This will be a Linden-sponsored NWN Expo, probably in late July or August, that will showcase the strangest/spookiest/craziest/fantastical/futuristic/weirdest avatars out there in SL. This will showcase non-realistic avatars (though humanoid is perfectly acceptable). Please post nominations like this: "The [describe avatar or its given name] by [Resident who built it, if known]" Also, nothing M-rated (or better, nothing that can't be toned down to PG for the Expo); AVs with powered armor and robotic exoskeletons are permitted, but no robots-- those will get their own Expo. I'll select the top ten named here, put those up for a poll vote, then invite the top five to the in-world Expo. Like the Book Expo, there'll be vote on these, with the AV that gets the most votes winning-- well, TBD.

Well, assuming we can nominate ourselves...
The Martov Cyborg Unit 1 by Aleksandr Marvov
It's not a robot, but a cyborg, meaning robotic external components meshed with an organic/mechanical endoskeleton and a mixture of robotic and organic internals.
(To be fair I originally wanted it to be a straight suit of powered armor, but I realized that the end shape was physically impossible for a normal human, so it's a cyborg)

Um... Torley Torgeson... By Torley! I'm sure we have all seen the pictures *edit* I should really read the whole post before replying.. Still even if she's not entirely unrealistic, it's a pretty hip avatar.

Self-nomination! My own "Jaylene Slide" avatar. Woman transformed into early eighties CG. On the left. Just me. I'd consider also suggesting Plastic Duck's lovely openwork robot-like avatar (on the right, with me in the Slide and an experimental skirt) but he's been permabanned.

Now that I think of it, I might do something crazy like hold an in-world gangster-style pool party or something like that for the top forty Extraordinary Avatars nominated, and put those up for an in-world vote (which would require 8 voting machines, but what the hell.) Then select the top 10 from that event, and put those up for vote on the Forums, then have a second in-world event for the final five. You know, like American Idol, but on hallucinogens.
But let's see how fierce the competition gets...

Let's say by the end July 15, if only to keep me sane.

I'd like to nominate my Spawn avatar for the category of "Most Stolen Avatar in SL History Due to a Permissions Bug Exploit," and my Seven of Nine avatar for "Most Likely Avatar to Make People Ask, 'Are You a Guy or a Lesbian?' 100 Times A Day."
