Aside from Emporer, who is Jake Reitveld? And is he (you) the new Linden Answers? ![]() Well he is John Galt returned from the rockies, to make the forums a better, more useful place. No he is not the new linden answers, he is the old resident answers. _____________________

On the Economy Stats page, why are stipends listed as both a source and a sink? Interesting question. The basic answer is bizzare accounting a la Enron. Other people have commented that it represents the source of funding for secret government projects. I will of course invetigate further, and advise. I have a more complete understanding. There is some issue in the way the registration process works that results in a small amount of new user stipends being destroyed in certain cases, which cretes a sink. These are the stipend sinks listed in the economic statistics. _____________________

What is the perfect Valentine's Day gift for a guy in SL? Thanks! K. well the perfect gift is your avi, in prim heels and somethign amazingly skimpy, and a set of poseballs to back it up. For the most fashion conscious, a Grim and Muse suit, or a Barnesworth suit, plus a pair of H&H mens shoes from Jeepers Creepers. For those into bizzare robots, I reccomend a mechantula: a fifity foot spider avatar. Of course the usual assortment of cars, boats, planes, honver bikes and other transport. Or a good gun. Or some combintation of the the above. Or, how about taking some time, and rather than make this day all about you and what romantic things he is supposed to do for you, make the day about him. You chose to be with him, why not sort out a way to make sure he knows you think he is the most amazing guy in the world. Of course make sure your RL husband does not see the amount of time and effort you put into your SL relationships. *grins* Just kidding...sorta. _____________________

Why are we here? What's the meaning of it all? WTF? And who are you? We are here to participate in a multi layered, interactive, realtime virtual enviornment, with limited abilty as a business platform for non-SL based business, but with solid potential as social/networking platform, and excellent utility for interactive virtual erotica. Other uses wil present themselves as the platform develops and the community grows. We are here for reasons unique to each of the users. Meaning? Its an entertainment medium at present. WTF? well if thou need help with this, that is beyond the scope of this forum. I already answered who I am. I am a guy who gives answers. _____________________

Kings and Emperors usually mean more taxation on their subjects as Governments always expand ahead of actual need, in which case I would rather not have another one if you don't mind no disrespect intended. I have enough to put up with as it is without more new rulers. -

Interesting question. The basic answer is bizzare accounting a la Enron. Other people have commented that it represents the source of funding for secret government projects. I will of course invetigate further, and advise. This was actually addressed a couple of months ago by Zee Linden, in an answer that can only be understood by CPAs, controllers, and other people of the seriously financial persuasion. Ok, the answer meant nothing to me.... but there was answer!!! Max |

Dear Emperor Jake: You say in your original post that "Posts without questions will incurr consequences, this might mean being spanked, and it might mean being ignored." What if someone likes being spanked? Does that not give them incentive to post silly comments hoping that you'll give them a spanking? Ooops, I asked two questions. No spankings for me! If you like spanking. You will get one hard slap and then be denied. Also Silly comments can be ignored. _____________________

Can I use Lindens to pay my monthly LL land tier? If so, can you set it to auto? Oh yeah...Can I spank sometimes too? I'm happy to step aside for Colette, but if her little hand gets tired... _____________________

What is currently the size of the entire universe in light years and what does this question have anything to do with Second Life? ![]() The universe has an apporximate volume of 4/3 π R3 = 4.0×1032 cubic light-years. If SL is the metaverse, and thus a virtual reflection of the universe, it means that even with open sourcing the grid has huge scaling problems. Other than that, well the universe is unfathomable, but the meta verse is what you make of it. _____________________

Where are my car keys? And whose house is this?? You don't need car keys in Second life, so looking for them is just wasted effort, or perhaps a biological throwback to conditions in the meat world. In the same way we have bathrroms and kitches and stairs in our SL houses, we also must have prim car keys to lose. If someone was really clever they would script it so that losing your care keys meat you could not teleport anywhere. I know several people, who would never find them, given the size of thier inventories. As far as whose house it is, well by now the bounce script has kicked in and you are perma-banned from the parcel, so you know one of two things: the house is not yours, or your SL partner just ended the relationship. _____________________

Here is a question for you:
Resident A writes a program creating bots that sweep in and buy land as soon as they go under a certain L$ per Sqm level, thereby giving themselves an advantage over the regular 'human' avatar the looks through the listings like God and Phillip Linden intended. Resident B is a real estate business owner that disapproves of this practice and creates signs that instantly send specific avatars home. He places them all over SL on all of his properties. To the list of avatars he adds all the names of Resident A's bots along with Resident A himself as well as his partners, friends, etc. The questions is actually twofold. First should Resident A be able to use bots in this manner? Are they simply building a better mousetrap or are they cheating to make a linden buck at the expense of the general population? Second, should what Resident B is doing be considered harassing behavior? Is the second question dependent on the answer to the first? |
