes to SL. However, in the future please add a question to your side bar commentary, so that you might avoid being spanked.
