http://news.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,30100-1291035,00.html?f=rssOooh, thanks to Mr Intrepid Reporter, Lindon Lab (SIC!) have "wiped the pedo playground out" and now it's full of confused "infants" . How come Sky News hasn't even got reporters that have an acceptable grasp of the appropriate language level for writing an article???

From: Eve Drechsler The Sky News reporter? What's the 'more' he's going for? Well from the tone of the report, he sounded dissappointed that he didn't find any actual children being abused and chances are he won't. As I posted in a previous post, he should be posing as a RL minor and report what questionable content and roleplays he has access to with adults and how far those adults will go once they know he is underage. That will do more to protect children than going after adults playing children.

Simple. It's a two-bit tabloid that's just out to make a name for themselves.

From: Tiberious Neruda I have found this reporter inworld.
This little hack is about to find himself banned, and likely from the entire grid. Not only did he write this slanderous piece, he's trying to go for more.
The name is Farell (John F. Kennedy's Middle Name). Well if you aren't doing anything wrong, then you have nothing to worry about with reporters. If paedophiles are using the grid, then I am happy if they get caught. Too many people insist there is nothing wrong with paedophiles in SL, how many people know exactly what really goes on if you aren't part of the rings?

I have it on some authority dat they have merely moved, though for perhaps obvious reasons I've not gone to verify dis. The owner of Wonderland is still an active account, an lists the new location in her picks. Confused infants? Like the reporter? I s'pect he'll find few other places, an will be sorely disappointed at the main body of kid stores an locations in SL. Mari (Where was he last night? I coulda gived him a trick!)

Mari (Where was he last night? I coulda gived him a trick!) Well, in the official response from LL, here, http://www.secondlifeinsider.com/2007/10/31/linden-lab-responds-to-wonderland-scandal/, Lewis PR Linden states that nothing there violated the ToS or CS. At least dirty chat isn't against the ToS or CS. Thank FSM. And if there was someone doing dirty things in a child av shape, no one else was there standing right there who would be willing to report it (the parties to it certainly wouldn't). Offering to do something dirty is not against the ToS, unless for example it amounts to harassment, i.e. in the form of unwelcome advances. Nothing in the news report, and apparently nothing in the AR's that were filed about this place, contained evidence of a person wearing a child av involved in anything graphic. What would be the violation?

I am curious about what people consider to be offensive. Here's a clip from the ToS: From: Terms of Service CONDUCT BY USERS OF SECOND LIFE 4.1 You agree to abide by certain rules of conduct, including the Community Standards and other rules prohibiting illegal and other practices that Linden Lab deems harmful. (iv) take any action or upload, post, e-mail or otherwise transmit Content as determined by Linden Lab at its sole discretion that is harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, causes tort, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, libelous, invasive of another's privacy, hateful, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable; I am beginning to get the impression that some of you don't really think simulated child rape is that big of a deal. Based on the above clipping from the TOS... what would you actually find to be vulgar or obscene? I can't think of anything in SL to be more vulgar or obscene than simulated child rape. If a reporter is going to crack open a story about it being in SL... good. Maybe LL will start enforcing the TOS regarding such behavior.

I can but I won't put it here.. not images anyone needs in their mind... anyway, simulated rape at all is a serious thing in my mind, and simulated child rape is just adding the icing to the cake (Bad analogy for this ituation but oh well)

The problem is a lazy reporter that had an encounter with 1 resident that should be reported for violating the ToS. He has exposed nothing except a misbehaving resident, and has done nothing to protect children.

From: Burnman Bedlam If a reporter is going to crack open a story about it being in SL... good. Maybe LL will start enforcing the TOS regarding such behavior. They do, and have - remember the German story a few months back? The simple problem is that they don't have the resources to police the whole world permanently - until someone brings it to their attention, they can't really do a thing about it - or honestly be held responsible for something they don't know about. If I find something icky that I consider really breaks the rules (rather than just something I don't like) then I make sure I report it - and hopefully others would do the same. There is, of course, the problem of innocent people getting caught by a badly-handled AR - but that doesn't mean people should not use the reporting resources. I note from the follow-up story that there is no congratulations to Linden Lab for acting promptly once they were told that this place existed - merely "we got something done, and bully for us". Broccoli

He has exposed nothing except a misbehaving resident, and has done nothing to protect children. If LL isn't going to enforce the TOS and remove such content, I see nothing wrong with a reporter bringing light to the situation, and forcing LL's hand through bad publicity. I am not remarking about removing people for endangering children in that post... I am discussing vulgar and obscene content, which is clearly listed as a TOS violation. Removing sexual age-players would simply be enforcing existing terms of service. The issue of protecting children is a separate issue, which has been ongoing on these forums for years.

From: Burnman Bedlam ] The issue of protecting children is a separate issue, which has been ongoing on these forums for years. The issue of protecting children was in the story, and again I stand by my opinion that the 'investigation' was poorly thought out, executed and reported.
