It is with great pleasure that I announce the land for the Forum Cartel hangout has been purchased and is in our possession. Congrats to everyone who has been a part of this exciting venture so far. It has truly been a group effort and we could not have gotten a plot this nice without your generous contributions of tier and $L.

Personal thanks to Oryx Tempel for scouting land with me and finding this gorgeous plot and to Trout and Sarah Nerd for all their help advising on the purchase and getting it secured and to Brenda and Chris for trusting us to make the right choice.

Go walk on the sand and wade into the ocean at our new mainland home!
http://slurl.com/secondlife/Allana/195/29

Why your trusted team chose this plot for our hangout:

-Ideal terra combination of flat and gentle slopes
-Ideal ground texture combination of grass and beach
-Ideal location: waterfront bordering a full sim of protected Linden ocean!* That means we can rez our stuff and have sailing races and biplane dogfights and pie bakeoffs on a full sim of protected Linden ocean!!!
-Low lag sim
-Nice features on sim...cool natural hills just above us. And of course, the ocean in front of us.
-Class 5 server
-No clubs on sim
-Low traffic sim...for now :)
-Perfect spot for Mari's treehouse
-Lots of possibilities for our builders and landscape artists
-Neighborhood is attractive (there is a funky Space Observatory next door for late night hallucinating)
-The 8192 meter size ensures we will always have enough prims for our poseballs and penguins.
-We got a good deal on the land considering that it is some of the most coveted mainland you can get.
-The land will holds it value in case of the unlikely event we would ever need to resell.

Why are you stilll reading this? Go check it out!

OMG! I can't believe she snapped the picture there. YES! Of course I was kidding. LOL

I'm stunned at how nice of a place we got. Never expected anything so good.

You guys, this parcel ROCKS. It's frickin gorgeous, and there's not only ONE ocean sim; our parcel is in a Linden "bay" that has at least 4 full Linden ocean sims, and lots of coastline to explore in boats.

The space observatory owns 16,000 meters of the sim, and the rest of the owners seem like basic homeowner types, so aside from our hangout, I don't see any massive clubs or malls coming into the sim.

Whee! I'm SO EXCITED!!!

Good Job Figgie. *BTW I don't think that laptop stunt would be considered cheating... just possibly painful*

Four full Linden ocean sims?!!! Damn, I'm going to go back and pay the seller more for this baby! ;)

Way to go, Oryx. We would not have gotten this land if not for you. :D

BTW, the forum mascot, Sideways, is loving his new home.

We're in a great position here with this land. The next steps are underway, and they are to get our builders going on the project. I'll be talking to Oryx today and we'll get together with Chris, Incanus and Malachi asap and make sure they have what they need to get rolling.

This is an awesome parcel! We should be able to have a nice hangout for whomever wants to just show up and chill, a good central meeting place, some fun things to do outside as well, and even some nice resources for new members and homeless folks. I really have very high expectations here.

Excellent. Thanks for all the work.

Pretending that this is thread IV, I am pleased to report that Annabelle Babii will be joining me on the garden build. We've already begun discussions on approach and aesthetic and expect that we'll be well serving the group's desires.

it looks great but can allready see where this is going as anyone in the group can build

really recommend the land is managed by a different group and have auto return set to 60minutes

to many mainlanders

Raymond, maybe you should move Sally's box of pie t-shirts there for everyone to grab as they check it out.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Yes Alicia, you're right. We're going to work on setting permissions tonight. I can't login right now as I'm at work. We'll probably end up giving only the officers and building teams build options FOR NOW. As the project evolves, we'll work out the best permission for the land and the group. Since member roles and abilities are defined in the group, we won't need a different group to manage the parcel.

Excellent location--I'm standing there now.

I'm a member of the group as well, so this might have to go through that, but I wanted to make sure you had all the necessary builders and designers you needed. I'm pretty busy, but I'd be more than willing to create some of the detail work when the time comes.

Swing by Glowbox Designs for sample work.

I look forward to meeting you all in-world someday soon.

We might consider having a small section subdivided off to allow rezzing by all group members. That way the no-land people would have a place to rez vendor boxes to transfer stuff to their inventory.

In fact, I think this will be necessary if you want us to be able to enjoy boating... we need a place to rez our boats. Perhaps a 200m section right on the water?

Great job to everyone who handled the land selection and purchase. It is a really lovely parcel and I think the size and location are great.

Well done and thanks for all your hard work. :D
