so he was faking being a pedofile... and you were faking being a young girl? Congratz, I can't imagine how that worked out.. but seriously congratz

Actually reads more like he was a teenager and thought she was too, but she was actually twice his age.

While she was in her 30's and thought he was too, but she was actually twice his age.

Get this:

No, I don't have an older partner in SL... and yet, my partner does!

It's a conspiracy - I'm sure of it!

FREAKY, HUH?

Who cares? Unless a person has an age-related mental disease like Alzheimer's, the brain is just as active at 65 as it was at 25. That's all we are in SL, is brains.

I have it on good authority that Oryx is actually one hundred and twenty-three years old. she's held up pretty well, but still...

Milla - if that's how it works for you, fine, but you had some initial chemistry with him before you saw his picture, didn't you? Otherwise why would you have wanted to see his picture? It may not have been a full on romance or love at that point, but there was some interest, wasn't there? Even if there wasn't, you have to account for the fact that you are talking about a relationship that became a RL relationship, and the OP was about a relationship that is kept strictly in SL. I tend to agree that in the situation you are describing, there has to be a RL physical attraction. Maybe for you, if you were to have a SL-only relationship (and I understand you won't, but speaking hypothetically), you would need that as well, but for a lot of people, a SL only relationship is about the mind and personality of the person on the other side, not their physical RL looks.

My SL sweetheart is 18 years my senior, and we get along swimmingly. But SL stays in SL, so his age (and his grandchild, lol) don't matter. It was a little shocking for about 5 minutes, but it didn't really matter. Like "H," he's very sexy, clever and lovely in many ways. Besides, I get to rib him with old man jokes every now and then. :)

Older SL Players

I am very happy to read that there are older people playing the SL game..Personally, I do not relate to the 20's and 30's ish people..however.. the person/ people that wrote that age in Sl does not matter.. I do not agee with them ..because I am a mature lady and can tell immediately when I encounter someone that is "youngish"... the ones that you meet someplace and the first words out of their mouth is "sup" (obviously trying to say to you, What's up - but not capable of forming the syllables necessary) but then, like someone else who already wrote this.. I have always been attracted to older men too.. to each his/her own *smiles*

I really like this... Given the topic of the thread, it's perhaps not surprising the other posts were giving the impression that the only hope for "September" folks was to find willing "May" partners.

But I would add that the "'s'up" contingent may not be as young in RL as they "are" in SL. There's no rule against two "Septembers" getting all "May" in SL; indeed, it's a perfect medium for that sorta thing--and doesn't even require the aid of pharmacology. ;) Moreover, in SL one can be "May" of any d*mned year one likes... maybe even that year when one's RL "May" was in full flower.

I like this thread. It is quiet and pleasant and people just telling each other nice things about their partners and friends. I have had a few clashes on Resident Chat lately, but this one is just saying that age counts and experience counts and older people are sexy and adventurous.
I think it has to do with THINKING young. H. is more of a young adult at times than I am a 29 year old and the only thing that "ages" him is when he speaks about historical events that I missed. He remembers the London protest marches of 50s and 60s and Carnaby Street! Fascinating stuff.

You can tell how mature someone is, but you can't tell their age. I'm in my late 30's and I use "S'up" and other colloquialisms all the time, mainly because I, and those I am generally with have a casual conversation style that allows for us to chat in the same way we would if we were actually in each other's presence. I think I can form the necessary syllables if I try hard enough, but the effort is just so taxing. In fact, I'd bet I could carry on a completely normal conversation with you if I really wanted to and you would never know that you were talking to someone too stupid to actually type out "What is up?" I'm sneaky that way. Diabolical, even.

My only relationship here was with a guy who is 37 years my senior. I am a "college kid" (as he would put it!), he's an ex shipworker who had to retire following an accident and now has difficulty walking. (Let alone dancing or any of the other things we did. *ahem*)

We had a terrific time. We share a very similar sense of humour and approach to life in general. We proved that young and older people can get on famously when the RL barriers are torn down.

It was, quite simply, lovely.

But the intensity of what can happen in SL took us both by surprise. And the way we began to feel shocked us even. I said I would only ever keep it in SL, yet he told me, very honestly, that this thing was taking him over and he had a growing desire to find me in RL.

At which point it was over. Painfully. But by mutual agreement it couldn't go any further.

He is still a very good friend though. And has now partnered with someone who he has met in RL. They are hoping to marry next year.

Now, when we meet, I think we still share a kind of unspoken special understanding. It's all good.

/me takes out notebook and writes, "Don't call Amaranthim "baby" if you want to dance with her." So, if I wanted to dance, just hypothetically, what would I say that might at least move your boat a little closer?

One other thing, I love your signature.

Yep nice thread:)
Age doesn't matter...i keep going on about mind to mind contact which is what is. People being as they truly are without the visual pigeonholing. Don't you find that you know if your going to hit it off with someone in the first few sentences?
I've stopped being surprised that a woman who seems to be so worldly wise turns out to be an 18yr old (and really is!), and the person who doesn't seem to have an ounce of sense if 57..lol...its like RL.

Yes. Much to my own amazement.

TRICKED!!! I was tricked! Duped, conned, bamboozled and hoodwinked!! Unfair practices! Actually, Gor is ok by me. I don't think it's my thing, but whatever makes people happy. I don't want to reveal my true age (37) but I vividly remember Princess Leia wearing silks and chained to Jabba the Hut. That was an impressionable age, so trust me, I can see the appeal of the silks.

Brian - absolutely. I often really like someone within the first two sentences. There's an instant connection with some people - not in a sexual or partnership. It's like you just instantly get each other and you know you're going to get along really well with them.

Have you seen the in-world Princess Leia silks? A *very* good replica, by the looks of it.

There's a store which sells them on New Desperation Isle, if you have that special someone to buy them for... :)

ok, I'm bluffing. They wouldn't be. Now all I need is a volunteer to play dressup. I want to be a young Harrison Ford, though, not Jabba the Hut. And not Harrison Ford frozen in a block of whatever that stuff was. Can we do Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones meets a young Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia? I'm mixing two movies, but I like Indiana Jones better than Han Solo.

Ewww. My Alt is 112 years old!

If I have to make an alt just so I have someone to play Princess Leia meets Indiana Jones, then that's just too sad for words. I think that would just make me feel bad. Or weird. Well, weirder than usual at least, but certainly bad.

Besides, CartelTrustAccount Mumfuzz looks awful in silks. He has hairy Ruthman legs and a saggy butt.

Hey I can stick two Cheese Danish on the side of my head if you can dig up a leather jacket and a beat up fedora.
