From: Chris Norse Minors might be a better word than children. There is a lot of difference in a 10 year old and a 17 year old. No the 17 yo doesn't belong on the grid, but I wouldn't call that child sex. Yes minors probably is more appropriate but at my age they all seem like babies to me.

From: Felix Oxide No, but his/her post seemed to indicate that it was a lie that real children were being abused on the adult grid. I seriously doubt a kid would be playing a kid in SL.
Yeah i know not quite on topic, but it seemed appropriate for that one post. The reporter mentions it in passing in the part of no assurances kids cant access that material. Right before the "But much more disturbing" and going into the sexual ageplay... I personally find children having cybersex with adults more disturbing than adults having sex with adults regardless of what avatars are worn.

Which was why I was dissappointed on the focus of the piece.

From: Colette Meiji I dont think the report used the word Minors though. Im not in the mood to watch it again. My response was to the post about Minors outing themselves and claiming to have lots of cybers. The report was pretty much worthless. I found the "experts" they talked with to be just as disturbing as the child AVs.

From: errUh Oh yes its horrifying Where the hell are the parents Confusingly unaware? Perhaps because news stories concentrate on Sexual Age Play and virtual child porn rather Children accessing adult websites?

OK, so now we know that there are minors on the grid (though we don't know just how minor - 17 isn't the same as 7 for sure!), and there are people on the grid with a taste for sex with children. I know I'm going to have to beat off the pedo-hysteria types with a club for saying this, but that is a very volatile mixture, and it would be wise of LL to keep a pretty tight lid on the potential molesters because if they don't, this is a train wreck just waiting to happen. They are the reason I have long wanted to keep the kids off the main grid as much as is feasible. And now,I get ready once again to defend the right of innocent child avs to exist...

Not sure if anyone has posted this yet, but there is an article on the main page of ninemsn about this. http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=313156I think someone brought up before that they 'forgot' to mention that what they speak of is not allowed by LL, and the way SL is portrayed is inaccurate and pretty negative.

From: Haravikk Mistral Where did you find the written report? It might be my work machine messing up the page but I can't find a way to read the article, only view the video (which I saw while I was down at the gym and thought I'd post about it). I just clicked on the Sky News home page and there was a link from there yesterday - I don't seem to be able to find it today - maybe if you use the website search function?

Thank goodness they are doing it in SL and not for real.
So let's shut them down and send the perverts out onto the streets.

no one is going to apologize to all the innocent people they degraded and stigmatized when they realize sexual ageplay wasnt even the problem. Its not gonna cut down or eliminate any real predators on the adult grid because that group wasnt attracting or harboring rl predators more then any other group in sl. They were two completely exclusive groups. Those who clasp their hands together in glee, acting indignant and righteous are only contributing to the persecution of a small group of people who, truthfully, have no interest in real children to begin with. so please, by all means, pat yourselves on the back for a job well done. continue to harrass, threatened, bully, shut down and ban anyone that you dont understand or approve of. Draw real predators from the real world into those innocent groups using the media to advertise false information about ageplay. Thats gonna make things even better. Use your selective memory in a few months or a year from now when once again you are told the problem is age verification stupid. Lets hope the real pedos that you turned a blind eye to, while you were off having witchhunts against infantalized adults, dont give you the publicity you all deserve. Karma is a bitch.
p.s. Happy Halloween

It's the same old crap.
This is not a "Second Life" problem. It's the problem of individuals and anonymity online.
If you want to find dodgy stuff, you have to go and search for it, it doesn't just pop up.
If you want to find dodgy things on the internet, use Google. Nobody's trying to get Google banned, are they?

I have found this reporter inworld.
This little hack is about to find himself banned, and likely from the entire grid. Not only did he write this slanderous piece, he's trying to go for more.
The name is Farell Fitzpatrick.
