I understand your point very well. More than you would like for me too. I understand it to the point that you have no clue what you are talking about so are relying on bullshit to cover for ignorance all in an attempt to justify a preconceived notion based on a guess.


SL nekos are their own culture with a varied ideal and play style. Some of this culture comes from RL cosplay events, some form furries, some from manga and some is just made up on the spot. Nekos seen with both human and feline ears are only because of RL limitations; those being RL and SL limitations. You will not find examples in anime or manga. Having a tail at all is dependant on the story line for media and the individual taste for cosplay. These can be thin whips, bushy and elaborate log hair tails or none at all.

Kitsune, on the other hand, are a little more specific. They always have multiple tails, for example. 9 tails, are common for kitsune. In SL, this becomes a mess of tangled prims so it is customary to only wear 3. Kitsune are also humans with asian-like demonic traits.

Since the only universal thing about neko tails is that they are individual choices, I can easily assume you would not wear one. However, what you say about a neko's tail is a direct statement about their choice of style. They will take it personally because you insulted the most personal choice they have in that setting. I am not sure if that was your intent but considering the ignorance you have shown on the subject I think you would not know the difference in either case.

Individual choices of tails - yes but cat tails if they are a neko. That's the point.

They want to be horses they aren't nekos. If they're self-proclaimed human-horse-cat mutations then so be it. Nothing wrong with that if they didn't buy the right tail or wanted a horse tail. It's just that they're not to expect that they're setting themselves as examples of the neko subculture in SL or anywhere else. They're a unique concoction.

I have yet to see a neko in SL that has a horse tail.
Every neko I have ever seen that has a tail has a neko tail.

"Neko" is short for "nekomimi" ( 猫耳 ) or "nekomusume" ( 猫娘 ). Although nekomusume translates from Japanese to literally mean "catdaughter", they are more commonly referred to as nekomimi, which translates literally as "cat ear", but means "catgirl" ( ねこみみ ) in context.

Yes, some people are using horse tails and cat ears. I don't know why, and I was curious. That doesn't mean I think they're any weirder than other nekos, or that they shouldn't be called nekos, or that they should be called uma instead. I was just curious. Heck, I don't even go ballistic at people who don't know what "kitsune" means, and there's plenty guilty of that. Personally, I prefer funny animals that look like this:

Cat tails - fluffy or shorthaired - are structured completely different from horsetails. There's no doubt the people in question are wearing horse tails.

Argent? Ya know the raccoons and cats got the same types of tails Nekos can get away with a raccoon tail when they get their hackles up ;P
