Mybe because i'm a man and never pretend to be anything else, I only attract the unstable women and am not aware of a similar problem with guys and I guess cannot give an informed opinion, therefore I retract my previous statement of labelling 90% of the nutters as women.
Although, you've got to admit, you are all a bit wacky!

From: Colette Meiji Ive heard plenty of horror stories about male stalkers - so I think this one isnt unique to either men or women.
Famous case was that guy who fell in love online she broke it off and so he went to her rl front lawn and hacked at his own neck with a chain saw and died.
Another one was the date rapist who lied to women about his profession arrainged a RL meetup - and slipped GHB in their drink. I beleive it was 8 different women.
Those two were both on the national news in the US. A close friend went through an experience that I don't even want to go into detail about about 5 years ago, that kept me from even trying any of the on lin social sites, one that she still hasn't fully put past her. It is the reason why my Number one rule of crossing the streams will never be broken.

I hope to think us forum users are passionate about the positives of SL and are not one of lifes sicko's, hense we like to talk about it as much as we do play in it.

But.. but.. but, if we leave the toilet seat down, don't you then complain it gets wet? Strangest time I ever had in a VR platform, was joining a group conversation with 5 other 'people', all generally chatting about nothing, male and female... after an hour, realising they were all the same person behind the keyboard . This person must have been an octopus, I mean there were 5 conversations going on in main chat and 2 of 'them' were IMing me at the same time LOL. I guess I was the new kid on the block, because this 'group' remained as 5 for the longest time on their own, only occasionally attracting yet another new kid on the block. The VR platform? was There.com

Actually I always put the seat back down but my Ex she kept leaving the seat down but lid open, which drove me nuts. Toilets have lids for reasons, things falling in and dogs drinking out of them come to mind...................

I must admit that one of the smarter men I dated (There haven't been that manym sadly) had a good comeback. I would ask him "How much effort can it take for you to put the seat back down?" His response: "About as much as it would take for you to do it".

On the original topic, I'll say this... SL is just a game in some ways, but there are real people behind the avatars acting on a personal level with other avatars. It's not a game where you interact with AI, so I'm sure for many, rl feelings will get involved at times. Keeping those feelings on an appropriate scale is something a person with a healthy RL should have no problem with. Obviously, as Ava stated earlier the woman you speak of is mentally ill. She may have trouble judging boundries as a healthy minded person would. We as participants will tend to seek out other people for friendship that share the same view of what this environment is all about. Doing what I do for business in-world I have a lot of people on my friends list. I'm meeting people constantly, some of them are on the list because I actually have a personal relationship with them. Others because they may want to contact me again for future business.

Not being gamer, your point about AI interaction is interesting, it is a difference.

I'm not a gamer myself, but to me it was a good way to illustrate the difference between this environment and a game. For as unreal as the grid and what we can do there is...we are still interacting with real people. Now I'm reapeating myself.

What started out as a pleasant SL friendship turned into a pleasant SL relationship. The gentleman and I decided to meet in RL. We subsequently fell in love in RL. Got married in RL. Things are great.
What's really strange is that even though we are married in RL, we are still Oryx and R*h in SL... it's like Oryx and R*h have their own distinct personalities, completely separate from our RL personae. Makes me feel sort of multiple-personality-ish sometimes...

nearly every multiplayer 'game' is played with 10-30 other real people though. multiplayer bots arent popular in that setting at all.

I would ask him "How much effort can it take for you to put the seat back down?" His response: "About as much as it would take for you to do it". Someone somewhere has to have done a physical effort comparison... Males are taller on average, does that require more effort to reach down to lift/lower a toilet seat? Women have a higher (or lower?) center of gravity, does that factor in? I did, at one point, live in a household where the male to female ratio was 3:1, she made a point of putting the seat back up after for the rest of us. As far as toothbrush safety was concerned, I'd have to throw it hard enough to angle-bounce it off a wall to even come close to dropping it in the toilet. But this is SL. No one cares in world whether the seat is up or not.

I never understood the point of having bathrooms, kitchens...etc in SL...seems like a waste of prims to me. As for RL, I've always put the seat back down. Not sure when that started or if there are any scars to prove that I went through some sort of training. But I put the seat down because it's designed to be down when not in use. and yes, I am available for private functions or walks on the beach...just watch out though because I carry a pocketfull of poseballs and I'm not afraid to use them.
