THE VOTES ARE IN!
After a server glitch that temporarily dropped the machine out of the universe, the Lindens have retrieved the ballot box intact. It has been passed on to acclaimed scripter Ben Linden to validate and authorize the scripting mechanism that controlled the voting process. Once that is done, ANNOUNCEMENTS WILL BE MADE.

Ben Linden: I have reviewed the scripts in the Votemaster 5000, and found them satisfactory
So now, on to the results...

I'm going on vacation tomorrow for a week, and will contact the top 5 when I'm back. Meantime, consider cobbling up some eloquent palaver about how you created the avatar, what inspired it, etc. Also would love to take a series of "before and after" screenshots, showing the transformation from the ordinary to the Extraordinary!

I still don't believe it. Heh, there's plenty of others I thought should be higher up than me.... Guess we really ARE our own worst critics.

From the comments I heard from the folks who were at the expo while I was there you should have been #1. Considering how easy it is to play a voting system like what was used the voting results have to be taken with a grain of salt. A panel of judges would, of course, been a more reliable form of determining a "winner" rather than a "drag all your friends and alts to vote" sort of thing.

From: Kathmandu Gilman A panel of judges would, of course, been a more reliable form of determining a "winner" rather than a "drag all your friends and alts to vote" sort of thing. It could be viewed as a popularity test either way. Either your friends are partial to voting for you, or the judges are partial to voting for you. At least with the "everyone can vote" method, if enough people visit and vote it will drown out individual attempts to game the system. One thing is for sure... both of these methods beat out the "Let the Lindens choose while they wear thier marketing hats" approach.
