From: Imnotgoing Sideways Maybe even restricted access sims based on countries with sticks up their butts over digital content. That way, those of us who believe we have freedom of speech can express it while the remainder of the restricted multitude can 'enjoy' their cut-and-dry regulated lifestyle. (=_=) Google got a censored version for people accessing from China... (that is one of the few things I disapprove about Google, though I don't claim to be smart enough to figure out a way around the cause of that specifiv issue)

From: Dakota Tebaldi A bit hyperbolic. ... I'm not prepared to draw a reference to "1984". Point taken. I still found it fun though.

From: Dakota Tebaldi A bit hyperbolic. As much as I like being on Second Life, and being who I am on Second Life, the fact will always remain that I am here because, and only for as long as, I choose to be here. Having to live with LL's decisions is akin to having to live with buying brown and silver paper whenever I want to eat a Hershey bar.
Of course that doesn't mean I can't complain or try to convince Hershey to change the color of the wrapper; but I'm not prepared to draw a reference to "1984". Neither analogy is perfect, and the situation is somewhere in between. But while _1984_ is about a totalitarian dystopia, Orwell's treatment of "doublespeak" stands on its own, without needing a governmental basis. I can't think of any better comparison for the accusation that LL insists the policy hasn't changed in the face of changes in enforcement. Of course, we haven't really heard LL's side of the story. Though given the SL5B fiasco, the story we've gotten so far is believable.

I'd add " [given the SL5B fiasco] and the history of one of the skin makers hammered by this, [the story...]" But then again, you have to remember that all the members of the Governance Team seem to have long ago blown their mental fuses.

From: Jake Black I dont know what the actual answer is.. I just know LLs response was at best...flaccid. From: Solomon Devoix That's a very good way to put it, and now I know why we still haven't seen the promised blog entry...
...the Lindens are still waiting for their shipment of Lie-agra to come in to firm up their flaccid reasoning.

Unfortunately, all I've been able to get, so far, is Individual commentary from a couple GTeamers, as well as the response that Rhian Svenska got in response to her appeal. No official statements have been made public, GTeam office hours are shuttered, and higher ups in the Governance Team have not been forthcoming.

Isn't it fun that those who should protect us from griefers turn into griefers of the worst kind themselfs? Dear SL God, protect us from the G-Team and its amok running members.
